UPAEP 2019 stamp (Traditional dishes - Paella) on cover from Spain

Merci beaucoup Luis !
After pets in 2018 and before architecture in 2020 and tourism in 2021, the theme chosen in 2019 for the América-UPAEP stamp issues was devoted to gastronomy and traditional dishes ("Comidas tradicionales" in Spanish) in particular.
As a reminder, UPAEP (Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal) is a restricted union of the UPU, established in 1911, bringing together about thirty countries and territories.
Like EUROPA stamps, UPAEP stamps are issued each year since 1989 by around fifteen countries.
The Spanish Post Correos put into circulation, on October 11, 2019, a UPAEP stamp (€ 1.50, print run: 180,000) illustrating this theme of traditional dishes, paella in particular.
This large format stamp, including the UPAEP logo at the bottom left, was used on this letter sent on November 13, 2020 from the city of Alicante. Thank you very much Luis!

This stamp is therefore dedicated to one of the symbols of Spain and one of the most famous dishes in the world, through this large dish of paella, this spoon in the foreground and a beach in the background. The origins of this rice and saffron-based dish would date back to the 15th or 16th century in rural areas of Valencia. Peasants then needed easy recipes to prepare with the ingredients they had on hand in the field: birds, rabbit or hare and fresh vegetables, all mixed with rice, saffron, olive oil and water.
Variants based on fish and seafood appeared later.
The other stamp above (permanent rate "B" for a shipment in Europe - currently € 1.45), issued on April 10, 2018, is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Castles of Valderas ("Castillos de Valderas"), in the framework of a "Artistic heritage" series.
These castles were built (architect: Luis Sainz de los Terreros) in 1917 in Alcorcón (town in the south of the Community of Madrid) by a Marquis of Valderas, a benefactor of this municipality, to house his family there.
Fallen into ruins several times over the century (some buildings have been destroyed), this site now houses the Alcorcón Museum of Glass Art (MAVA).

The Principality of Monaco has dedicated many stamps to Princess Grace, including during her lifetime, and in particular put into circulation on October 4, 2004, a souvenir sheet (3 stamps + 1 label) on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of her birth.
This souvenir sheet was used on this letter sent on November 16, 2020 from Monaco (with a postmark of the OETP - "Office des Émissions de Timbres-Poste").
The 3 stamps of this souvenir sheet (blue ink) depict Grace Kelly at different ages of her life, the central stamp (€ 1.75), one of the last stamps of Monaco engraved by the Polish master Czesław Słania (1921-2005), showing her in 1956 during her marriage, aged 27.
The 2 other stamps were respectively engraved by 2 other masters of engraving, Pierre Albuisson (€ 0.75) and Martin Mörck (€ 3.50), the label (monogram of the princess) having been engraved by Elsa Catelin.
To note that an imperforated version of this souvenir sheet (with green ink) was also put into circulation on December 3, 2004 on the occasion of the "MonacoPhil" philatelic exhibition.

"Korean Sport & Olympic Committee 100th anniversary" stamps on FDC from South Korea

In the midst of the occupation of the Korean Peninsula by the Japanese Empire, Joseon athletes, including many studying abroad in Tokyo, gathered on July 13, 1920 at the central church in Seoul's Insa-dong district to found the Joseon Sports Society. The first baseball competition was organized barely 3 months later, at the origin of the National Sports Festival, which still exists today in South Korea.
The first football and tennis competitions followed in 1921. The Joseon Sports Society was dissolved after merging with the Joseon Sports Association in July 1938, but was restored after the liberation of the country and renamed Korea Sport Council in 1948, an organization recognized by the IOC the same year.
On June 30, 2020, the Korean Post issued a stamp (380 won) dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of this Joseon Sports Society, ancestor of the current Korean Sport and Olympic Committee.

This stamp was printed by Southern Color Print in a sheet consisting of 16 stamps.
Two stamps extracted from the top of the sheet (with illustrated margin) have been used on this pretty First Day cover, with postmarks from Nambusan. Thank you very much Ji-Ho!
This stamp features 3 athletes, with blue, red and white jerseys recalling the colors of the national flag, practicing these 3 sports disciplines (baseball, tennis, football) organized for the first time by the Joseon Sports Society in 1920 and 1921. A tennis racket, a baseball and a soccer ball are depicted on the cancellation.
The country has participated in the Summer and Winter Olympics since 1948 and has won 337 medals (121 gold) to date, regularly finishing in the top 10 countries since 1984 (especially thanks to archery and short track speed skating).
South Korea is one of the rare countries to have organized winter and summer Olympic games, a FIFA World Cup as well as the biggest world championships (athletics, swimming).

EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) stamp set on cover from Serbia

As usual, the Serbian Post put into circulation, on May 5, 2020, its EUROPA set (2 stamps) this year devoted to the theme of the "ancient postal routes" ("Drevni poštanski putevi" in Serbian).
A big thank you Branislav for this nice cover, sent by registered mail on November 6, 2020 from the city of Sombor (north of the country), franked with these two EUROPA stamps!
To note that these two very pretty stamps (design: Boban Savić) were each printed in a sheetlet composed of 8 stamps + 1 central label representing respectively a carrier pigeon and an old post horn (see example on the left on this envelope).
The EUROPA logo, included on the stamps, also appears on these labels as well as in the upper margin of each sheetlet (see the 2 stamps below).
This series illustrates means of mail transport used over the centuries in the present territory of Serbia, in particular during the time of the Ottoman Empire when a network existed, made up of tatars (postal messengers on foot), a large number of horses, menzulanas (relay stations), inns and caravanserais.

In addition to tatars, proclamations and public orders were carried from the 17th century on by pedestrian messengers called "sahiyas", especially over shorter distances and over difficult terrain where these runners were faster than horses.
Sahiyas were hardy, armed people, appropriately dressed and wore jingle bells under the left knee as a sign of recognition (the tinkle announced their arrival in a populated area and helped them keep the rhythm while striding).
The stamp above on the left (74 dinars, print run: 50,000) represents one of these sahiyas, with the imposing fortress of Golubac (14th century) in the background.
After the Second Serbian Uprising against the Turks in 1815, when news had to be passed on foot and quickly, Prince Miloš I Obrenović used his tatars and later messengers who traveled on coaches, exploiting the existing network of menzulanas on four main roads (Belgrade-Radujevac, Belgrade-Aleksinac, Belgrade-Mokra Gora and Belgrade-Loznica).
This network also included the fast and safe transport of mail on board ships, on the Danube and the Sava rivers, as illustrated by the other EUROPA stamp above (108 dinars, print run: 50,000), with the fortress of Smederevo (or Belgrade?) in the background.

"Raffaello Sanzio (1483-1520)" stamp on FDC from Moldova

Several postal administrations (France, Vatican, Italy, San Marino, SMOM, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Bulgaria ...) put into circulation stamps in 2020 dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the death of the famous Italian painter and architect of the Renaissance, Raffaello Sanzio (1483-1520).
On October 13, 2020, the Post of Moldova released the second part of a series entitled "Personalities who changed world history" ("Personalități care au schimbat istoria lumii"), devoted to Mother Teresa (110th anniversary of the birth), Raffaello Sanzio (500th anniversary of the death), Ludwig van Beethoven (250th anniversary of the birth) and Florence Nightingale (200th anniversary of the birth).
As in 2019, these 4 stamps, designed by Vladimir Melnic, were each printed in a sheetlet consisting of 8 stamps + 1 label.
Thank you very much Nicolae for sending this official FDC (print run: 300) regarding the stamp dedicated to
Raffaello Sanzio (1.75 L, print run: 12,000), with its associated postmark from Chișinău (MD-2012)!

Considered during his lifetime as an almost divine being, Raffaello Sanzio embodies the classical perfection of Renaissance art and a major reference in Western painting.
In 1504, he produced his first masterpiece, "The Marriage of the Virgin", then a stay in Florence allowed him to learn art from his illustrious elders such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.
Established in Rome in 1508, he received the prestigious commission to decorate the frescoes of the apartments of Pope Julius II in the Vatican and was subsequently appointed architect of the new St. Peter's Basilica.
The Moldovan stamp reproduces a self-portrait of Raffaello Sanzio dating from 1506 (Uffizi Gallery in Florence), the background of the envelope showing part of a drawing (circa 1510, Albertina Museum in Vienna) entitled "Wedding of Alexander and Roxana".
Another portrait of Raffaello Sanzio is featured on the left on this envelope, inspired by the work "Self-portrait with a friend" (around 1518, Louvre Museum in Paris).

