Tribute to football manager Sepp Herberger on FDC from Germany

Hommage à l'entraîneur de football Sepp Herberger sur FDC d'Allemagne

Après un premier timbre émis en 1997 (100 ans de sa naissance), la Deutsche Post a à nouveau mis en circulation, le 1er mars 2022, un timbre consacré au joueur et entraîneur de football Sepp Herberger (1897-1977) à l'occasion du 125ème anniversaire de sa naissance.
Ce timbre (0,85€), conçu par Thomas Steinacker, incluant un code matriciel et imprimé en feuillet de 10 timbres, figure sur cette lettre avec TAD Premier Jour bleu de Bonn. Merci beaucoup Jens !
Le nom Sepp Herberger est associé à la reconnaissance mondiale du football allemand. L'entraîneur national de longue date a en effet mené l'équipe nationale allemande à remporter le titre de champion du monde pour la première fois.
Le "patron", comme l'appelaient respectueusement les joueurs qui lui étaient confiés, n'est pas la seule chose dont on se souvienne concernant la victoire inattendue des "héros de Berne" lors de la Coupe du monde en Suisse de 1954. 
After a first stamp issued in 1997 (100th anniversary of his birth), the Deutsche Post again put into circulation, on March 1, 2022, a stamp dedicated to the football player and manager Sepp Herberger (1897-1977) on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of his birth.
This stamp (€0.85), designed by Thomas Steinacker, including a matrix code and printed in a sheetlet of 10 stamps, was used on this cover with blue First Day cancellation from Bonn. Thank you very much Jens!
The name Sepp Herberger is associated with worldwide recognition of German football. The long-time national coach indeed led the German national team to win the world championship title for the first time.
The "boss", as the players respectfully called him, is not the only thing remembered about the unexpected victory of the "Heroes of Bern" at the World Cup in Switzerland in 1954.

Joueur en équipe nationale à 3 reprises (entre 1921 et 1925), Sepp Herberger a été l'entraîneur de la "Mannschaft" entre 1936 et 1942 (il prit les rênes de l'équipe nationale après l'échec des jeux olympiques d'été de 1936 à Berlin) puis entre 1950 et 1964.
Sa position passive face au nazisme lui posa d'ailleurs quelques problèmes après la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il fut présenté, par la suite, par ses joueurs, comme apolitique, la politique et les exigences du parti nazi étant savamment ignorées lors des entraînements de l'équipe nationale...
