Timbres de Noël 2025 et TAD spécial "Saint-Nicolas" sur lettre d'Allemagne 

Merci beaucoup Jens pour cette jolie lettre envoyée le 6 décembre 2025  depuis le village de St. Nikolaus (D-66351 - commune de Großrosseln), situé dans le sud du Land de Sarre, près de la frontière française !
Depuis 1966, ce village dispose d'un bureau de poste de Noël ("Nikolauspostamt"), ouvert cette année entre le 4 et le 24 décembre 2025.
Saint-Nicolas, ou Nicolas de Myre, est un évêque né au 3ème siècle en Lycie (Anatolie), renommé pour sa charité et sa foi combattive. A l'origine du personnage du Père Noël, Saint-Nicolas est aujourd'hui le protecteur de nombreuses nations et de nombreux corps de métiers, fêté le 6 décembre.
Comme les années précédentes, un TAD spécial (conception : Geo Müller) a été mis en circulation (représentant Saint-Nicolas avec des enfants et un bonhomme de neige) et il a été appliqué le jour de la Saint-Nicolas sur cette lettre !

Since 1966, this village has a Christmas post office ("Nikolauspostamt"), opened this year between 4 and 24 December 2025. 
St. Nicholas, or Nicholas of Myre, is a bishop born in the 3rd century in Lycia (Anatolia), renowned for his charity and his combative faith. At the origin of the character of Santa Claus, St. Nicholas is today the protector of many nations and many trades, celebrated on December 6th.
As in previous years, a special postmark (design: Geo Müller) was put into circulation (depicting Saint Nicholas with children and a snowman) and it was applied on Saint Nicholas Day on this cover!  

Plus de 35000 lettres d'enfants ont été reçues l'année dernière par ce bureau de poste de St. Nikolaus.
Le timbre à gauche (0,95€, conception : Thomas Steinacker à partir du programme d'intelligence artificielle générative DALL-E) est un des deux timbres de Noël ("Weihnachten") émis le 3 novembre 2025, représentant ici un paysage enneigé baigné d'une lumière du soir, une forêt et des animaux.
L'autre timbre de Noël, ci-dessus à droite (0,95€ + 0,40€), conçu par Gerda M. Neumann und Horst F. Neumann, reproduit une scène de la Nativité (naissance de Jésus dans l'étable près de Bethléem) telle qu'elle est figurée sur un vitrail de la chapelle Nicolas-Gallus à Ratisbonne. 
Les trois auréoles de couleurs différentes sont particulièrement saisissantes. Malheureusement, aucune information n'existe concernant l'âge du vitrail, son créateur ou l'atelier verrier concerné...
More than 35,000 children's letters were received last year at this post office in St. Nikolaus.
The stamp on the left (€0.95, designed by Thomas Steinacker using the DALL-E generative artificial intelligence program) is one of two Christmas ("Weihnachten") stamps issued on November 3, 2025, depicting here a snowy landscape bathed in evening light, a forest, and animals.
The other Christmas stamp, above right (€0.95 + €0.40), designed by Gerda M. Neumann and Horst F. Neumann, reproduces a scene from the Nativity (the birth of Jesus in the stable near Bethlehem) as depicted in a stained-glass window in the Nicholas Gallus Chapel in Regensburg.
The three halos of different colors are particularly striking. Unfortunately, no information exists regarding the age of the stained glass window, its creator, or the glass workshop involved... 

Christmas 2025 special cover transported by hot air balloon from Germany to Austria

Courrier de Noël 2025 transporté par montgolfière d'Allemagne en Autriche 

Un grand merci Jens pour cette lettre très spéciale envoyée le 8 décembre 2025 depuis le village de Christkindl (A-4411) en Haute-Autriche !
Depuis 1950, la poste autrichienne ouvre chaque année un bureau de poste de Noël dans ce village de Christkindl ("Enfant-Jésus" en allemand) qui dispose, depuis 1965, d'oblitérations spéciales, valables cette année du 28 novembre au 31 décembre 2025.
Cette enveloppe a voyagé le 7 décembre 2025 à bord d'une montgolfière à l'occasion de la 64ème édition du "Weihnachts Ballonpost" ("Ballon monté de Noël"), entre Sonthofen (Bavière), la ville située le plus au sud de l'Allemagne, et ce village de Christkindl.
A noter en haut à gauche le cachet spécial appliqué à bord de cette montgolfière immatriculée D-OLPP (pilote : Stefan Dolpp), représentant l'église de pèlerinage de Christkindl.

Since 1950, the Austrian Post has opened a Christmas post office every year in this village of Christkindl ("Child Jesus" in German) which has, since 1965, some special postmarks valid this year from November 28 to December 31, 2025.
This envelope traveled on December 7, 2025 aboard a hot air balloon on the occasion of the 64th edition of the "Weihnachts Ballonpost" ("Christmas Balloon Post"), between Sonthofen (Bavaria), the southernmost town of Germany, and this village of Christkindl.
To note at the top left the special cachet applied on board this hot air balloon registered D-OLPP (pilot: Stefan Dolpp), featuring the pilgrimage church of Christkindl.  

Ce ballon a décollé de Sonthofen à 11h30 d'après le cachet rectangulaire vert appliqué en bas à gauche sur cette enveloppe, et a parcouru une distance de 12,7 km jusqu'à Kranzegg, à une altitude maximale de 1350 mètres.
A noter ce cachet noir évoquant cette 64ème édition "Weihnachts Ballonpost" avec ce ballon et Saint-Nicolas, et la mention "D'ici vers le monde entier" en allemand.
A noter aussi que cette opération postale, probablement l'une des plus anciennes campagnes caritatives philatéliques, permet de financer des dons pour le village d'enfants Pestalozzi à Wahlwies (nord-ouest du lac de Constance) et le village d'enfants SOS d'Ammersee-Lech.
Le TAD spécial de Christkindl (conception : Adolf Tuma) représente une scène de la Nativité, le timbre (1,20€, tirage : 1000000, conception : David Gruber), émis le 14 novembre 2025, étant l'un des 3 timbres de Noël émis cette année par la poste autrichienne. 
Ce timbre représente un vitrail gothique orné illustrant la Sainte Famille avec l'Enfant Jésus, situé dans l'église paroissiale et de pèlerinage Saint-Léonard de Bad St. Leonhard im Lavanttal, l'un des plus beaux édifices religieux gothiques de Carinthie.
Elle est réputée pour posséder la plus importante collection de vitraux gothiques de la province. Les quelque 140 précieux vitraux datant de la période 1340-1400 proviennent des ateliers Judenburg, célèbres pour leur savoir-faire, et représentent des scènes de la vie de Jésus et de saint Léonard. 
This hot balloon took off from Sonthofen at 11:30 a.m., according to the rectangular green inkmark in the lower left corner of the envelope, and traveled 12.7 km to Kranzegg, reaching a maximum altitude of 1350 meters.
To note the black cachet evoking this 64th edition of "Weihnachts Ballonpost", featuring the balloon and Saint Nicholas, and the inscription "From here to the whole world" in German.
Also note that this postal operation, probably one of the oldest philatelic charity campaigns, makes it possible to finance donations for the Pestalozzi children's village in Wahlwies (north-west of Lake Constance) and the SOS children's village in Ammersee-Lech.
The Christkindl special cancellation (design: Adolf Tuma) depicts a Nativity scene, the stamp (€1.20, print run: 1,000,000, design: David Gruber), issued on November 14, 2025, being one of three Christmas stamps issued this year by the Austrian Post. 
This stamp depicts an ornate Gothic stained glass window showing the Holy Family with the newborn baby Jesus, from the parish and pilgrimage church of St. Leonhard in Bad St. Leonhard im Lavanttal, one of the most beautiful Gothic religious buildings in Carinthia.
It is known for having the largest collection of Gothic stained glass windows in the province. The approximately 140 valuable glass paintings from the period between 1340 and 1400 originate from the Judenburg workshops, which were famous for their craftsmanship, and depict scenes from the lives of Jesus and St. Leonhard. 

