Joint set "50 years of diplomatic relations with Ethiopia" on cover from China

Série commune "50 ans de relations diplomatiques avec l'Éthiopie" sur lettre de Chine

La République démocratique fédérale d'Éthiopie et la République Populaire de Chine ont établi des relations diplomatiques le 1er décembre 1970 lorsque la Chine a accepté de reconnaître l'Érythrée comme partie intégrante de l'Éthiopie, en échange de la reconnaissance par Haile Selassie de Taïwan comme faisant partie de la Chine.
Les relations entre les 2 pays ont ensuite été parfois tendues mais la Chine est aujourd'hui un des principaux partenaires économiques de l'Éthiopie, en particulier en finançant des infrastructures, dans le cadre de l'Initiative route et ceinture, une des priorités de la diplomatie chinoise, sous la présidence de Xi Jinping.
Le 24 novembre 2020, les administrations postales des 2 pays (à confirmer concernant l'Éthiopie) ont mis en circulation une jolie série commune (2 timbres) consacrée au 50ème anniversaire de ces relations diplomatiques, représentant des parcs situés dans les 2 capitales, Beijing et Addis-Abeba. 
The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the People's Republic of China established diplomatic relations on December 1, 1970 when China agreed to recognize Eritrea as an integral part of Ethiopia, in exchange of Haile Selassie's recognition of Taiwan as Chinese.
Relations between the 2 countries were then sometimes strained but China is today one of Ethiopia's main economic partners, in particular by financing infrastructure, as part of the Road and Belt Initiative, one of the priorities of the Chinese diplomacy, under the presidency of Xi Jinping.
On November 24, 2020, the postal administrations of the 2 countries (to be confirmed concerning Ethiopia) put into circulation a nice joint series (2 stamps) dedicated to the 50th anniversary of these diplomatic relations, representing parks located in the 2 capitals, Beijing and Addis Ababa.

 

La version chinoise de cette série (1,20 yuan pour chaque timbre imprimé en feuillet de 12 timbres), conçue par Ma Lihang, a été utilisée pour affranchir en partie cette lettre envoyée le 5 décembre 2020 depuis la ville de Shenyang (province du Liaoning). Merci beaucoup Wenbo !
Le timbre ci-dessus à gauche est consacré au parc Sheger à Addis-Abeba, inauguré le 11 septembre 2020, financé en partie par le gouvernement chinois. Ce parc fait partie du projet d'embellissement "Entot-Akaki Riverside" de 58 kilomètres de long, comprenant également des centres culturels, une galerie d'art et des lieux de science et de technologie.
L'autre timbre représente le parc de la forêt olympique à Beijing, construit lors des jeux olympiques de 2008 non loin du stade national (le "nid d'oiseau"), dominé par son imposante tour olympique (258 mètres de haut). 
Le petit timbre "protection de l'air" (0,60 yuan) à droite, fait partie de la série courante intitulée "Protection de la patrie commune de l'humanité" émise le 2 février 2002.
Le 4ème timbre ci-dessus (3 yuan) fait partie d'une série de 6 timbres émise le 19 mai 2013, intitulée "Beautiful China". Ce timbre représente une vue aérienne du système agricole (culture maraîchère et aquaculture) de Xinghua Duotian dans la province du Jiangsu, développé en zone humide en harmonie entre l'homme et la nature.

The Chinese version of this series (1.20 yuan for each stamp printed in sheet of 12 stamps), designed by Ma Lihang, was used to partially frank this letter sent on December 5, 2020 from the city of Shenyang (Liaoning province). Thank you very much Wenbo!

The stamp above to the left is dedicated to Sheger Park in Addis Ababa, inaugurated on September 11, 2020, partially funded by the Chinese government. This park is part of the 58 kilometer long "Entot-Akaki Riverside" beautification project, which also includes cultural centers, an art gallery and places of science and technology.

