"Christmas 2020 - Nativity" joint s/s with the Vatican City, on FDC from Austria

Bloc-feuillet "Noël 2020", commun avec le Vatican, sur FDC d'Autriche

Pour la 1ère fois dans l'histoire des 2 pays, les administrations postales d'Autriche et de la Cité du Vatican ont mis en circulation, le 20 novembre 2020 (Autriche) et le 10 novembre 2020 (Vatican), une émission commune sous la forme d'un bloc-feuillet (2 timbres), consacré au thème de Noël et de la Lumière de la Paix de Bethléem en particulier.
A noter que la poste vaticane a également émis les 2 timbres de façon séparée.
La version autrichienne de ce bloc-feuillet commun (tirage : 260000, 55000 pour la version vaticane), conçu par Kirsten Lubach et imprimé aux Pays-Bas par Joh. Enschedé, figure sur le FDC ci-dessous avec TAD "Joyeux Noël" de Linz, capitale de la Haute-Autriche. Merci beaucoup Edna !
Ce TAD représente l'Enfant-Jésus au-dessus de l'étoile de Bethléem, également présent sur le timbre de gauche (1€), avec l'église baroque (consacrée en 1725) du célèbre sanctuaire de pèlerinage Christkindl à Steyr (Haute-Autriche) dans le fond. 
For the first time in the history of the two countries, the postal administrations of Austria and Vatican City put into circulation, on November 20, 2020 (Austria) and November 10, 2020 (Vatican), a joint issue, a souvenir sheet (2 stamps), devoted to the theme of Christmas and the Peace Light of Bethlehem in particular.
To note that the Vatican Post also issued the 2 stamps separately.
The Austrian version of this joint souvenir sheet (print run: 260,000, 55,000 for the Vatican version), designed by Kirsten Lubach and printed in the Netherlands by Joh. Enschedé, is present on the FDC below with a "Merry Christmas" cancellation from Linz, capital of Upper Austria. Thank you very much Edna!
This postmark represents the Child Jesus over the Star of Bethlehem, also present on the left stamp (€ 1.00), with the baroque church (consecrated in 1725) of the famous Christkindl pilgrimage sanctuary in Steyr (Upper Austria) in the background.

 

Ce lieu est aujourd'hui connu pour son bureau postal temporaire ouvert chaque année pendant la période de Noël.
Cette tradition de la Lumière de la Paix de Bethléem a commencé en 1986 dans le cadre de l'initiative caritative de Noël "Licht ins Dunkel" ("Lumière dans l'obscurité") organisée par la radio et télévision autrichienne ORF de Linz et visant à collecter des dons spontanés pour soutenir les enfants handicapés, les personnes socialement marginalisées, ainsi que les étrangers ayant besoin d'assistance.
Chaque année en décembre, juste avant Noël, un enfant sélectionné parmi les groupes scouts autrichiens connus pour leur engagement particulier en faveur de la sensibilisation sociale, allume une lumière dans la grotte de la Nativité à Bethléem, ramenée ensuite en Autriche pour se répandre dans le monde entier comme un symbole de paix et de fraternité entre les peuples. 
Le 2ème timbre à droite (0,85€) montre le pape François tenant une lanterne contenant cette Lumière de la Paix de Bethléem, avec la basilique Saint-Pierre au Vatican dans le fond. 

This place is today known for its temporary post office open every year during the Christmas period.

This tradition of the Peace Light of Bethlehem began in 1986 as part of the Christmas charity initiative "Licht ins Dunkel" ("Light in the darkness") organized by the Austrian radio and television broadcaster ORF of Linz and aimed at collecting spontaneous donations to support children with disabilities, the socially marginalized, as well as foreigners needing assistance.

Every year in December, just before Christmas, a child selected from Austrian scout groups known for their particular commitment to social awareness, lights a light in the Nativity Grotto in Bethlehem, then brought back to Austria to spread around the world as a symbol of peace and brotherhood among peoples.