"Colorful celebrations" (booklet) stamp on FDC from France

Un grand merci Roland pour ce pli spécial concernant l'un des 12 timbres autocollants d'un carnet intitulé "Des fêtes hautes en couleur" mis en vente générale le 10 novembre 2025.
D'après le communiqué de Philaposte concernant ce carnet : "Pour souhaiter des fêtes plus belles que jamais, ajoutez une touche de couleur à vos vœux avec notre série de timbres en édition limitée". 
A big thank you Roland for this special cover concerning one of the 12 self-adhesive stamps from a booklet entitled "Des fêtes hautes en couleur" ("Colorful celebrations") put on general sale on November 10, 2025.
According to the Philaposte press release about this booklet: "To wish everyone a holiday season more beautiful than ever, add a touch of color to your greetings with our limited-edition stamp series".

Les 12 timbres (tarif "Lettre Verte" - 1,52€ depuis le 1er janvier 2026) de ce carnet (tirage : 1919000), conçus par l'agence de communication BETC (Havas) à partir d'illustrations de Thomas Later, artiste spécialisé dans un style géométrique semi-abstrait et coloré, illustrent différents symboles de Noël comme le houx ci-dessus mais aussi les boules de Noël, le sapin, les cadeaux, les étoiles ou les cotillons.
J'aime beaucoup le TAD Premier Jour du 6 novembre 2025 de Paris ci-dessus (conception : BETC), représentant une boule de Noël.
The 12 stamps (Green Letter rate - €1.52 since January 1, 2026) in this booklet (print run: 1,919,000), designed by the communications agency BETC (Havas) using illustrations by Thomas Later, an artist specializing in a colorful, semi-abstract geometric style, depict various Christmas symbols such as holly above, as well as Christmas baubles, Christmas trees, gifts, stars, and party favors.
I particularly like the First Day cancellation dated November 6, 2025, above (design: BETC), which features a Christmas bauble.  

"Christmas 2025" stamp set and "Merry Christmas" postmark on cover from Luxembourg

Série "Noël 2025" et TAD "Joyeux Noël" sur lettre du Luxembourg 

Le 25 novembre 2025, la poste du Luxembourg a mis en circulation, comme de coutume, sa série "Noël 2025" (2 timbres), illustrant cette année l'atmosphère particulière des marchés de Noël aux nombreuses traditions.
Cette série à été conçue par l'artiste britannique Ben Carter (qui vit au Luxembourg), connu pour son style unique alliant langage visuel clair marqué par des éléments architecturaux et scènes reflétant une atmosphère particulière, ce qui se traduit par une ambiance festive restant toutefois élégante et équilibrée. 
Ces 2 timbres de bienfaisance (tirage : 110004), imprimés en France par Cartor Security Printing avec un vernis spécial "Glow in the dark", ont été utilisés sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 18 décembre 2025 depuis Luxembourg, la capitale. A noter cet élégant TAD spécial illustré "Joyeux Noël" incluant différentes décorations d'arbres de Noël.
On November 25, 2025, the Luxembourg Post put into circulation, as usual, its "Christmas 2025" series (two stamps). This year's series illustrates the unique atmosphere of Christmas markets and their many traditions.
This stamp set was designed by British artist Ben Carter (who lives in Luxembourg), known for his distinctive style that combines a clear visual language marked by architectural elements and scenes reflecting a particular atmosphere, resulting in a festive yet elegant and balanced ambiance.
These two charity stamps (print run: 110,004), printed in France by Cartor Security Printing with a special "glow-in-the-dark" varnish, have been used on the cover below, sent on December 18, 2025, from Luxembourg City. To note this elegant special "Merry Christmas" ("Joyeux Noël") illustrated postmark, which includes various Christmas tree decorations.  

Le timbre à gauche (1,20€ + 0,10€) représente la grande roue de Luxembourg-ville, devenue l'emblème rayonnant du marché "Winterlights" pendant la période de l'Avent. En arrière-plan, la Gëlle Fra (Monument du souvenir) et la cathédrale Notre-Dame, symboles marquants de la capitale, se dressent dans un décor hivernal de Noël.
L'autre timbre (1,70€ + 0,15€) illustre la pyramide de Noël typique, qui symbolise la joie de l'Avent et la tradition, dans la ville d'Esch-sur-Alzette. Là encore, un bâtiment familier de la ville, la maison communale, est plongé dans une ambiance festive qui met en valeur le charme particulier de la période précédant Noël. 
The stamp on the left (€1.20 + €0.10) depicts the Ferris wheel in Luxembourg City, which has become the radiant emblem of the "Winterlights" market during Advent. In the background, the Gëlle Fra (Monument of Remembrance) and Notre-Dame Cathedral, prominent symbols of the capital, stand out in a wintery Christmas scene.
The other stamp (€1.70 + €0.15) illustrates the typical Christmas pyramid, which symbolizes the joy of Advent and tradition, in the city of Esch-sur-Alzette. Here again, one of the city's familiar buildings, the city hall, is depicted in a festive manner, highlighting the special charm of the weeks in the runup to Christmas.

These two stamps have been each printed in sheet of 12 stamps.
Above is the special card sent by the Luxembourg Post for Christmas and the New Year festivities, including the "Luxembourg City" Christmas stamp and the "Christmas Pyramid of Esch-sur-Alzette" First Day cancellation.  

French prepaid cover 2025 sent by Santa Claus !

Enveloppe pré-timbrée française du Père Noël, version 2025 ! 

Style identique à 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 et 2024 concernant les enveloppes pré-timbrées 2025 envoyées par le secrétariat du Père Noël (employant environ 60 personnes) en France, ouvert entre le 19 novembre et le 20 décembre 2025 cette année.
Situé à Libourne (département de la Gironde), ce secrétariat fête cette année ses 63 ans d'existence et a reçu en 2024 plus d'un million de lettres (y compris environ 100000 courriers électroniques) d'enfants (plus ou moins grands !) en provenance de près de 130 pays différents !
Comme de coutume, un timbre personnalisé (type "IDTimbre"), représentant cette année un renne au milieu d'un paysage enneigé, est pré-imprimé sur cette enveloppe, valable pour un envoi "Lettre Verte" jusqu'à 50g (2,78 € actuellement). 
Same style as 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 for the 2025 prepaid envelopes sent by the Santa Claus secretariat (employing about 60 people) in France, open between November 19 and December 20, 2025 this year.
Located in Libourne (department of Gironde - 33), this secretariat celebrates this year its 63 years of existence and received in 2024 more than 1 million letters (including about 100,000 emails) from (more or less old) children from about 130 different countries! 
As usual, a personalized stamp (type "IDTimbre"), featuring this year a reindeer in a snowy landscape, is pre-printed on this envelope, valid for a "Green Letter"  domestic shipment up to 50g (€2.78 currently).

This weight limit of 50g is surprising since it no longer exists, the first two weight steps being 0-20g and 20g-100g...
To note again the absence of a precise date of shipment on this cover but only a round and red postmark (also pre-printed) with the words "Traineau - Père Noël" ("Sled - Santa Claus"), the year "2025" and "33500 Libourne".
As in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024: the mention of the "Secrétariat du Père Noël" at the top left and the mention "Lettre Verte" next to the stamp.
To note this pre-printed blue pictorial cancellation depicting Santa Claus on his sled (with "La Poste" mention, this is something new). 
As in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, no mention this year on the envelope of the author of the illustration reproduced on the stamp...