The other stamp shows the Olympic Forest Park in Beijing, built during the 2008 Olympic Games not far from the National Stadium (the "Bird's Nest"), dominated by its imposing Olympic Tower (258 meters high).

The small "air protection" stamp (0.60 yuan) on the right is part of the definitive series entitled "Protecting the common homeland of mankind" issued on February 2, 2002.

The above 4th stamp (3 yuan) is part of a set of six stamps issued on May 19, 2013, entitled "Beautiful China". That stamp features an aerial view of the agricultural system (vegetable farming and aquaculture) of Xinghua Duotian in Jiangsu Province, developed on wetland in harmony between man and nature.

A noter le TAD très net du 11 mars 2014 à gauche, émis par le département philatélique de la poste éthiopienne.
Le timbre à gauche (0,40 birr) fait partie d'une série de 4 timbres, émise le 31 octobre 2006, consacrée à l'année internationale des déserts et de la désertification. Les Nations Unies célébraient alors 50 ans de recherche dans ce domaine et rappelait que la désertification menaçait plus du tiers de la surface de la Terre et affectait directement la vie de plus de 250 millions d'êtres humains...
Ce timbre montre un intéressante carte de l'Éthiopie (datant de 1998) avec les zones les plus arides et sèches du pays.

The stamp on the left (0.40 birr) is part of a series of 4 stamps, issued on October 31, 2006, devoted to the International Year of Deserts and Desertification. The United Nations then celebrated 50 years of research in this area and pointed out that desertification threatened over one third of the Earth's land surface and directly affected the lives of more than 250 million people...
This stamp shows an interesting map of Ethiopia (dating from 1998) with the most arid and dry areas of the country.

Le timbre au centre (3 birr) fait partie d'une série de 3 timbres émise le 30 décembre 2008 pour célébrer le 60ème anniversaire des relations diplomatiques avec l'Inde. Le chiffre 6 est constitué à partir du drapeau indien alors que le 0 évoque le drapeau éthiopien (l'étoile sur fond bleu a été ajoutée en 1996).
Le dernier timbre à droite, émis en 2013 (avec millésime 2012), fait partie d'une série de 4 timbres évoquant le 125ème anniversaire de la fondation d'Addis Abeba. L'emplacement de la capitale aurait été choisi par l'épouse du Negus Menelik II en 1886.
Ce timbre représente en particulier, dans sa partie droite, la porte d'entrée de l'université d'Addis Abeba ainsi que le squelette de la célèbre Lucy (conservé au musée national d'Éthiopie), découvert en 1974 à Hadar, datant d'environ 3,2 millions d'années.
Ces timbres incluent des mentions en anglais et en amharique, la langue de travail du gouvernement fédéral éthiopien. A noter également que ces 3 timbres ont tous été conçus par Bogale Belachew (63 ans) qui a créé plus de 100 timbres pour la poste éthiopienne, son 1er timbre ayant été émis en 1973 (50ème anniversaire d'Interpol).
The stamp in the middle (3 birr) is part of a set of three stamps issued on December 30, 2008 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations with India. The number 6 is formed from the Indian flag while the 0 refers to the Ethiopian flag (the star on a blue background was added in 1996).
The last stamp to the right, issued in 2013 (printed with the year 2012), is part of a series of 4 stamps referring to the 125th anniversary of the founding of Addis Ababa. The location of the capital would have been chosen by the wife of Negus Menelik II in 1886.
That stamp is featuring in particular, on its right side, the front door of the Addis Ababa University as well as the famous Lucy's skeleton (kept at the National Museum of Ethiopia), discovered in 1974 in Hadar, dating from about 3.2 million years.
These stamps include references in English and Amharic, the working language of the Ethiopian federal government. To note also that these three stamps have all been designed by Bogale Belachew (63 years) who has created more than 100 stamps for the Ethiopian Post since his first stamp issued in 1973 (50th anniversary of Interpol).
