Black Rhino and Butterfly (overprinted) stamps on cover from Malawi

Thank you very much Tristan for this lovely cover from Malawi, sent on March 29, 2023 from the southern city of Zomba, which was the capital of this former British colony called Nyasaland then Malawi after independence in 1964 (replaced in 1974 by Lilongwe).
The first stamps of Malawi were issued on July 6, 1964. Stamps had previously been issued under the names of the British Central Africa Protectorate from 1891 and later the Nyasaland Protectorate and Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland from 1908 and 1954.
Like many other countries in Southern Africa, Malawi has been hit hard by the international crisis and recorded an inflation rate of around 25% in the first quarter of 2023.

This probably explains the reissue of old stamps with higher nominal values (overprint to cross out the old value and indicate the new one).
This is the case for the small stamp above including a surcharge of 900 Kwacha applied in June 2022, initially a stamp (105 Kwacha) issued in 2007 in a series of 11 stamps devoted to different species of butterfly living in the country, Acraea acrita here.
The two other identical stamps (135 Kwacha) are part of a series (5 stamps) issued on November 3, 2011, devoted to local fauna and in particular to the "Big five", a set of 5 mammals put forward by tourist authorities, the African lion, the African leopard, the African elephant, the black rhinoceros and the African buffalo.
The black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis), depicted on this stamp, is a critically endangered species, reintroduced to South Africa, Malawi and Swaziland after local populations there were wiped out.

50 years of independence, bird and Lake Malawi on cover from Malawi

Thank you very much Tristan for this beautiful letter, the first one received from Malawi, sent on March 12, 2018 from the southern city of Zomba, which was the capital of this former British colony called Nyasaland then Malawi after independence in 1964 (replaced in 1974 by Lilongwe).
The geography of this small country in southern Africa is characterized by the Great Rift (crossing the country from north to south) and by Lake Malawi (the 3rd largest lake in Africa), occupying the eastern part of the country (its area covers 20% of the territory) and the border with Tanzania and Mozambique.
On April 25, 2014, the Malawi Post issued a series (10 stamps) devoted to this Lake Malawi, of which two were used to the right on this letter.
