10 ans du Musée Leopold en Autriche - Premier Jour

10 years of the Leopold Museum in Austria - First Day of Issue

Merci beaucoup Edna :-)
The Austrian Post had already issued on June 12, 2010, a stamp dedicated to the famous expressionist painter Egon Schiele (1890-1918) at the occasion of the 120th anniversary of his birth.
A new painting by Schiele, entitled "Portrait of Walburga Neuzil" or "Wally" (1912), is reproduced on a new Austrian stamp, issued on September 23, 2011, devoted to the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Leopold Museum in Vienna.
It is this stamp (€ 0.62) that appears on the nice FDC from Vienna below with a FDC cancellation featuring this same portrait of "Wally". Thank you very much Edna :-)

This Leopold Museum, built in the Museumsquartier of the Austrian capital, is home to one of the largest collections of Austrian modern art (over 5,000 exhibits), in particular some paintings by Klimt, Kokoschka or Gerstl.
But this Museum, comprising works acquired during 50 years by the most important Austrian art collector Dr. Rudolph Leopold (1925-2010), contains the world's largest Egon Schiele collection, hence probably the choice of the stamp !
Edna had the good idea to complete her postage with two self-adhesive definitive stamps, issued on May 1, 2011 and June 20, 2011, devoted respectively to the Ars Electronica Center in Linz (7c), also called "Museum of the Future" and the Liaunig Museum in Neuhaus (5c) and its Avant-garde architecture.
