"Olympic Games Tokyo 2020" stamp set on FDC from Malta

Série "Jeux Olympiques Tokyo 2020" sur FDC de Malte

Le 23 juillet 2021, jour d'ouverture, la poste maltaise a mis en circulation une série de 3 timbres consacrée aux jeux olympiques d'été de Tokyo 2020 (32ème olympiade), organisés du 23 juillet au 8 août 2021 à cause de la pandémie mondiale de Covid-19.
Sauf erreur, la poste maltaise émet des timbres à l'occasion des jeux olympiques d'été depuis 1976 et les jeux de Montréal (Malte n'a curieusement pas participé à cette édition des jeux), Malte ayant participé pour la 1ère fois à des jeux olympiques en 1928 à Amsterdam avec uniquement une équipe masculine de waterpolo (défaite 16-0 contre la France en quarts de finale).
A Tokyo, la délégation maltaise était composée de 6 athlètes (2 hommes, 4 femmes) engagés dans 5 sports (natation, haltérophilie, athlétisme, badminton et tir), sans remporter de médaille. 
On July 23, 2021, the opening day, the Maltese Post issued a series of 3 stamps dedicated to the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics (32nd Olympiad), organized from July 23 to August 8, 2021 due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.
Unless I am mistaken, the Maltese Post has issued stamps on the occasion of the Summer Olympics since 1976 and the Montreal Games (Malta has curiously not participated in this edition of the games), Malta having participated for the first time in Olympic Games in 1928 in Amsterdam with only a men's waterpolo team (16-0 defeat against France in the quarter-finals).
In Tokyo, the Maltese delegation was made up of 6 athletes (2 men, 4 women) engaged in 5 sports (swimming, weightlifting, athletics, badminton and shooting), without winning a medal.

 

Avec Monaco, la Bolivie ou le Myanmar, Malte fait partie des pays ayant participé le plus de fois à des jeux olympiques (17 fois à des jeux d'été, 2 fois à des jeux d'hiver) sans remporter aucune médaille à ce jour.

Conçus par Aidan Cassar, ces 3 timbres (0,59€, 1,35€, 2,80€, tirage : 80000 chacun), imprimés en feuillet de 10 timbres, ne comportent aucune mention faisant référence à ces jeux olympiques de Tokyo 2020 (mention "Jeux olympiques 2020" sur le TAD et l'enveloppe), le disque rouge dans le fond évoquant le drapeau du Japon.
Des silhouettes de sportifs dans des épreuves d'athlétisme figurent sur ces 3 timbres ainsi que des éventails et des fleurs de sakura (cerisier) dans le coin supérieur gauche, un des symboles du Japon, marquant l'arrivée du printemps. 
Along with Monaco, Bolivia or Myanmar, Malta is one of the countries that have participated in the Olympic Games the most times (17 times in summer games, 2 times in winter games) without winning any medals to date.

Designed by Aidan Cassar, these 3 stamps (€ 0.59, € 1.35, € 2.80, print run: 80,000 each), printed in sheetlet of 10 stamps, do not contain any reference to these Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games (mention "Olympic Games 2020" on the postmark and the envelope), the red disc in the background evoking the flag of Japan.
Silhouettes of sportsmen in athletics events are featured on these 3 stamps as well as fans and sakura (cherry tree) blossoms in the top left corner, one of the symbols of Japan, marking the arrival of spring.