A noter la présence d'un pictogramme indiquant que l'enveloppe, la lettre et la carte postale peuvent être triées et recyclées.
Comme les années précédentes, une lettre du Père Noël (rédigée cette année en collaboration avec l'aventurier, écrivain et réalisateur Nicolas Vanier) et une carte à colorier (Père Noël sur son traineau) étaient jointes dans cette enveloppe.
As in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 also concerning the other side of this envelope above: no illustration but a curious address of Santa Claus in Lapland ("1, rue des Enfants Sages" - "1 Wise Children street"), the mention "PL 8216" reminding the Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, Finland, a few kilometers from the Arctic Circle.
To note the presence of a pictogram indicating that the envelope, the letter and the postcard can be sorted and recycled.
As in previous years, a letter from Santa Claus (written this year in collaboration with adventurer, writer and director Nicolas Vanier) and a coloring card (Santa Claus on his sleigh) were included in this envelope. 

"550 years since the birth of Michelangelo" stamp on cover from Bosnia and Herzegovina (HP Mostar)

Timbre "550 ans de la naissance de Michel-Ange" sur lettre de Bosnie-Herzégovine (HP Mostar) 

2025 marque le 550ème anniversaire de la naissance d'un des plus grands artistes de tous les temps, le sculpteur, peintre, architecte, poète et urbaniste florentin de la Haute Renaissance, Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, dit Michel-Ange (1475-1564).
Les capacités créatives et la maîtrise de Michel-Ange dans différents domaines artistiques le définissent comme un archétype de l'homme de la Renaissance, aux côtés de son rival et contemporain, Léonard de Vinci.
Certaines de ses œuvres sont considérées comme des chefs-d'œuvre de la Renaissance : David (1504), la Pietà (1499), exposée dans une chapelle latérale de la basilique Saint-Pierre au Vatican, Moïse (1515) du tombeau de Jules II dans la basilique Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens de Rome, le plafond de la chapelle Sixtine, peint entre 1508 et 1512, Le Jugement dernier, exécuté entre 1536 et 1541 sur le mur de l'autel de cette chapelle...
En tant qu'architecte, il conçoit en particulier le dôme de la basilique Saint-Pierre au Vatican en 1508.
2025 marks the 550th anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest artists of all time, the Florentine sculptor, painter, architect, poet, and urban planner of the High Renaissance, Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, known as Michelangelo (1475-1564).
Michelangelo's creative abilities and mastery in various artistic fields define him as an archetypal Renaissance man, alongside his rival and contemporary, Leonardo da Vinci.
Some of his works are considered Renaissance masterpieces: David (1504), the Pietà (1499), exhibited in a side chapel of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, Moses (1515) from the tomb of Julius II in the St. Peter in Chains Basilica in Rome, the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, painted between 1508 and 1512, and The Last Judgment, executed between 1536 and 1541 on the altar wall of this chapel.
As an architect, he notably designed the dome of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican in 1508.

Quelques administrations postales ont déjà émis des timbres en 2025 consacrés au 550ème anniversaire de la naissance de Michel-Ange : Roumanie, Italie, Ordre de Malte, Bosnie-Herzégovine (Sarajevo et HP Mostar), Vietnam, Cité du Vatican, Bulgarie.
La poste de Bosnie-Herzégovine (HP Mostar) a mis en circulation, le 6 mars 2025, un timbre (1,30 BAM, tirage : 5000, conception : Vijeko Lučić) sur ce thème, conçu à partir d'un portrait de Michel-Ange par Daniele da Volterra (vers 1545, Metropolitan Museum of Art de New York).
Ce timbre a été utilisé sur la lettre ci-dessus envoyée le 19 mai 2025 depuis la ville de Kiseljak (nord-est de Sarajevo). Merci beaucoup Miro !
Miro a utilisé un autre timbre (1,10 BAM, conception : Ernesto Markota) faisant partie d'une série (2 timbres) émise le 1er décembre 2022, consacrée aux festivités de Noël et de Nouvel An, en particulier à la tradition de Saint-Nicolas distribuant des cadeaux aux enfants.
Several postal administrations have already issued stamps in 2025 dedicated to the 550th anniversary of Michelangelo's birth: Romania, Italy, the Order of Malta, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo and HP Mostar), Vietnam, Vatican City, and Bulgaria.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina Post (HP Mostar) issued a stamp (1.30 BAM, print run: 5,000, design: Vijeko Lučić) on this theme on March 6, 2025, based on a portrait of Michelangelo by Daniele da Volterra (circa 1545, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York).
This stamp was used on the above cover sent on May 19, 2025, from the city of Kiseljak (northeast of Sarajevo). Thank you very much, Miro!
Miro used another stamp (1.10 BAM, design: Ernesto Markota) that is part of a series (2 stamps) issued on December 1, 2022, dedicated to Christmas and New Year festivities, in particular the tradition of Saint Nicholas distributing gifts to children.  

"Christmas Market 2024 in Herford - Flying Santa" postmark on cover from Germany

TAD "Marché de Noël 2024 à Herford" sur lettre d'Allemagne

Du 24 novembre au 30 décembre 2024, le marché de Noël a à nouveau ouvert ses portes dans le centre-ville de Herford (Land de Rhénanie-du-Nord–Westphalie).
Le temps fort de cette année était le Père Noël volant ("Fliegender Weihnachtsmann"), qui survolait la place de l'Hôtel de Ville, sur sont traineau tiré par des rennes, deux fois par jour (à 17h et 19h).
Le 8 décembre 2024, la Deutsche Post a mis en circulation, en collaboration avec l'association philatélique locale "Junge Briefmarkenfreunde Herford", un TAD spécial consacré à ce marché de Noël d'Herford ("Herforder Weihnachtsmarkt") et ce Père Noël volant.
Un grand merci Jens pour la jolie lettre ci-dessous incluant ce TAD bleu (conception : Wittmann Medien), affranchie avec le timbre de Noël (0,85€), imprimé en feuillet de 10 timbres, émis le 2 novembre 2024. 
From November 24 to December 30, 2024, the Christmas market reopened its doors in the town center of Herford (North Rhine-Westphalia).
This year's highlight was the Flying Santa Claus ("Fliegender Weihnachtsmann"), who flew over the town hall square on his reindeer-drawn sleigh twice a day (at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.).
On December 8, 2024, the Deutsche Post, in collaboration with the local philatelic association "Junge Briefmarkenfreunde Herford", released a special postmark dedicated to this Herford Christmas market ("Herforder Weihnachtsmarkt") and this Flying Santa.

Ce timbre de bienfaisance (surcharge de 0,40€), conçu par Dieter Ziegenfeuter et Susanne Wustmann, est consacré à un vitrail "Lumière céleste" contemporain situé dans l'abbaye bénédictine Saint-Maurice de Tholey (Land de Sarre), considérée comme le plus ancien monastère sur le sol allemand, mentionné pour la première fois en 634.
L'artiste germano-afghane Mahbuba Elham Maqsoodi (née en 1957) a conçu 34 vitraux de cette abbaye, dont celui reproduit sur le timbre, en particulier consacré à la Sainte Famille.
Associé à trois vitraux de l'artiste allemand Gerhard Richter, l'art du verre coloré de Maqsoodi réussit non seulement à faire dialoguer l'architecture historique et l'esthétique du 21ème siècle, tout en donnant au spectateur un tout nouveau regard sur les histoires bibliques. L'installation de ces vitraux entre 2019 et 2021 signifiait aussi une sorte de nouvelle naissance pour l'abbaye elle-même : presque abandonnée, l'abbaye est désormais non seulement un lieu de pèlerinage pour les croyants, mais aussi un lieu de pèlerinage pour les amateurs d'art.
Jens a complété l'affranchissement avec 2 timbres faisant partie de la série courante intitulée "Welt der Briefe" ("Un monde de lettres", conception : Bettina Walter), initiée en décembre 2021, représentant respectivement un paon dont la roue est constituée de lettres (0,15€, émis le 1er août 2024) et un hippocampe avec un message dans une bouteille (0,10€, émis le 2 novembre 2022). 
This charity stamp (€0.40 surcharge), designed by Dieter Ziegenfeuter and Susanne Wustmann, features a contemporary "Heavenly Light" stained-glass window located in the Benedictine St. Maurice Abbey in Tholey (Saarland), considered the oldest monastery on German soil, first mentioned in 634.
German-Afghan artist Mahbuba Elham Maqsoodi (born in 1957) designed 34 stained-glass windows in this abbey, including the one depicted on the stamp, devoted to the Holy Family in particular.
Combined with three stained-glass windows by German artist Gerhard Richter, Maqsoodi's stained-glass art not only succeeds in creating a dialogue between historical architecture and 21st-century aesthetics, but also offers the viewer a whole new perspective on biblical stories. The installation of these stained-glass windows between 2019 and 2021 also signified a kind of rebirth for the abbey itself: almost abandoned, the abbey is now not only a place of pilgrimage for believers, but also a place of pilgrimage for art lovers.
Jens completed the postage with two stamps from the definitive series entitled "Welt der Briefe" ("A world of letters", design: Bettina Walter), initiated in December 2021, depicting respectively a peacock with a feather's train made of letters (€0.15, issued on August 1, 2024) and a seahorse with a message inside a bottle (€0.10, issued on November 2, 2022).

