“Für den Sport 2024 – Fascination of the Games” stamp set on FDC from Germany

Série "Für den Sport 2024 - Fascination des jeux" sur FDC d'Allemagne

Comme chaque année, la Deutsche Post a émis le 2 mai 2024, 3 nouveaux timbres dans le cadre de sa série de bienfaisance "Für den Sport" ("Pour le sport").
Depuis 1968, ces timbres sont en effet émis avec des surtaxes au profit de la fondation allemande d'aide pour le sport ("Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe") et ont remporté près de 140 millions d'euros qui ont permis de financer des programmes sociaux dans le domaine de la jeunesse et du sport.
Pour cette nouvelle série intitulée "Fascination des jeux", en référence aux prochains jeux olympiques de Paris 2024, la poste allemande a choisi de reproduire des œuvres d'anciens athlètes professionnels allemands qui ont participé aux jeux olympiques et qui travaillent désormais comme artistes.

Like every year, the Deutsche Post issued on May 2, 2024, three new stamps as part of its charity series "Für den Sport" ("For sport").
Since 1968, these stamps are indeed issued with surcharges devoted to the German Sport Aid Foundation ("Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe") and allowed to win nearly € 140 million which were used to finance social programs in the field of youth and sports.
For this new series entitled "Fascination of the Games", in reference to the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games, German Post has chosen to reproduce works by former German professional athletes who participated in the Olympic Games and who now work as artists.

Le premier timbre (0,85€ + 0,40€) reproduit une peinture abstraite du célèbre joueur de tennis Michael Stich (né en 1968), intitulée "Courage" dans laquelle on peut voir les couleurs des anneaux olympiques.
Michael Stich est l'un des joueurs de tennis allemands les plus titrés. En 1992, il participe aux jeux olympiques d'été de Barcelone et a remporté la médaille d'or en double avec son partenaire Boris Becker. Il a mis fin à sa carrière professionnelle en 1997 et peint depuis plus de vingt ans.
Le timbre suivant (1,00€ + 0,45€) est consacré à une œuvre "Sentiments olympiques" par l'ancienne footballeuse Josephine Henning (née en 1989), quatre fois championne d'Allemagne, quatre fois vainqueur de la Ligue des champions, championne d'Europe en 2013 et joueuse de l'équipe nationale allemande. En 2016, lors des jeux olympiques d'été de Rio de Janeiro, elle remporte la médaille d'or avec l'équipe nationale. Elle travaille comme artiste indépendante depuis 2018.
Le dernier timbre (1,60€ + 0,55€) reproduit un tableau intitulé "Paris 2024", suscitant l'anticipation des jeux olympiques d'été auprès de nombreux spectateurs heureux, par Maren Valenti (née en 1976), considérée comme la meilleure joueuse de hockey sur glace allemande de tous les temps.
Elle a disputé plus de 160 matches internationaux et a participé aux jeux olympiques d'hiver de Salt Lake City en 2002. Depuis la fin de sa carrière sportive en 2006, elle se consacre au pop art.
The first stamp (€0.85 + €0.40) reproduces an abstract painting by the famous tennis player Michael Stich (born in 1968), entitled "Courage" in which we can see the colors of the Olympic rings.
Michael Stich is one of the most successful German tennis players. In 1992, he participated in the Summer Olympics in Barcelona and won the doubles gold medal with his partner Boris Becker. He ended his professional career in 1997 and has been painting for over twenty years.
The following stamp (€1.00 + €0.45) is dedicated to a work "Olympic Feelings" by the former footballer Josephine Henning (born in 1989), four times German champion, four times winner of the Champions League, European champion in 2013 and player for the German national team. In 2016, during the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, she won the gold medal with the national team. She has worked as an independent artist since 2018.
The last stamp (€1.60 + €0.55) reproduces a painting entitled "Paris 2024", sparking anticipation of the Summer Olympics among many happy spectators, by Maren Valenti (born in 1976), considered the best German ice hockey player of all time.
She has played more than 160 international matches and participated in the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002. Since the end of her sporting career in 2006, she has devoted herself to pop art.
