"Chao Phraya River" stamp set on cover from Thailand

Série "Fleuve Chao Phraya" sur lettre de Thaïlande

A l'occasion d'une exposition philatélique "River... The Divergence Of Life" organisée par le musée philatélique Sam Sen Nai, inaugurée le 5 juin 2017, la journée mondiale de l'environnement, la poste thaïlandaise a mis en circulation une très jolie série (4 timbres) consacrée au fleuve Chao Phraya, une des 3 principales rivières du pays (372 km de long), se formant au confluent des rivières Ping et Nan et s'écoulant vers le sud avant de se jeter dans le golfe de Thaïlande, en passant par la capitale Bangkok.
Ces 4 timbres reproduisent des photographies sélectionnées suite à un concours organisé par la poste thaïlandaise et la Royal Photographic Society of Thailand. Parmi 359 candidatures soumises, 13 sont entrées dans le tour final et quatre ont été sélectionnées pour être transformées en timbres.
Un grand merci Thanakorn pour cette jolie lettre envoyée le 19 avril 2021 (2021 correspondant à l'année 2564 dans le calendrier bouddhiste) depuis la ville de Maha Sarakham (nord-est du pays), affranchie avec les 4 timbres (3 baht chacun) de cette série !
On the occasion of a philatelic exhibition "River... The Divergence Of Life" organized by the Sam Sen Nai Philatelic Museum, inaugurated on June 5, 2017, the World Environment Day, the Thailand Post has put into circulation a very nice series (4 stamps) dedicated to the Chao Phraya River, one of the 3 main rivers in the country (372 km long), starting at the confluence of the Ping and Nan rivers and flowing south before emptying into the Gulf of Thailand, passing through the capital Bangkok.
These 4 stamps reproduce photographs selected following a competition organized by the Thailand Post and the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand. Out of 359 entries submitted, 13 entered the final round and four were selected to be made into stamps.
A big thank you Thanakorn for this nice letter sent on April 19, 2021 (2021 corresponding to the year 2564 in the Buddhist calendar) from the city of Maha Sarakham (northeast of the country), franked with the 4 stamps (3 Baht each) of this series!

 

Le lauréat du premier prix de ce concours a su capturer la beauté de la rivière Chao Phraya lorsqu'elle embrasse la petite île verdoyante de Koh Kret avec le lever du soleil à l'horizon.
Les timbres suivant montrent un petit bateau remorqueur tirant une barge au lever du soleil (photo prise à Bangkok depuis le pont Krung Thep), une vue de la rive au niveau du quartier historique de Bangkok et une vue d'un méandre à Bangkok également, avec le pont Taksin et le gratte-ciel "The River" (258 mètres de haut), inauguré en 2012, à droite.
Les 3 petits timbres identiques à gauche (10 baht) font partie d'une série courante (9 timbres) émise le 14 août 2017, consacrée à un pavillon Thaï traditionnel, faisant partie du centre culturel thaïlandais à Bangkok. Ce pavillon a été construit comme un mémorial de l'amitié Thaïlande-Japon.

The winner of the first prize of this competition has captured the beauty of the Chao Phraya River as it embraces the small green island of Koh Kret with the sunrise on the horizon.

The following stamps show a small tug boat pulling a barge at sunrise (photo taken in Bangkok from the Krung Thep Bridge), a view of the river's shore near the historic district of Bangkok and a view of a meander in Bangkok as well, with Taksin Bridge and "The River" skyscraper (258 meters high), inaugurated in 2012, to the right.

The 3 small identical stamps on the left (10 Baht) are part of a definitive series (9 stamps) issued on August 14, 2017, dedicated to a traditional Thai pavilion, part of the Thailand's Cultural Center in Bangkok. This pavilion was built as a Thailand-Japan Friendship Memorial.