De nombreuses traditions ancestrales relatives aux fêtes d'hiver sont toujours vivantes chez les moldaves. Ayant des formes très variées, elles impliquent toutes une participation collective, surtout des enfants, ce qui donne à la fête son caractère joyeux.
Traditionnellement, Noël était associé en Moldavie à l'église, sa célébration étant par conséquent marquée d'une teinte religieuse. Noël était précédé d'un carême que beaucoup respectent encore de nos jours. Comme en hiver les paysans n'étaient pas trop occupés aux travaux agricoles traditionnels, pendant les longues soirées ils se consacraient à l'artisanat, les femmes tissaient, tricotaient, tandis que les hommes tressaient.  
Le 6 décembre 2024, la poste moldave a mis en circulation un joli timbre consacré au festival des traditions et coutumes d'hiver ("Festivalul Datinilor și Obiceiurilor de Iarnă"). 
Many ancestral traditions relating to winter festivals are still alive among people from Moldova. Having very varied forms, they all involve a collective participation, especially of children, which gives the festival its joyful character.
Traditionally, Christmas was associated in Moldova with the church, its celebration therefore being marked with a religious tint. Christmas was preceded by a Lent that many still respect today. As in winter the peasants were not too busy with traditional agricultural work, during the long evenings they devoted themselves to handicrafts, the women weaving, knitting, while the men braiding.
On December 6, 2024, the Post of Moldova put into circulation a nice stamp dedicated to the Winter Customs and Traditions Festival ("Festivalul Datinilor și Obiceiurilor de Iarnă"). 

Sauf erreur, il s'agit d'une référence au festival-concours municipal des traditions et coutumes d'hiver "Vivre, fleurir!" (28ème édition), organisé du 02 au 22 décembre 2024 par la Direction générale de l'éducation, de la jeunesse et des sports du Conseil municipal de Chișinău.
L'objectif principal étant la promotion et la capitalisation des us et coutumes populaires liées aux vacances d'hiver, comme le laboureur, la chèvre et les jeux folkloriques, qui apportent joie et bonne humeur dans la vie de chacun.
Ce timbre (5 L, tirage : 100000), imprimé en feuillet de 10 timbres et conçu par Veronica Coroli à partir d'une illustration de Galina Vieru, figure sur le FDC officiel ci-dessus (tirage : 200) avec TAD de Chișinău (MD-2012). Merci beaucoup Nicolae !
Nicolae a utilisé également un timbre (7L, tirage : 90000), conçu par Liudmyla Kozhokar, faisant partie d'une série (3 timbres) émise le 25 août 2023, illustrant différents chefs-d'œuvre du folklore en langue roumaine, la "Balade de Toma Alimoș" ici.
Toma Alimoș est un personnage mythologique de l'histoire roumaine, très aimé pour sa droiture et son lien avec la nature, personnage central de cette balade, recueillie par Vasile Alecsandri et publiée en 1850 dans la revue Bucovina. 
Unless I'm mistaken, this is a reference to the municipal winter traditions and customs festival "To Live, to Flourish!" (28th edition), organized from December 2 to 22, 2024, by the General Directorate of Education, Youth, and Sports of the Chișinău City Council.
The main objective is to promote and capitalize on popular customs and traditions related to the winter holidays, such as the plowman, the goat, and folk games, which bring joy and good humor to everyone's life.
This stamp (5 L, print run: 100,000), printed in a sheetlet of 10 stamps and designed by Veronica Coroli from an illustration by Galina Vieru, is present on the official FDC above (print run: 200) with postmark from Chișinău (MD-2012). Thank you very much, Nicolae!
Nicolae also used a stamp (7L, print run: 90,000), designed by Liudmyla Kozhokar, part of a series (3 stamps) issued on August 25, 2023, illustrating various masterpieces of folklore in Romanian, the "Ballad of Toma Alimoș" here.
Toma Alimoș is a mythological character of Romanian history, much loved for his righteousness and his link with nature, central character of this ballad, collected by Vasile Alecsandri and published in 1850 in the magazine Bucovina.

TAD "Crèche de Noël à Lahti 2024" sur lettre de Finlande

La tradition des crèches de Noël, mettant en scène la naissance de l'enfant Jésus, est particulièrement vivante dans le sud de l'Europe, mais les crèches sont également très présentes dans la ville finlandaise de Lahti.
Depuis 2001, des crèches de Noël sont en effet exposées chaque année à partir de début décembre (jusqu'à l'épiphanie début janvier), dans différents commerces et établissements du centre-ville de Lahti, située dans le sud du pays, à environ 100 km au nord-est d'Helsinki.
Pour accompagner cette tradition, la poste finlandaise met en circulation chaque année (depuis 2005) un TAD spécial avec mention "Seimikaupunki Lahti" ("Crèche de Noël Lahti") pour les vœux de Noël. 
Ce TAD, conçu par Jukka Talari, change chaque année mais reste basé sur la même représentation de la Sainte Famille. 
The tradition of Christmas nativity scenes (cribs) featuring the birth of the baby Jesus is particularly vibrant in southern Europe, but nativity scenes are also very popular in the Finnish city of Lahti.
Since 2001, Christmas nativity scenes have been displayed every year from early December (until Epiphany in early January) in various shops and establishments in downtown Lahti, located in the south of the country, about 100 km northeast of Helsinki.
To celebrate this tradition, the Finnish Post has issued a special postmark every year (since 2005) bearing the inscription "Seimikaupunki Lahti" ("Lahti Christmas Nativity Scene") for Christmas greetings.
This cancellation, designed by Jukka Talari, changes every year but remains based on the same depiction of the Holy Family.

