"Summit of La Francophonie 2022 in Djerba" m/s on FDC from Tunisia

Bloc-feuillet "Sommet de la Francophonie 2022 à Djerba" sur FDC de Tunisie

Pour la première fois de son histoire, la Tunisie organisait, les 19 et 20 novembre 2022, le 18ème Sommet de la francophonie, sur l'île de Djerba précisément.
A noter que ce Sommet, regroupant les chefs d’État et de gouvernement des 88 pays membres (y compris les pays associés ou observateurs) de l'Organisation internationale de la francophonie (OIF), oganisé tous les 2 ans, devait initialement avoir lieu à Tunis en décembre 2020 mais a été reporté à cause de la pandémie de Covid-19.
Le 19 novembre 2022, la poste tunisienne a mis en circulation un timbre (0,9 dinar, tirage : 500000) consacré à ce Sommet de la francophonie, reproduisant le logo de cette manifestation - une habitation blanche traditionnelle de Djerba avec les contours de l'île dans le fond (incluant les 5 couleurs présentes sur l'emblème de l'OIF).
Ces 5 couleurs (bleu, violet, rouge, vert, jaune) rappellent les diverses couleurs des drapeaux des états et gouvernements membres de l'OIF ainsi que les 5 continents où ils sont situés.
For the first time in its history, Tunisia organized, on November 19 and 20, 2022, the 18th Summit of La Francophonie, on the island of Djerba precisely.
It should be noted that this Summit, bringing together the Heads of State and Government of the 88 member countries (including associated or observer countries) of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), organized every 2 years, was initially to take place in Tunis in December 2020 but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
On November 19, 2022, the Tunisian Post put into circulation a stamp (0.9 dinar, print run: 500,000) dedicated to this Summit of La Francophonie, reproducing the logo of this event - a traditional white house in Djerba with the outlines of the island in the background (including the 5 colors present on the OIF emblem).
These 5 colors (blue, purple, red, green, yellow) recall the various colors of the flags of the member states and governments of the OIF as well as the 5 continents where they are located.

 

A noter que ce timbre a également été imprimé dans un bloc-feuillet (prix de vente : 2 dinars, tirage inconnu) comme celui utilisé sur le pli Premier Jour ci-dessus. Merci beaucoup Mourad !
Le fond de ce bloc-feuillet rappelle que les couleurs dominantes des habitations djerbiennes sont le blanc vif pour les murs et les toits, le bleu ciel ou plus rarement le vert bouteille pour les portes et fenêtres. Ce contraste entre le blanc des habitations et le bleu de la mer rend cet endroit attrayant pour les touristes.
Le thème principal de ce Sommet était "La connectivité dans la diversité : le numérique, vecteur de développement et de solidarité dans l'espace francophone" dans un contexte délicat marqué notamment par la prolifération des crises et des conflits internationaux.

Le prochain Sommet de la francophonie aura lieu en 2024 en France, à Villers-Cotterêt où le château abrite la "Cité internationale de la langue française". 

To note that this stamp was also printed in a souvenir sheet (selling price: 2 dinars, unknown print run) such as the one used on the First Day Cover above. Thank you very much Mourad!

The background of this souvenir sheet reminds us that the dominant colors of Djerbian homes are bright white for the walls and roofs, sky blue or more rarely bottle green for the doors and windows. This contrast between the white of the houses and the blue of the sea makes this place attractive for tourists.

The main theme of this Summit was "Connectivity in diversity: digital, a vector of development and solidarity in the French-speaking world" in a delicate context marked in particular by the proliferation of international crises and conflicts.

The next Summit of La Francophonie will take place in 2024 in France, in Villers-Cotterêt where the castle houses the "International City of the French Language".