Nicolae completed his postage, to reach the postal rate for a priority shipment (up to 20g) to France (11 L currently) with 4 other stamps on the back of this envelope above.
These 4 identical stamps (2.50 rubles then 2.50 L from February 1, 2006) are part of a series of 4 stamps issued on July 20, 1992, representing the same supersonic aircraft, with different colors.

For each of the 4 stamps in this series, a maxicard (print run: 300, design: Vladimir Melnic) has also been put into circulation, such as the example above concerning this "Raffaello Sanzio" stamp.
This card reproduces another painting by Raffaello Sanzio entitled "Portrait of Agnolo Doni" (c. 1506, Uffizi Gallery in Florence).

Lebanon-France joint stamps (2008) on cover from Lebanon

A big thank you Waref for this interesting letter sent on November 5, 2020 from the Chouran district of Beirut, franked with the Lebanese version (1750 Lebanese pounds) and the French version (€ 0.85) of the joint stamp issued on November 21, 2008 between these 2 countries!
This stamp, designed by Jean-Paul Cousin, printed in France by Phil@poste for the 2 countries, illustrates the ties of friendship between France and Lebanon, with a map of the Mediterranean basin and 2 emblematic trees of each country: an (evergreen ?) oak for France and a Lebanon cedar (Cedrus libani).
To note that a stamp dedicated to the cultural heritage of Lebanon had already been issued in France in 1999, devoted to a mosaic "The abduction of Europe by Zeus" discovered on the site of Byblos, one of the oldest cities in the world.

Ties between Lebanon and France are very old, probably dating back to the 11th century when Mount Lebanon was inhabited by the Maronites, one of the most important Christian communities in the Near East. Over the centuries, this Christian land will forge links with France. During the Seventh Crusade, King Louis IX thus committed to the Maronites to ensure their protection.
More recently, France played a major role in the birth of Lebanon as it exists today, particularly in 1860 when Napoleon III sent an expeditionary force to once again protect the Maronite community, after massacres perpetrated by the Druze Muslims.
The "Greater Lebanon", under French administration, was created in 1920 and the country will then obtain its independence in 1943.
Cultural (more than economic) ties are still very strong between the 2 countries, sharing the French language (around 40% of the Lebanese population speaks French), literature, cinema ...
France is the country in Europe where the Lebanese community is the largest (around 250,000 people), far behind Brazil or the USA however.

As a reminder, the World Post Day ("Světový den pošty" in Czech) is celebrated every year on October 9th (since 1969) to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in Bern.
According to the UPU, "the purpose of World Post Day is to create awareness of the role of the postal sector in people’s and businesses’ everyday lives and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries".
Given the global health situation linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, the various events organized as part of this World Post Day 2020 were virtual and special tribute was paid to the role of postal employees during this period.

Around 150 countries celebrate World Post Day in different ways each year, including Czech Republic, which put into circulation in Prague on October 9, 2020, a new special cancellation.
This postmark (design: Tomáš Říha), representing a terrestrial globe with a letter and the symbol of a mechanical cancellation, has been applied to the envelope above. Thank you very much Slavek!
Slavek used here two identical stamps (21 CZK), issued on October 5, 2011, also dedicated to World Post Day. This stamp depicts an allegory by Slovak illustrator Dušan Kállay, featuring Hermes, the messenger of the gods, playing horn (postal symbol) on a globe around which doves carrying letters are flying.

On October 24, 2020, the Slovenian postal administration put into circulation a stamp dedicated to this 75th anniversary of the United Nations.

This stamp (€ 1.22, print run: 40,000), designed by Matjaž Učakar, was used on the cover above sent on October 27, 2020 from the town of Kranj. Thank you very much Petra!
This stamp features the official logo of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations (United Nations emblem, mention "UN75", with the associated slogan "Shaping our future together" in Slovene).
I don't really understand the meaning of this multicolored hand even if I suppose it symbolizes the diversity of the 193 member countries of this organization whose main objective is the development of friendly relations between nations and international cooperation to solve world problems and the promotion of human rights ...
Slovenia was a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council over the period 1998-1999 and the country is active within this institution, in particular concerning the maintenance of peace and the prevention of conflicts as well as the protection of the environment and support for the 17 sustainable development goals, defined in 2015.

