Le 31 juillet 2013, la Guernsey Post a mis en circulation pour Alderney (Aurigny en français) une série de 6 timbres intitulée "La vie de Beatrix Potter" pour commémorer le 70ème anniversaire de la disparition de cette naturaliste et écrivaine anglaise, connue principalement pour ses contes illustrés pour la jeunesse, mettant en scène des animaux.
Ces 6 timbres, conçus par l'agence de design de Guernesey "The Potting Shed" et imprimés en France par Cartor Security Printing, ont également été émis dans le bloc-feuillet utilisé pour affranchir la lettre ci-dessous, envoyée le 1er avril 2019 d'Alderney.
Alderney est une île (2000 habitants) faisant partie du bailliage de Guernesey, située à 30 km au nord-ouest de Guernesey.
A partir de 1983, des timbres spécifiques à Alderney ont été émis, valables toutefois sur tout le territoire du bailliage de Guernesey.
On July 31, 2013, the Guernsey Post issued a series of 6 stamps for Alderney entitled "The Life of Beatrix Potter" to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the death of this English naturalist and writer, known primarily for her illustrated children's books, featuring animals.
These 6 stamps, designed by the Guernsey design agency "The Potting Shed" and printed in France by Cartor Security Printing, were also issued in the souvenir sheet used on the cover below, sent on April 1, 2019 from Alderney.

Cette série, plutôt réussie, représente Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) dans sa région de Cumbria (nord-ouest de l'Angleterre) où elle a puisé son imagination pour l'écriture, entre autres, de 23 contes entre 1902 et 1930.
J'aime bien le 1er timbre de cette série (40p) montrant Beatrix Potter rentrant d'une promenade vers son village natal de Near Sawrey, avec ce lapin au premier plan, sans doute un clin d'œil à son 1er conte "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" publié en 1902 ou au conte "The Tale of Benjamin Bunny" publié en 1904.
Les autres timbres mettent en scène Beatrix Potter, avec des paysages de Lake District dans le fond, en présence d'autres animaux (canard, souris, chien, chat, coq).
Dans ses contes, Beatrix Potter exploite l'anthropomorphisme, le fait d'attribuer à des animaux des caractéristiques humaines (sentiments, parole, marche sur deux pieds, port de vêtements...), même s'ils conservent beaucoup de leurs caractéristiques animales, contrairement à beaucoup d'autres contes du même type...

I love the first stamp of this series (40p) showing Beatrix Potter returning from a walk to her home village of Near Sawrey, with this rabbit in the foreground, probably a nod to her first tale "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" published in 1902 or "The Tale of Benjamin Bunny" published in 1904.
The other stamps feature Beatrix Potter, with Lake District landscapes in the background, in the presence of other animals (duck, mouse, dog, cat, rooster).
In her tales, Beatrix Potter exploits anthropomorphism, the attribution of animals to human characteristics (feelings, speech, walking on two feet, wearing clothes ...), even if they keep many of their animal characteristics, contrary to many other tales of the same type ...