Entre le 2 et le 16 décembre 2024, ce nouveau TAD a été mis en circulation, représentant une colombe de la paix au premier plan et le clocher de l'église de la Croix ("Ristinkirkko"), l'église principale de Lahti, achevée en 1978 dans un style moderniste, l'un des derniers projets du célèbre architecte finlandais Alvar Aalto (1898-1976).
Ce TAD a été applique sur cette enveloppe (pas sur les timbres...), affranchie avec les timbres de Noël émis le 6 novembre 2024 par la poste finlandaise Posti. Merci beaucoup Liisa !
Ces 2 timbres, conçus par Hanna-Maria Mainelakeus, s'inspirent de la nature finlandaise, mettant en valeur la magie des paysages hivernaux, avec un timbre "Miracle de Noël" (tarif spécial pour les vœux de Noël - 1,60€) montrant un renne devant un arbre de Noël décoré, et un 2ème timbre "Chemin de Noël" (tarif domestique jusqu'à 50g - 2,50€) représentant des rennes se dirigeant vers une maison, sous un ciel multicolore avec des aurores boréales.
Between December 2 and 16, 2024, this new postmark was put into circulation, depicting a dove of peace in the foreground and the bell tower of the Church of the Cross ("Ristinkirkko"), Lahti's main church, completed in 1978 in a modernist style, one of the last projects of the famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto (1898-1976).
This cancellatiobn was applied to this envelope (not on the stamps...), franked with the Christmas stamps issued on November 6, 2024, by Posti's Finland Post. Thank you very much, Liisa!
These two stamps, designed by Hanna-Maria Mainelakeus, are inspired by Finnish nature, highlighting the magic of winter landscapes, with a "Christmas Miracle" stamp (special rate for Christmas greetings - €1.60) showing a reindeer in front of a decorated Christmas tree, and a 2nd "Christmas Path" stamp (domestic rate up to 50g - €2.50) showing reindeer heading towards a house, under a multi-colored sky with Northern Lights.

Timbre "Noël 2024 - American St. Nick" sur lettre du Luxembourg

Le 12 novembre 2024, la poste du Luxembourg a mis en circulation, comme de coutume, sa série "Noël 2024" (2 timbres), évoquant un événement émouvant qui s'est produit en décembre 1944 à Wiltz, une ville située dans le nord du Luxembourg.
Peu après le retrait des troupes allemandes après 4 années d'occupation, c'est un triste Noël qui s'annonçait pour les habitants de cette ville profondément marquée par la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Consciente de la situation, la 28ème division d'infanterie de l'armée américaine, en convalescence à Wiltz après de durs combats, a souhaité apporter un peu de joie à la population, et en particulier aux enfants.
Après avoir entendu parler du "Kleeschen" (Saint-Nicolas en luxembourgeois), le caporal Harry Stutz a eu l'idée d'organiser une fête avant Noël pour les enfants. Son camarade, le caporal Richard Brookins, s'est ainsi déguisé en "American St. Nick", dans un costume improvisé. 
On November 12, 2024, the Luxembourg Post put into circulation, as usual, its "Christmas 2024" series (2 stamps), commemorating a touching event that took place in December 1944 in Wiltz, a town in northern Luxembourg.
Shortly after the German troops withdrew after four years of occupation, the inhabitants of the town, which had been scarred by the Second World War, were faced with a sad Christmas. The 28th Infantry Division of the US Army, which was recovering after heavy fighting in Wiltz, recognised the bleak situation and wanted to bring some joy to the people, especially the children.
Corporal Harry Stutz learned about Luxembourg's "Kleeschen" (St. Nicholas) and decided to organise a pre-Christmas celebration for the children. His comrade, Corporal Richard Brookins, dressed up as "American St. Nick" in an improvised costume.

Il a parcouru les rues de Wiltz jusqu'au château dans une jeep de l'armée, accompagné de deux jeunes filles déguisées en anges. Les enfants ont reçu des friandises préparées avec les rations des soldats et ont pu faire part de leurs souhaits de Noël à Saint-Nicolas.
Malheureusement, quelques jours plus tard, Wiltz fût durement touchée lors de la bataille des Ardennes et de nombreux habitants ont perdu la vie. Mais le souvenir de cette Saint-Nicolas si particulière est resté bien vivant. Après la guerre, Wiltz a été reconstruite et l'Œuvre Saint-Nicolas, fondée en 1949 par des commerçants de Wiltz, honore le geste des soldats américains en perpétuant chaque année la tradition de cet "American St. Nick". 
Un des 2 timbres de cette série (1,40€ + 0,15€), conçue par Marco Zorzi et imprimée en France par Cartor Security Printing, a été utilisée sur la lettre ci-dessus, avec TAD spécial "Joyeux Noël" (Arbre de Noël) du 19 décembre 2024 de la ville de Luxembourg. Merci beaucoup Maxim ! 
He drove through the streets of Wiltz to the castle in an army jeep, accompanied by two girls in angel costumes. The children received sweets made from the soldiers' rations and were allowed to share their Christmas wishes with St. Nicholas.
Unfortunately, Wiltz was badly hit only days later in the Battle of the Bulge, and many residents lost their lives. However, the memory of that special St. Nicholas Day remained vivid. After the war, Wiltz was rebuilt, and the "Œuvre Saint-Nicolas", founded by local businesspeople in 1949, continues to honour the American soldiers' gesture by carrying on the American St. Nick tradition each year. 
One of the two stamps of this series (€1.40 + €0.15), designed by Marco Zorzi and printed in France by Cartor Security Printing, was used on the cover above, with special "Joyeux Noël" postmark (Christmas Tree) of December 19, 2024 from the city of Luxembourg. Thank you very much Maxim!

Le TAD Premier Jour du 12 novembre 2024 a été appliqué ici, représentant Saint-Nicolas lors de sa distribution de cadeaux aux enfants, avec un tour du château de Wiltz (également représenté sur le timbre) dans le fond. 
Ce château, construit au 13ème siècle, remanié dans un style Renaissance au 17ème siècle, abrite aujourd'hui le Musée national d'Art brassicole et le Musée de la bataille des Ardennes, ainsi qu'un office de tourisme.

The First Day cancellation of November 12, 2024 has been applied here, depicting Saint Nicholas distributing gifts to children, with a tour of Wiltz Castle (also depicted on the stamp) in the background.
This castle, built in the 13th century and remodelled in a Renaissance style in the 17th century, now houses the National Museum of Brewing Art and the Museum of the Battle of the Bulge, as well as a tourist office.

Cette série (chacun des 4 timbres - sapin de Noël, boule de Noël, étoile, cristal de neige - a été imprimé en carnet de 10 timbres) fait penser à de petites fenêtres du calendrier de l'Avent.
En regardant bien, on y voit le motif dans le motif: des paysages hivernaux idylliques qui invitent à la contemplation, à travers des symboles typiques de Noël, comme cette décoration en forme d'étoile ici.

Looking through them reveals a design within the design: idyllic winter landscapes that invite you to pause for a moment, through typical Christmas symbols, such as this star-shaped decoration here. 

Chaque année pendant la période (avant) Noël, la poste de Berne-Bethlehem met en place un bureau de poste spécial, installé dans un chalet de Noël, où les lettres peuvent être oblitérées avec un cachet spécifique sur place.
C'est ce TAD spécial, représentant un sapin de Noël cette année, qui a été appliqué le 6 ou 7 décembre 2024 sur la lettre ci-dessus.
Bethlehem, ville de Cisjordanie, lieu de naissance de Jésus de Nazareth d'après la Bible, est le nom de ce district situé dans l'ouest de la capitale suisse.  
A noter que des autocollants décoratifs figurent dans les marges de ces 4 carnets, comme cette voiture et cette étoile sur l'enveloppe ci-dessus. 
Every year during the (pre) Christmas period, the Bern-Bethlehem post sets up a special post office, installed in a Christmas chalet, where letters can be postmarked with a specific postmark on site.
It is this special postmark, representing a Christmas tree this year, which was applied on December 6 or 7, 2024 on the cover above.
Bethlehem, a city in the West Bank, birthplace of Jesus of Nazareth according to the Bible, is the name of this district located in the west of the Swiss capital.
To note that decorative stickers appear in the margins of these four booklets, like this car and this star on the envelope above.

C'est cette atmosphère qui est illustrée sur le timbre spécial de la Deutsche Post, mis en circulation le 2 novembre 2024, intitulé "Noël pour les enfants / Boulangerie de Noël" ("Weihnachten für Kinder / Weihnachtsbäckerei").