"Mother Teresa (1910-1997)" stamp on FDC from Moldova

After Louis Braille, Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi and Leonardo da Vinci in 2019, the Post of Moldova put into circulation, on October 13, 2020, the 2nd part of a series entitled "Personalities who changed world history" ("Personalități care au schimbat istoria lumii"), devoted this time to Mother Teresa (110th anniversary of the birth), painter Raphael (500th anniversary of the death), Ludwig van Beethoven (250th anniversary of the birth) and Florence Nightingale (200th anniversary of the birth).
As in 2019, these 4 stamps, designed by Vladimir Melnic, were each printed in a sheetlet consisting of 8 stamps + 1 label.
Thank you very much Nicolae for sending this official FDC (print run: 300) regarding the stamp dedicated to Mother Teresa (1.20 L, print run: 37600), with its associated postmark from Chișinău (MD-2012)!

Mother Teresa (1910-1997), Anjezë Gonxha Bojaxhiu of her real name, is an Albanian Catholic nun (born in Skopje in an Albanian family from Kosovo) known for having founded the religious community of the Missionaries of Charity in the service of the poorest (in Kolkata in particular).
Mother Teresa received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2003 before a canonization by Pope Francis in the Vatican on September 4, 2016.
I really love the illustration on this envelope (also designed by Vladimir Melnic) showing the benevolent and smiling face of Mother Teresa with many children's faces in the background, her work with the needy having started in Kolkata with the education of children living in the streets.

Nicolae completed his postage, to reach the postal rate for a priority shipment (up to 20g) to France (11 L currently) with 2 other stamps on the back of this envelope above.
The stamp on the right (50 rubles then 0.50 L from December 15, 1995) is part of the 2nd series of 4 stamps issued on July 25, 1993, representing the same supersonic aircraft, with different colors.
The other stamp (9.50 L) is part of a nice series "Treasures of the past" (4 stamps) issued on May 18, 2017, dedicated to various gold and silver objects preserved in the National Museum of History in Chişinău. This stamp depicts a "Monstruoso" type's fibula (golden silver) discovered in 1976 in the region of Hansca (Ialoveni district), dating from the 3rd or 4th century (pre-Slavic culture of Cherniakhov).
These 4 stamps were each printed in a sheetlet made up of 8 stamps + 1 central label featuring the facade of this museum (like the example above).

For each of the 4 stamps in this series, a maxicard (print run: 300, design: Vladimir Melnic) has also been put into circulation, such as the example above concerning this "Mother Teresa" stamp.

"Gabrovo Carnival" souvenir sheet on FDC from Bulgaria

A big thank you Borislav for this splendid FDC sent by registered mail, concerning the souvenir sheet put into circulation on November 11, 2020, dedicated to the Gabrovo Carnival.
There is no written evidence or publications indicating when the first mass carnival took place in this town of Gabrovo, located not far from the geographic center of Bulgaria and known to be the international capital of humour and satire.
The first loud and joyful procession of disguised peopl, known as the Oleliynya, is said to have taken place in the 19th century, without interruption since, with the exception of WWII and the early 1990s after the fall of communism.
Since 1998, this Gabrovo Carnival is once again one of the most important cultural events in the country, traditionally organized every year in May.

The program of this carnival includes parades, street puppets and acrobatic shows, concerts, circus shows ...
Particular attention is paid to the cat, a symbol of the town of Gabrovo, where a popular joke says that inhabitants are so frugal that they cut off the tails of their cats so the door closes faster after them and the heat doesn't escape in wintertime.
That's why the carnival mascot is a giant black cat with a cut-off tail, which is partly illustrated by the First Day postmark and this souvenir sheet (3 leva, unknown print run) designed by Pepa Markova, who signed on this envelope. To note that an imperforated version of this souvenir sheet has also been printed.
This carnival is also popular for its use of traditional Balkan songs, folk choreographies and events highlighting the particular humour of the inhabitants of Gabrovo, where there is a House of Humour and Satire ("Дом на Хумора и Сатирата"), mentioned on the cachet applied at the top left on this envelope.
This house is both a museum and an art gallery, devoted to this local humor, including cartoons, photographs, paintings or sculptures. This house also illustrates the motto of Gabrovo, capital of humour: "The world lasts because it laughs"!

