Le 1er janvier 2022, l'Allemagne a succédé à la Grande-Bretagne à la présidence du G7 et a accueilli le sommet des chefs d'État et de gouvernement du G7 à Schloss Elmau en Bavière du 26 au 28 juin 2022, présidé par le chancelier fédéral Olaf Scholz. 
Le Groupe des Sept (G7), fondé en 1975, est un forum informel de sept grandes nations industrialisées et démocraties, le Canada, la France, l'Allemagne, l'Italie, le Japon, le Royaume-Uni, les États-Unis d'Amérique ainsi que l'Union Européenne.
Le 23 juin 2022, la Deutsche Post a mis en circulation un timbre (0,85€, avec code matriciel) consacré à la présidence allemande du G7 ("G7-Präsidentschaft Deutschland"), utilisé sur cette intéressante lettre avec TAD Premier Jour de la ville de Krün, évoquant cette présidence ainsi que le sommet du G7 ("G7-Gipfel") à Schloss Elmau. On January 1, 2022, Germany took over the G7 Presidency from Great Britain and hosted the G7 Heads of State and Government Summit at Schloss Elmau in Bavaria from June 26-28, 2022, chaired by the Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The Group of Seven (G7), founded in 1975, is an informal forum of seven major industrialized nations and democracies, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, United States of America as well as the European Union.
On June 23, 2022, the Deutsche Post put into circulation a stamp (€0.85, with matrix code) dedicated to the German presidency of the G7 ("G7-Präsidentschaft Deutschland"), used on this interesting cover with First Day postmark from the city of Krün, evoking this presidency as well as the G7 summit ("G7-Gipfel") at Schloss Elmau. Ce timbre, conçu par Thomas Serres, reproduit le logo de cette présidence allemande du G7 (conception : Zum goldenen Hirschen à Berlin) sur fond bleu foncé entouré de lignes semi-circulaires.
Le design du logo G7 est volontairement minimaliste et clair et se concentre entièrement sur les deux éléments principaux "G" et "7", qui forment ici un signe fort. Cette concentration sur l'essentiel est représentative du programme de travail ciblé du nouveau gouvernement fédéral pendant cette présidence. Les deux éléments complémentaires du symbole soulignent une coopération efficace et confiante. 
Lors de leurs sommets annuels, les chefs d'État et de gouvernement des pays du G7 s'entendent sur des positions communes sur les questions politiques mondiales. Alors que l'accent thématique était mis sur l'économie mondiale dans les premières années après la formation du G7, de nombreuses questions économiques, environnementales et sociopolitiques sont actuellement débattues.
En 2022, l'Allemagne assume la présidence du G7 pour la 7ème fois. Le gouvernement fédéral utilise cette présidence pour relever les défis mondiaux centraux avec les partenaires du G7 sous la devise "Progrès pour un monde juste".

The design of the G7 logo is deliberately minimalist and clear and focuses entirely on the two main elements "G" and "7", which here form a strong sign. This focus on the essentials is representative of the targeted work program of the new federal government during this presidency. The two complementary elements of the symbol emphasize effective and trusting cooperation.

At their annual summits, the Heads of State and Government of the G7 countries agree on common positions on global political issues. While the thematic focus was on the global economy in the early years after the formation of the G7, many economic, environmental and socio-political issues are currently being debated.

In 2022, Germany assumes the G7 Presidency for the 7th time. The Federal Government uses this presidency to address central global challenges together with the G7 partners under the motto "Progress for a fair world".
