"Centenary of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania" stamp on FDC from Moldova

Timbre "100 ans de l'Union de la Bessarabie avec la Roumanie" sur FDC de Moldavie

Au début du 20ème siècle, suite à la désintégration de l'Empire russe après la révolution de février 1917, de nombreuses personnalités (Gherman Pântea, Anton Crihan, Pan Halippa, Constantin Stere...) ont milité pour un rapprochement de la Bessarabie avec la Roumanie voisine, ce qui fut fait à travers la proclamation de l'union de la République démocratique moldave (le nom pris par la Bessarabie autonome après la Révolution russe) et la Roumanie, signée le 9 avril 1918.
Auparavant, l'autonomie puis l'indépendance de la République démocratique moldave fut proclamée à Chișinău, respectivement le 2 décembre 1917 et le 24 janvier 1918, par une assemblée législative appelée "Sfatul Țării" ("Conseil du Pays").
Le 27 novembre 2018, la poste moldave a mis en circulation un timbre consacré au 100ème anniversaire de cette union entre la Bessarabie et la Roumanie ("Centenarul Unirii Basarabiei cu România").
At the beginning of the 20th century, following the disintegration of the Russian Empire after the revolution of February 1917, many personalities (Gherman Pântea, Anton Crihan, Pan Halippa, Constantin Stere...) campaigned for a rapprochement of Bessarabia with neighboring Romania, which was done through the proclamation of the Union of the Moldavian Democratic Republic (the name taken by autonomous Bessarabia after the Russian Revolution) and Romania, signed on April 9, 1918.
Previously, the autonomy and then the independence of the Moldavian Democratic Republic was proclaimed in Chişinău respectively on December 2, 1917 and January 24, 1918 by a legislative assembly called "Sfatul Ţării" ("Country Council").
On November 27, 2018, the Post of Moldova issued a stamp commemorating the 100th anniversary of this Union between Bessarabia and Romania ("Centenarul Unirii Basarabiei cu România").

Conçu par Vitaliu Pogolșa, ce timbre (5,75 L, tirage : 100000) figure en 2 exemplaires sur le FDC officiel ci-dessus (tirage : 300) avec TAD de Chișinău (MD-2012). Merci beaucoup Nicolae !
Ce timbre évoque les couleurs du drapeau roumain et moldave avec l'emblème de la Moldavie (tête d'auroch) au centre, avec l'acte d'union ("Actul Unirii") de 1918 dans le fond.
Une partie d'une photographie de 1918 est également reproduite dans le fond, montrant la joie des habitants de la localité de Lăpușna après la signature de cette union avec la Roumanie.
Une autre manifestation populaire est reproduite à gauche sur cette enveloppe, ayant eu lieu à Chișinău, devant l'hôtel de ville, le 27 mars 1918 (correspondant au 9 avril 1918 en réalité).
Cette union a pris fin le 28 juin 1940 lorsque la Russie a annexé à nouveau la Bessarabie dans le cadre du pacte secret Ribbentrop-Molotov...
La Roumanie a émis plusieurs timbres en 2018 consacré à cette union et à la création de la Grande Union (suite à l'intégration de la Bessarabie mais aussi de la Bucovine ou de la Transylvanie) mais quel dommage que ce thème n'ait pas fait l'objet d'une émission commune entre les 2 pays...
Designed by Vitaliu Pogolşa, that stamp (L 5.75, print run: 100,000) is present in two copies on the official FDC above (print run: 300) with cancellation from Chişinău (MD-2012). Thank you very much Nicolae!
That stamp evokes the colors of the Romanian and Moldovan flags with the emblem of Moldova (an auroch head) in the center, with the Union Act ("Actul Unirii") of 1918 in the background.
A part of a 1918's photograph is also reproduced in the background, showing the joy of the inhabitants of the locality of Lăpuşna after the signing of this union with Romania.
Another popular demonstration is reproduced on the left on this envelope, which took place in Chişinău, in front of the town hall, on March 27, 1918 (corresponding to April 9, 1918 in reality).
This union ended on June 28, 1940 when Russia annexed Bessarabia again as part of the secret Ribbentrop-Molotov pact ...
Romania issued several stamps in 2018 dedicated to this Union and the creation of Great Union (following the integration of Bessarabia but also Bucovina or Transylvania) but what a pity this theme did not lead to a joint stamp issue between the two countries ...
