Bibliothèque nationale du Honduras - timbres spéciaux

National Library of Honduras - Special stamps

On October 10, 2012, the Post of Honduras (Honducor) has issued a series of seven special stamps devoted to a strange anniversary (132 years !) regarding the establishment of the National Library and Archives ("Biblioteca y Archivo Nacional") of the country.
The Honduran Post has issued only 250 numbered envelopes with this series and I was lucky enough to receive a copy (No. 056) below sent by registered mail on January 18th 2013 from the city of San Pedro Sula. Thank you very much Sonia :-)
To note that this letter reached me only on February 27th 2013...
The single stamp to the left (2 Lempiras, print run : 150,000) features the current President of Honduras, Porfirio Lobo Sosa, shaking hands with the Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports (Tulio Mariano Gonzales) responsible for the management of this National Library of Honduras .

The National Graphic Arts Company (ENAG) has also designed the other six se-tenant stamps (60 Lempiras, print run of the set : 1,000) referring to the personalities behind the foundation of this Library (containing more than 40,000 volumes today) and these national Archives as well as the buildings that house their respective headquarters.
This National Library has thus been created in 1880, at the initiative of doctor and priest Antonio R. Vallejo (1844-1914) who was the first director, during the office of President Marco Aurelio Soto (1846-1908) known to have led many social, economic and administrative reforms (with the assistance of Minister Ramón Rosa).
In addition to these three personalities, this series of stamps also shows the current seat of the National Library (the former mint house) and the National Archives (the former presidential residence) in Tegucigalpa.
The last stamp is dedicated to the greatest poet of Honduras, Juan Ramón Molina (1875-1908). The National Library of Honduras was named after him in 2009.

Sonia has also used a eighth stamp (15 Lempiras) on the other side of this envelope above, part of a series of three stamps issued on December 9th 2009, entitled "Peace, faith, democracy - Honduras is ours". This stamp depicts an allegory combining a dove of peace and the geographical contours of Honduras.
Finally, to note the application above (on the registered vignette) of another cancellation (not very clear) dated January 22, 2013...