"Inspectorate of Public Security 75th anniversary" joint stamp with Vatican, on cover from Italy

No less than 4 joint issues are listed in 2020 between the postal administrations of Italy and Vatican City!
Among these joint issues, a stamp put into circulation on September 28, 2020 dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the creation of the Inspectorate of Public Security in Vatican ("Ispettorato di Pubblica Sicurezza Vaticano").
The Italian version of this stamp (domestic rate "B" - € 1.10 for a shipment up to 20g, print run: 400,000) was used on this pretty letter sent on November 4, 2020 from Imola (philatelic office). Thank you very much Salvatore!
To note that the 2 postal administrations released this stamp in sheetlet of 10 self-adhesive stamps, printed by IPZS.

This stamp, designed by Tiziana Trinca, represents a patrol of this Inspectorate of Public Security in St. Peter's Square in Vatican City.
To note the presence of the coat of arms of the Italian state police at the top right on this stamp.
The Inspectorate of Public Security is a structure of the Italian state police which takes care of the protection of the Sovereign Pontiff and certain cardinals during their visits to Italian territory and the surveillance of St. Peter's Square (protection of tourists and pilgrims) in agreement with the Vatican City authorities.
The Inspectorate (currently around 150 agents) was created in 1945 by the then Minister of the Interior, on the basis of the Lateran Pacts, and is unique in the world because it is a police service of the Italian state which exercises its functions in another state.
Salvatore added a definitive stamp "Poste Italiane" (€ 0.05), issued on July 1, 2010, to reach the rate in force for an international shipment up to 20g (€ 1.15).

"Stamp Day 2020 - AM-POST stamps 75th anniversary" special postmark on cover from Germany

Since 1936, the Stamp Day ("Tag der Briefmarke") has been celebrated annually in Germany as a day dedicated to stamps and philately with numerous exhibitions and other events organized in autumn by the regional associations affiliated to the "Bund Deutscher Philatelisten" (BDPh).
On September 3, 2020, the Deutsche Post put into circulation a stamp (€ 0.80) dedicated to this Stamp Day and in particular to the 75th anniversary of the "AM-POST" ("Allied Military Post") stamps.
This stamp, designed by Marion Blomeyer and printed in sheetlet of 10 stamps, was used on this pretty letter sent on October 3, 2020 from the town of Bielefeld which organized this Stamp Day in the Land of North Rhine-Westphalia. Thank you very much Jens!
This stamp reproduces in the center the stylized "M" (for the currency "Mark") appearing on these "AM-Post" stamps, designed by the American artist William A. Roach, used from 1945 in the German zones occupied by the American and British troops ("Bizone").

As the Allied advance in Germany progressed, the stamps of the Third Reich were prohibited. Many overprinted and local stamp issues took place in the area conquered by Soviet troops.
The Western Allies prohibit these surcharges in the territories they liberate. However, some surcharges, of unofficial origin, on these stamps will take place in areas conquered by the French in particular.
The first series (9 stamps with values between 3 and 25 pfennig) was printed from August 1944 at the Washington State Printing House and were available for the first time in Aachen on March 19, 1945, a few weeks before the surrender of the German Reich. These AM-POST stamps were then introduced to all American and British areas.
A total of 20 stamps (from 1 pfennig to 1 Mark) were issued, some printed in London and Brunswick, officially valid until the end of October 1946.
To note on the special postmark above, 2 examples of these AM-POST stamps with values (in the 2 upper corners) replaced by 19/45 and 20/20 respectively to mention this 75th anniversary.
Jens completed his postage with one stamp (€ 0.30, issued on January 2, 2020) as part of the ongoing definitive "flowers" series (started in 2005), a daylily here, to reach the rate in force for a shipment in Europe (€ 1.10) up to 20g.

EUROPA 2020 (Ancient postal routes) stamp set on cover from Kosovo

Since 2006 (the country had not yet declared its independence and was under the administration of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo), stamps with the same theme as the official EUROPA series are put into circulation every year by the Post of Kosovo (Posta e Kosovës).
Variably, these stamps mention (or not) the wording of that theme or the mention EUROPA, without including however the official EUROPA logo, Kosovo being not a member of the PostEurop association, managing these EUROPA stamps.

On June 10, 2020, 2 stamps and 1 souvenir sheet were issued, dedicated to the EUROPA 2020 theme, the ancient postal routes ("Rrugët e lashta postare" in Albanian).