What would Christmas be without the wonderful smell of freshly baked cookies, a cosy living room and the annual Christmas carols?
Children in particular are full of anticipation during Advent: with shining eyes, they write their wish lists to Santa Claus or the Baby Jesus, decorate the Christmas tree and count down the days until the party.
This atmosphere is illustrated on the Deutsche Post special stamp, put into circulation on November 2, 2024, entitled "Christmas for Children / Christmas Bakery" ("Weihnachten für Kinder / Weihnachtsbäckerei").
This stamp (€0.85), designed by Jan-Niklas Kröger based on an illustration by Julia Ginsbach (born in 1967), the author of the "Tafiti" albums in particular, including a matrix code and printed in a sheetlet of 10 stamps, was used on the cover below with blue First Day cancellation from Berlin. The stamp motif shows an atmospheric illustration of the Christmas carol "The Christmas Bakery" (1987) by the musician and composer Rolf Zuckowski (born 1947). This carol talks about the tastes found in a Christmas bakery, while adding the risks of creating a mess when mixing the ingredients...
With this stamp, a very special cooperation with Ravensburger (German company specializing in the manufacture and distribution of games, toys, books and puzzles,) was realized for this year's Advent.

Depuis 1950, la poste autrichienne ouvre chaque année un bureau de poste spécial dans ce village de Christkindl ("Enfant-Jésus" en allemand) qui dispose, depuis 1965, de deux oblitérations spéciales valables respectivement pour les fêtes de Noël (du 1er au 24 décembre) et pour les vœux de nouvelle année (du 27 décembre au 6 janvier).
Cette enveloppe a voyagé le 8 décembre 2024 à bord d'une montgolfière à l'occasion de la 63ème "Weihnachts Ballonpost" ("Ballon monté de Noël"), entre Sonthofen (Bavière), la ville située le plus au sud de l'Allemagne, et ce village de Christkindl.
A noter en haut à gauche le cachet spécial appliqué à bord de cette montgolfière immatriculée D-OLPP (pilote : Stefan Dolpp), représentant l'église de pèlerinage de Christkindl.

Since 1950, the Austrian Post has opened a special post office each year in this village of Christkindl ("Child Jesus" in German) which has, since 1965, two special postmarks valid respectively for the Christmas holidays (from the December 1 to the December 24) and for New Year's greetings (from December 27 to January 6).
This envelope traveled on December 8, 2024 aboard a hot air balloon on the occasion of the 63rd "Weihnachts Ballonpost" ("Christmas Balloon Post"), between Sonthofen (Bavaria), the southernmost town of Germany, and this village of Christkindl.
To note at the top left the special cachet applied on board this hot air balloon registered D-OLPP (pilot: Stefan Dolpp), featuring the pilgrimage church of Christkindl.

A noter ce cachet noir évoquant cette 63ème édition "Weihnachts Ballonpost" avec ce globe terrestre et la mention "De là vers le monde entier" en allemand.
A noter aussi que cette opération postale, probablement l'une des plus anciennes campagnes caritatives philatéliques, permet de financer des dons pour le village d'enfants Pestalozzi à Wahlwies (nord-ouest du lac de Constance) et le village d'enfants SOS d'Ammersee-Lech.
Le TAD spécial de Christkindl (conception : Adolf Tuma) représente une scène de la Nativité, le timbre (1,20€, tirage : 232500, conception : Marion Füllerer), émis le 14 novembre 2024, étant l'un des 4 timbres de Noël émis cette année par la poste autrichienne.
Ce timbre est consacré à la crèche de Traismauer (Basse-Autriche), un spectacle de marionnettes historique avec une représentation de la Sainte Famille ici. La crèche de Traismauer (42 personnages en bois) remonte à 1810 et est aujourd'hui l'un des derniers théâtres de marionnettes à tiges d'Autriche. Jusqu'à 30 personnes participent au spectacle, dont une chorale, des solistes vocaux, des musiciens, un animateur et un metteur en scène.
This balloon took off from Sonthofen at 11:30 am according to the green rectangular postmark applied at the bottom left on this envelope, and traveled a distance of 10.8 km, at a maximum altitude of 900 meters.
Note this black cachet evoking this 63rd "Weihnachts Ballonpost" edition with this globe and the words "From there to the whole world" in German.
Also note that this postal operation, probably one of the oldest philatelic charity campaigns, makes it possible to finance donations for the Pestalozzi children's village in Wahlwies (north-west of Lake Constance) and the SOS children's village in Ammersee-Lech.
The Christkindl special cancellation (design: Adolf Tuma) depicts a Nativity scene, the stamp (€1.20, print run: 232,500, design: Marion Füllerer), issued on November 14, 2024, being one of four Christmas stamps issued this year by the Austrian Post.
This stamp is dedicated to the Traismauer Nativity Scene (Lower Austria), a historical puppet show with a representation of the Holy Family here. The Traismauer Nativity Scene (42 wooden figures) dates back to 1810 and is today one of the last rod puppet theatres in Austria. Up to 30 people take part in the show, including a choir, vocal soloists, musicians, a host and a director. 

French prepaid cover 2024 sent by Santa Claus !

Enveloppe pré-timbrée française du Père Noël, version 2024 !

Style identique à 2020, 2021, 2022 et 2023 concernant les enveloppes pré-timbrées 2024 envoyées par le secrétariat du Père Noël (employant environ 60 personnes) en France, ouvert entre le 20 novembre et le 20 décembre 2024 cette année.
Situé à Libourne (département de la Gironde), ce secrétariat fête cette année ses 62 ans d'existence et a reçu en 2023 plus d'un million de lettres (y compris environ 100000 courriers électroniques) d'enfants (plus ou moins grands !) en provenance de près de 130 pays différents !
Comme de coutume, un timbre personnalisé (type "IDTimbre"), représentant cette année un cheval à bascule au milieu d'un paysage enneigé, est pré-imprimé sur cette enveloppe, valable pour un envoi "Lettre Verte" jusqu'à 50g (2,58 € actuellement). 
Same style as 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 for the 2024 prepaid envelopes sent by the Santa Claus secretariat (employing about 60 people) in France, open between November 20 and December 20, 2024 this year.
Located in Libourne (department of Gironde - 33), this secretariat celebrates this year its 62 years of existence and received in 2023 more than 1 million letters (including about 100,000 emails) from (more or less old) children from about 130 different countries!

This weight limit of 50g is surprising since it no longer exists, the first two weight steps being 0-20g and 20g-100g...
To note again the absence of a precise date of shipment on this cover but only a round and red postmark (also pre-printed) with the words "Traineau - Père Noël" ("Sled - Santa Claus"), the year "2024" and "33500 Libourne".
As in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023: the mention of the "Secrétariat du Père Noël" at the top left and the mention "Lettre Verte" next to the stamp.
To note this pre-printed blue pictorial cancellation depicting Santa Claus on his sled.

A noter la présence d'un pictogramme indiquant que l'enveloppe, la lettre et la carte postale peuvent être triées et recyclées.
Comme les années précédentes, une lettre du Père Noël (rédigée cette année en collaboration avec la chanteuse Olivia Ruiz) et une carte à colorier (Père Noël) étaient jointes dans cette enveloppe.
As in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 also concerning the other side of this envelope above: no illustration but a curious address of Santa Claus in Lapland ("1, rue des Enfants Sages" - "1 Good Children Street"), the mention "PL 8216" reminding the Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, Finland, a few kilometers from the Arctic Circle.
To note the presence of a pictogram indicating that the envelope, the letter and the postcard can be sorted and recycled.
As in previous years, a letter from Santa Claus (written this year in collaboration with singer Olivia Ruiz) and a coloring card (Santa Claus) were included in this envelope.

