"Tokyo 2020 Olympics" stamp on cover from Australia

Timbre "Jeux olympiques Tokyo 2020" sur lettre d'Australie

Le 6 juillet 2021, la poste australienne a mis en circulation un joli timbre consacré aux jeux olympiques d'été de Tokyo 2020 (32ème olympiade), organisés du 23 juillet au 8 août 2021 à cause de la pandémie mondiale de Covid-19.
Ce timbre (1,10$), conçu par Gary Domoney à partir d'une illustration de Joanna Cullen, imprimé en feuillet de 10 timbres, a été utilisé sur cette lettre envoyée le 10 juillet 2023 depuis Runaway Bay, quartier de la ville de Gold Coast (Queensland). Merci beaucoup Vera !
A noter cette oblitération mécanique appliquée le 11 juillet 2023 par le Northgate Mail Centre (NMC, machine 455 - Queensland).
Ce timbre comporte la mention TOKYO (avec le O final à cheval sur 2 timbres), l'emblème du comité olympique australien et 4 athlètes stylisés arborant 4 des 5 couleurs des anneaux olympiques.
Lors de ces jeux olympiques de Tokyo, la délégation australienne était composée de 484 athlètes engagés dans tous les sports au programme sauf le baseball, le handball, l'escrime et la lutte.
Avec 46 médailles (dont 17 en or), l'Australie a égalé son meilleur résultat obtenu à Athènes en 2004. 
On July 6, 2021, the Australian Post put into circulation a nice stamp dedicated to the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics (32nd Olympiad), organized from July 23 to August 8, 2021 because of the global Covid-19 pandemic.
This stamp ($1.10), designed by Gary Domoney from an illustration by Joanna Cullen, printed in a sheetlet of 10 stamps, was used on this cover sent on July 10, 2023 from Runaway Bay, a district of the city of Gold Coast (Queensland). Thank you very much Vera!

This stamp features the mention TOKYO (with the final O straddling 2 stamps), the emblem of the Australian Olympic Committee and 4 stylized athletes sporting 4 of the 5 colors of the Olympic rings.
During these Tokyo Olympics, the Australian delegation was made up of 484 athletes participating in all the sports on the program except baseball, handball, fencing and wrestling.
With 46 medals (including 17 gold), Australia equaled its best result obtained in Athens in 2004.

Comme pour les éditions olympiques précédentes, la poste australienne a mis en circulation des feuillets de 10 timbres honorant les 17 champions olympiques à Tokyo.
Avec la France, la Suisse, la Grande-Bretagne et la Grèce, l'Australie est le seul pays à avoir participé à toutes les éditions des jeux olympiques d'été de l'ère moderne.
Après Melbourne en 1956 et Sydney en 2000, l'Australie organisera pour la 3ème fois de son histoire des jeux olympiques d'été en 2032 à Brisbane. 
Vera a également utilisé 2 timbres identiques (1,20$) faisant partie d'une série (4 timbres) émise le 7 février 2023, consacrée à des trésors du sport, en particulier des objets ayant appartenu à de grands sportifs australiens.
Ce timbre, conçu par Tim Hancock, représente la bicyclette de Hubert Opperman (1904-1996), coureur cycliste qui s'est forgé un solide palmarès dans les années 1920-1930. Il a en particulier battu le record du monde des 24 heures à Victoria en 1927, sur son vélo Malvern Star "Tour de France" figurant sur ce timbre.

Vera also used two identical stamps ($1.20) part of a series (4 stamps) issued on February 7, 2023, dedicated to sporting treasures, in particular objects that belonged to great Australian sportsmen.
This stamp, designed by Tim Hancock, depicts the road bike of Hubert Opperman (1904-1996), a racing cyclist who forged a solid track record in the 1920s and 1930s. In particular, he broke the 24-hour world record in Victoria in 1927, on his Malvern Star "Tour de France" bicycle shown on this stamp.