The numbered souvenir sheet (€ 2.00) as well as the two stamps of this series (print run: 13,000 each) are present on the nice cover above sent by registered mail on October 26, 2020 from the town of Prizren, located in the south of the country. Thank you very much Sabri!
This series is not specifically devoted to a former postal route operated in present-day Kosovo. The 2 single stamps, designed by L. Ademi, respectively illustrate mail delivery by a messenger on board a 2-wheeled cart, pulled by a horse (€ 2.00) and a more recent delivery by a postman on foot (€ 1.00).
The souvenir sheet, designed by D. Luta, depicts various means of mail transport used over time, by sailboat, train or carrier pigeon, with a map of Europe in the background.

A French protectorate since 1881, Tunisia gained independence on March 20, 1956 and became a member of the United Nations (UN) on November 12, 1956.
Tunisia is currently a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the period 2020-2021, for the 4th time in its history.
On November 12, 2016, the Tunisian Post commemorated the 60th anniversary (day to day) of the country's accession to the UN by putting into circulation a stamp on this theme included in a sheet consisting of 20 different stamps (0.5 dinars, print run: 500,000) also illustrating the theme of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The stamp dedicated to this 60th anniversary, designed by Walid Zouari, is present on this impressive envelope sent on October 19, 2020 from Tunis. Thank you very much Mourad!
To note also the presence of the First Day cancellation, including the same Tunisian flag and United Nations emblem as those featured on the stamp.

The United Nations headquarters in New York is also represented on this stamp as well as on the 2nd stamp at the bottom left on this envelope.
This stamp, such as the 3rd one at the bottom right (mention of these Sustainable Development Goals in Arabic and associated logo, a circle made up of 17 colors), is part of this same sheet of 20 stamps.
The illustration on the left on this envelope represents the mosaic of the Seasons of Ammaedara (3rd century), discovered around 1940 on the archaeological site of Haïdra (north-west of the country), donated by Tunisia to the United Nations in 1961, during an official visit of President Bourguiba in New York.

A view above of this full sheet, the other 17 stamps each illustrating one of these 17 Sustainable Development Goals constituting a United Nations universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of everyone, everywhere.
These 17 Goals were adopted by all UN member states in 2015, as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which set out a 15-year plan to achieve these goals.

"World Post Day 2020" postmark on special envelope from Moldova

The Post of Moldova has already commemorated this World Post Day on several occasions in the past, under various forms : stamp series issued in 1997 and 2002, prepaid envelope in 2006, special cancellations in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2012, 2015 ou 2018.
As a reminder, this World Post Day ("Ziua Mondială a Poştei" in Romanian) is celebrated every year on October 9th (since 1969) to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in Bern.

"National flag 35th anniversary" s/s on FDC from Curaçao

The flag of Curaçao, an island of the Lesser Antilles located off the coast of Venezuela, a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands since 2010, was officially adopted on July 2, 1984.
This flag consists of a blue field with a yellow horizontal stripe (symbolizing the sun, warmth and joy of the inhabitants) with two white stars in the upper left part, the upper and lower blue parts respectively representing the sky and the sea.
The two stars represent Curaçao (the largest island) and Klein Curaçao (the small one), the 5 points of the stars representing the five continents, where the inhabitants of the island come from.
On July 2, 2019, the Curaçao Postal Administration (Cpost International) put into circulation a nice souvenir sheet (1000c), designed by Martin den Dulk, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of this national flag.
This souvenir sheet is present on the First Day cover below.
To note this additional cachet (without indication of place or date) with the mention "Curaçao", including the flag and a map of the island.

This souvenir sheet is very interesting because it is composed of a multitude of details.
The 5-pointed star of the flag indicates the 5 continents from which all the inhabitants of Curaçao come, in the form of clouds in the sky: North and South America, Europe, Asia / Oceania and Africa.
The flag's shadow has the shape of the island of Curaçao while the flagpole is located at Brionplein, the central square of Willemstad, the capital, where the official celebration of the flag ("Dia di Bandera") takes place every year on July 2.
Two other places where these celebrations take place are also illustrated through maps in the lower part: in Barber (Bandabou, western part of the island) and Bandariba (eastern part of the island).
A refrain of the Curaçao hymn ("Himno di Kòrsou"), adopted in 1978, is finally mentioned in Papiamento, the Creole language of the Netherlands Antilles, spoken in Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao with local variants: "To our fatherland we demonstrate honour and loyalty, as to the flag the union of our nation".