TAD "Lumière de la Paix de Bethléem 2023" sur lettre de République tchèque

La Lumière de la Paix de Bethléem est une action initiée en 1986 en Autriche afin de lutter contre la pauvreté et apporter la paix, reprise par les scouts autrichiens.
Chaque année, quelques jours avant Noël, une lumière est allumée dans la grotte de la nativité à Bethléem et partagée en relais à travers l'Europe et l'Amérique du Nord.
En République tchèque, cette Lumière est apparue en 1989 pour la première fois, peu après l'effondrement du régime communiste.
Cette année, cette Lumière de Bethléem, symbole de Noël, a été transportée de Vienne à Brno via le train 372 Vindobona afin d'être présentée dans la cathédrale Saint-Pierre-et-Paul le 10 décembre 2023.
Cette Lumière a ensuite été transportée dans la cathédrale d'Olomouc puis de Prague le 16 décembre 2023.
The Peace Light of Bethlehem is an action initiated in 1986 in Austria in order to fight against poverty and bring peace, taken over by Austrian Scouts. 
Each year, a few days before Christmas, a light is lit in the Nativity Cave in Bethlehem and relayed throughout Europe and North America. 
In Czech Republic, this Light appeared in 1989 for the first time, shortly after the collapse of the communist regime. 
This year, this Light of Bethlehem, symbol of Christmas, was transported from Vienna to Brno via train 372 Vindobona to be presented in the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul on December 10, 2023.  
This Light was then transported to the cathedral of Olomouc and then Prague on December 16, 2023.  

Cette Lumière de Bethléem, symbolisant l'amitié, la paix et la naissance de Jésus-Christ, avait pour devise cette année "Faisons la paix", dans le contexte de tension au Moyen-Orient.
Comme en 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 et 2022, du 16 au 23 décembre 2023, la poste tchèque a mis en circulation dans ces 3 villes de Brno, Olomouc et Prague, un même TAD consacré à cette Lumière de Bethléem ("Betlémské světlo"), avec une représentation de cette Lumière et une fleur de lys, symbole du mouvement scout.
Ce TAD (conception : Tomáš Říha) a été appliqué le 23 décembre 2023 par le bureau principal de Prague 1, sur la jolie lettre ci-dessus. Merci beaucoup Slavek !
Le timbre (tarif "A" - 34 CZK) utilisé ici est le timbre de Noël, émis le 5 novembre 2014, montrant une œuvre de l'illustrateur et écrivain tchèque Josef Lada (1887-1957) représentant une scène de la nativité, intitulée "Bethlehem en hiver" (Galerie nationale de Prague), datant de 1942.
Slavek a également utilisé 2 timbres identiques faisant partie de la série courante consacrée à l'architecture traditionnelle dans le pays, une façade d'une maison du village de Bušanovice (5 CZK, émis le 19 décembre 2012) ici. 
This Light of Bethlehem, symbolizing friendship, peace and the birth of Jesus Christ, had the motto this year "Let us make peace", in the context of tension in the Middle East.
As in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, from December 16 to 23, 2023, the Czech Post put into circulation in these 3 cities of Brno, Olomouc and Prague, the same postmark dedicated to this Light of Bethlehem ("Betlémské světlo"), with a representation of this Light and a fleur-de-lis, symbol of the scout movement.
This postmark (design: Tomáš Říha) was applied on December 23, 2023 by the main post office of Prague 1, on the pretty cover above. Thank you very much Slavek!
The stamp (rate "A" - 34 CZK) used here is the Christmas stamp, issued on November 5, 2014, showing a work by Czech illustrator and writer Josef Lada (1887-1957) depicting a nativity scene, entitled "Bethlehem in Winter" (National Gallery of Prague), dating from 1942.
Slavek also used two identical stamps being part of the definitive series devoted to folk architecture in the country, a facade of a house in the village of Bušanovice (5 CZK, issued on December 19, 2012) here.

"Christmas - traditional dishes" stamp set on FDC from Moldova

De nombreuses traditions populaires existent encore en Moldavie pendant la période de Noël, en particulier des processions, "Plugușorul" et "Steaua", effectuées dans les villages.
On dîne et fait la fête généralement en famille chez soi, autour d'un généreux repas. Traditionnellement, dans la culture moldave, le menu de Noël peut comporter des feuilles de chou farcies de riz avec de la viande (sarmale), des viennoiseries (colaci)...
Le vin chaud est aussi une boisson traditionnelle très appréciée durant la période de Noël.
Le 19 décembre 2023, la poste moldave a mis en circulation une jolie série (2 timbres, conception : Maria Maximenco) consacrée à des plats traditionnels lors de cette période de Noël ("Crăciunul. Bucate tradiționale"). 
Many popular traditions still exist in Moldova during the Christmas period, in particular processions, "Plugușorul" and "Steaua", carried out in villages.
We generally dine and celebrate with family at home, around a generous meal. Traditionally, in Moldovan culture, the Christmas menu can include cabbage leaves stuffed with rice with meat (sarmale), pastries (colaci)...
Mulled wine is also a traditional drink very popular during the Christmas period.
On December 19, 2023, the Post of Moldova has put into circulation a nice series (2 stamps, design: Maria Maximenco) dedicated to traditional dishes during this Christmas period ("Crăciunul. Bucate tradiționale").

Ces 2 timbres, imprimés chacun en feuillet de 10 timbres, figurent sur le FDC officiel ci-dessus (tirage : 200) avec TAD de Chișinău (MD-2012). Merci beaucoup Nicolae !
Des feuilles de vigne ou de choux farcies avec un mélange de viande, de riz et de légumes (sarmale), différents types de pains, des poivrons farcis (chiperi umpluți) figurent sur le premier timbre de cette série (3,30 L, tirage : 140000).
L'autre timbre (10.30 L, tirage : 60000) représente différentes sortes de charcuteries, des saucisses en particulier ainsi que le caltaboș, une sorte d'andouille principalement à base d'organes de porc.
Comme en Roumanie voisine, le porc, le bœuf et le mouton servent à la confection de ces charcuteries traditionnelles.
These two stamps, each printed in sheetlets of 10 stamps, are present on the official FDC above (print run: 200) with cancellation from Chișinău (MD-2012). Thank you very much Nicolae!
Vine or cabbage leaves stuffed with a mixture of meat, rice and vegetables (sarmale), different types of bread, stuffed peppers (chiperi umpluți) are featured on the first stamp of this series (3.30 L, print run : 140,000).
The other stamp (10.30 L, print run: 60,000) represents different kinds of cold meats, sausages in particular as well as caltaboș, a kind of andouille mainly made from pork organs.
As in neighboring Romania, pork, beef and mutton are used to make these traditional cold meats.

Un grand merci Maxim pour ce pli spécial concernant l'un des 12 timbres autocollants d'un carnet intitulé "Des timbres qui nous rapprochent" mis en vente générale le 6 novembre 2023.
D'après le communiqué de Philaposte concernant ce carnet : "Noël, c’est le plus beau moment de l'année pour échanger avec ses proches. En s'envoyant des cadeaux ou en s'écrivant de gentils mots, les fêtes permettent de resserrer les liens qui nous unissent. Avec La Poste, rapprochons-nous encore plus de ceux que nous aimons pour partager le plus joyeux des Noëls.". 
A big thank you Maxim for this special cover concerning one of the 12 self-adhesive stamps from a booklet entitled "Stamps that bring us together" put on general sale on November 6, 2023.

