Timbre commun "Inauguration de la tour UPAP" sur FDC d'Algérie
Le 2 septembre 2023, en présence de la présidente de la République unie de Tanzanie, Samia Suluhu Hassan, la tour abritant le nouveau siège de l'Union panafricaine des postes (UPAP) a été officiellement inauguré, après presque 4 ans de travaux.
L'UPAP (45 états membres actuellement), institution spécialisée de l'Union africaine, a été créée en 1980 avec son siège à Arusha en Tanzanie. Son principal objectif est la coordination des activités de développement des services postaux en Afrique.
A l'occasion de l'inauguration de cette tour UPAP (construction financée en partie par la Chine), composée en réalité de 2 bâtiments dont un composé de 17 étages, certaines administrations postales africaines ont mis en circulation un timbre commun représentant cet édifice.
On September 2, 2023, in the presence of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, the tower housing the new headquarters of the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) was officially inaugurated, after almost 4 years of work.
PAPU (currently 45 member states), a specialized institution of the African Union, was created in 1980 with its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania. Its main objective is the coordination of postal service development activities in Africa.
On the occasion of the inauguration of this PAPU tower (construction partly financed by China), actually composed of two buildings, one of which has 17 floors, certain African postal administrations put into circulation a joint stamp representing this tower.
A ce jour (sauf erreur), 7 pays (Tanzanie, Algérie, Sénégal, Nigeria, Égypte, Maroc, Zimbabwe) ont émis ce timbre commun (décliné parfois en blocs-feuillets), incluant également un monument ou symbole de chacun de ces pays.
Le 2 septembre 2023 (vente générale le 4 septembre 2023), la poste algérienne a émis ce timbre commun (25 dinars), utilisé en 3 exemplaires sur cette lettre avec TAD Premier Jour, envoyée depuis Jijel. Merci beaucoup Zine !
L'emblème de l'UPAP figure en haut à gauche sur ce timbre (ainsi que sur le TAD), le fond représentant la grande mosquée d'Alger ("Djamaâ El-Djazaïr"), achevée en 2019, la plus grande mosquée d'Afrique et la 3ème plus grande mosquée du monde lors de son inauguration.
Cette mosquée est dotée d'une salle de prière pouvant accueillir 120000 fidèles, surmontée d'une coupole d'un diamètre de 50 mètres, culminant à une hauteur de 70 mètres. Le minaret (à droite sur ce timbre) est le plus haut minaret du monde, culminant à 265 mètres.
To date (unless I am mistaken), 7 countries (Tanzania, Algeria, Senegal, Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, Zimbabwe) have issued this joint stamp (sometimes available in souvenir sheets), also including a monument or symbol of each of these countries.
On September 2, 2023 (general sale on September 4, 2023), the Algerian Post issued this joint stamp (25 dinars), used in 3 copies on this cover with First Day cancellation, sent from Jijel. Thank you very much Zine!
The PAPU emblem appears at the top left of this stamp (as well as on the cancellation), the background representing the Great Mosque of Algiers ("Djamaâ El-Djazaïr"), completed in 2019, the largest mosque in Africa and the 3rd largest mosque of the world during its inauguration.
This mosque has a prayer hall that can accommodate 120,000 worshipers, topped by a dome with a diameter of 50 meters, culminating at a height of 70 meters. The minaret (on the right on this stamp) is the tallest minaret in the world, standing at 265 meters.
