Timbres "Karel Loprais - Monsieur Dakar" sur FDCs de République tchèque
Le 14 février 2024, la poste tchèque a mis en circulation un bloc-feuillet composé de 2 timbres, consacré au pilote automobile tchèque de rallyes (catégorie camions), Karel Loprais (1949-2021).
Ce bloc-feuillet (tirage : 23000), conçu par Petr Ptáček, est en rupture de stock sur le site internet de la poste tchèque.
Né à Ostrava, Karel Loprais débuta dans les usines Tatra de Kopřivnice comme simple ouvrier de montage à la chaîne en 1967. Par la suite, il devint pilote d'essai pour la firme Tatra.
Il débuta sur un Tatra T815 en 1986 dans le Rallye Paris-Dakar, et disputa au total 17 éditions de cette épreuve.
Pour rappel, le rallye Paris-Dakar a été créé en 1978, et la catégorie pour les camions y fut introduite en 1980.
On February 14, 2024, the Czech Post put into circulation a souvenir sheet consisting of two stamps, dedicated to the Czech rally car driver (truck category), Karel Loprais (1949-2021).
This souvenir sheet (print run: 23,000), designed by Petr Ptáček, is out of stock on the Czech Post website.
Born in Ostrava, Karel Loprais started at the Tatra factories in Kopřivnice as a simple assembly line worker in 1967. Subsequently, he became a test pilot for the Tatra company.
He debuted on a Tatra T815 in 1986 in the Paris-Dakar Rally, and competed in a total of 17 editions of this event.
As a reminder, the Paris-Dakar Rally was created in 1978, and the category for trucks was introduced in 1980.
Karel Loprais a remporté ce rallye dans la catégorie "camions" à 6 reprises, en 1988, 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999 et 2001, à bord d'un camion Tatra 815, d'où son surnom de "Monsieur Dakar".

Le timbre ci-dessus (tarif "E" pour un envoi jusqu'à 50g en Europe - 44 CZK) montre Karel Loprais assis dans le siège conducteur d'un camion Tatra 815 spécialement modifié pour ce rallye Paris-Dakar appelé "Puma".
Son surnom "Monsieur Dakar" est mentionné sur le TAD Premier Jour d'Ostrava, un chameau avec un véhicule Tatra figurant sur l'illustration à gauche.
Karel Loprais won this rally in the "truck" category six times, in 1988, 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999 and 2001, aboard a Tatra 815 truck, hence his nickname "Monsieur Dakar".

The stamp above ("E" rate for sending up to 50g in Europe - 44 CZK) shows Karel Loprais sitting in the driver's seat of a Tatra 815 truck specially modified for this Paris-Dakar Rally, called "Puma".
His nickname "Monsieur Dakar" is mentioned on the First Day cancellation from Ostrava, a camel with a Tatra vehicle shown in the illustration on the left.
Le camion Tatra vainqueur du rallye Paris-Dakar en 1988 (son nom technique complet est Tatra 815 VD 10 300 4x4.1 Dakar 1988) est représenté sur le 2ème timbre ci-dessus (tarif "Z" pour un envoi international jusqu'à 50g - 50 CZK).
Le TAD de Kopřivnice fait également référence à ce camion Tatra 815 4x4 1988, représenté aussi sur l'illustration à gauche dans le désert.
The Tatra truck that won the Paris-Dakar Rally in 1988 (its full technical name is Tatra 815 VD 10 300 4x4.1 Dakar 1988) is featured on the 2nd stamp above ("Z" rate for international shipment up to 50g - 50 CZK).
The postmark from Kopřivnice also refers to this 1988 Tatra 815 4x4 truck, also shown in the illustration on the left in the desert.