Timbre et vignette Noël 2023 (Salutations des îles de la Paix) sur lettre d'Åland

Comme les années précédentes, la poste de l'archipel d'Åland, un territoire autonome rattaché à la Finlande, a mis en circulation une oblitération spéciale pour affranchir les courriers au départ d'Åland pendant la période de Noël.
C'est ce TAD qui a été appliqué sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 21 décembre 2023 depuis Mariehamn, la principale ville et capitale. Merci beaucoup Liisa !
Cette oblitération représente un julbock, une décoration traditionnelle en forme de petite chèvre (ou bouc) en paille, un des plus vieux symboles des fêtes de Noël dans les pays scandinaves.
La mention "God Jul" ("Joyeux Noël" en suédois, la langue officielle d'Åland) est également incluse sur ce TAD.
Liisa a utilisé un des 2 timbres de Noël mis en circulation le 20 octobre 2023, conçus par l'illustrateur, peintre et graphiste finlandais Lasse Harkkala, vivant à Geta, dans le nord d'Åland. Lasse Harkkala avait déjà conçu le timbre EUROPA émis en 2022 illustrant les mythes et légendes.
As in previous years, the postal administration of Åland, an autonomous Finnish territory, has put into circulation a special cancellation to postmark letters sent from Åland during the Christmas period.
This postmark was applied on the cover below sent on December 21, 2023 from Mariehamn, the main city and capital. Thank you very much Liisa!
This cancellation is featuring a julbock, a traditional decoration consisting of a small goat made of straw, one of the oldest symbols of Christmas in Scandinavia.
The words "God Jul" ("Merry Christmas" in Swedish, the official language of Åland) are also included on this postmark.
Liisa used one of the two Christmas stamps released on October 20, 2023, designed by the Finnish illustrator, painter and graphic designer Lasse Harkkala, living in Geta, in northern Åland. Lasse Harkkala had already designed the EUROPA stamp issued in 2022 illustrating myths and legends.  

Ce timbre (tarif prioritaire "Monde 20g" - 3,20€ actuellement, tirage : 45000) met en scène un ange et une colombe diffusant un message de paix, de compassion, d'espoir et de lumière au monde (à noter la mention "Pax" et le drapeau d'Åland sur la valise transportée par l'ange).
Pour rappel, l'archipel d'Åland est une zone neutre et démilitarisée, souvent surnommée les "îles de la Paix".
Sur le timbre ci-dessus, l'ange porte un pendentif "fleur Blomman", un véritable objet fabriqué à la main par la joaillière Guldviva, symbole d'Åland depuis sa première production en 1992.
Comme de coutume également, le même jour, la poste d'Åland a mis en circulation un feuillet constitué de 20 vignettes de Noël autocollantes (4 différentes, prix de vente : 5€, tirage : 2500 feuillets), également conçu par Lasse Harkkala, illustrant ces mêmes anges et colombes de la paix.
Liisa a utilisé en haut à gauche sur cette enveloppe l'une de ces vignettes, représentant une colombe faisant un câlin à un cygne chanteur (Cygnus cygnus).
La poste d'Åland émet des vignettes de Noël depuis 1993 et les bénéfices des ventes ont contribué à de nombreux projets et organisations caritatifs à Åland au fil des ans, comme la Croix-Rouge locale cette année. 
This stamp (priority rate "World 20g" - €3.20 currently, print run: 45,000) features an angel and a dove spreading a message of peace, compassion, hope and light to the world (note the mention "Pax" and the flag of Åland on the suitcase carried by the angel).
As a reminder, the Åland archipelago is a neutral and demilitarized zone, often nicknamed the "Islands of Peace".
On the stamp above, the angel wears a "Blomman flower" pendant, a real object handcrafted by the jeweler Guldviva, symbol of Åland since its first production in 1992.
As is also usual, on the same day, Åland Post put into circulation a sheetlet made up of 20 self-adhesive Christmas seals (4 different designs, sale price: €5.00, print run: 2,500 sheetlets), also designed by Lasse Harkkala, illustrating these same angels and doves of peace.
Liisa used one of these seals at the top left on this envelope, depicting a dove cuddling a whooper swan (Cygnus cygnus).
Åland Post has been issuing Christmas seals since 1993 and proceeds from the sales have contributed to numerous charitable projects and organizations on Åland over the years, such as the local Red Cross this year.

"Christmas 2008 - Adoration of the Magi" joint stamp with Vatican City, on cover from Germany

Timbre "Noël 2008 - Adoration des mages", commun avec le Vatican, sur lettre d'Allemagne

Le 13 novembre 2008, les administrations postales d'Allemagne et de la Cité du Vatican ont mis en circulation une série commune (2 timbres) à l'occasion des festivités de Noël, illustrant des œuvres respectives d'Albrecht Dürer ("La naissance de Jésus-Christ", 1498) et de Raphaël (Adoration des mages, 1519).
La version allemande du timbre consacré à Raphaël (1483-1520) a été utilisée en 2 exemplaires (avec marge supérieure du feuillet mentionnant cette émission commune avec le Vatican) sur cette lettre envoyée le 27 novembre 2023 depuis la ville de Weiden in der Oberpfalz (Bavière). Merci beaucoup Jens !
A noter ce TAD spécial "Esprit de Noël" ("Weihnachtsstimmung") représentant l'ancien hôtel de ville de Weiden in der Oberpfalz ainsi qu'un arbre de Noël et une étoile filante. Ce TAD (conception : Geo Müller) a été également proposé au public le 24 décembre 2023, dernier jour de la période de l'Avent.
Un TAD similaire "Esprit de Noël" (avec porte de Brandebourg) a été mis en circulation les mêmes jours à Berlin.
On November 13, 2008, the postal administrations of Germany and Vatican City put into circulation a joint series (2 stamps) on the occasion of the Christmas festivities, illustrating respective works by Albrecht Dürer ("The Birth of Jesus Christ", 1498) and Raphael (Adoration of the Magi, 1519).
The German version of the stamp dedicated to Raphael (1483-1520) was used in two copies (with upper margin of the sheetlet mentioning this joint issue with Vatican City) on this cover sent on November 27, 2023 from the town of Weiden in der Oberpfalz, Bavaria. Thank you very much Jens!
To note this special "Christmas Spirit" ("Weihnachtsstimmung") cancellation depicting the old town hall of Weiden in der Oberpfalz as well as a Christmas tree and a shooting star. This postmark (design: Geo Müller) was also offered to the public on December 24, 2023, the last day of the Advent period.
A similar "Christmas Spirit" postmark (with Brandenburg Gate) was put into circulation on the same days in Berlin. 

Ce timbre reproduit une fresque illustrant l'Adoration des mages (Évangile selon Matthieu), un épisode de la vie du Christ avec la visite des Rois mages lors de sa nativité. Dans l'Occident chrétien, cette scène est commémorée à l'Épiphanie.
Cette fresque a été peinte vers 1519 par le célèbre peintre et architecte italien de la Haute Renaissance Raphaël, dans l'une des chambres du Palais apostolique du Vatican, une des résidences du pape.
La partie des musées du Vatican incluse dans ce Palais apostolique comprend la chapelle Sixtine, la chapelle Nicoline, les appartements Borgia et ces Chambres de Raphaël.
Les quatre Chambres de Raphaël forment une suite de salles de réception dans la partie publique des appartements papaux. Tout comme la fresque du plafond de la chapelle Sixtine exécutée par Michel-Ange, ces fresques de Raphaël, commandées par le pape Jules II (et terminées sous le pontificat de Léon X), sont des œuvres majeures de la Haute Renaissance.
This stamp reproduces a fresco illustrating the Adoration of the Magi (Gospel of Matthew), an episode in the life of Jesus with the visit of the three Magi during his nativity. In the Christian West, this scene is commemorated on Epiphany.
This fresco was painted around 1519 by famous Italian High Renaissance painter and architect Raphael, in one of the rooms of the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican City, one of the pope's residences.
The part of the Vatican Museums included in this Apostolic Palace includes the Sistine Chapel, the Nicoline Chapel, the Borgia Apartments and these Raphael Rooms.
Raphael's four Rooms form a series of reception rooms in the public part of the papal apartments. Like the ceiling fresco of the Sistine Chapel executed by Michelangelo, these frescoes by Raphael, commissioned by Pope Julius II (and completed under the pontificate of Leo X), are major works of the High Renaissance.
