Jeanne d'Arc -Emission commune France/Vatican

Joan of Arc - France/Vatican joint stamp issue

In a message posted on this blog on May 20, 2012, I already mentioned this joint stamp issued on May 11, 2012 by the postal administrations of the Vatican City and France, dedicated to the 600th anniversary of the birth of Joan of Arc (1412-1431).
It is that stamp (€ 0.75) that appears to the right of this interesting letter mailed from the Vatican City on February 28th 2013, the last day of Pope Benedict XVI's pontificate. Thank you very much François :-)
Joan of Arc is an important figure in the history of France, who became, in the French imagination, a symbol of the struggle for independence and integrity of our country.

The Vatican Post has issued that stamp in a sheetlet of 8 stamps with a right margin including a biography (in Italian and French) of Joan of Arc, condemned to death for heresy by the English in 1431, beatified in 1909 and canonized in 1920 by Pope Benedict XV.
That stamp reproduces a colored miniature (by an unknown author) showing Joan of Arc in armor with her banner, dating from 1450 and kept in the Museum of the History of France.
The other stamp (€ 0.10) is part of a series of three stamps, issued on November 15, 2010, dedicated to apostolic journeys of pope Benedict XVI in 2009. This stamp evokes his first trip to Africa, from 17 to 23 March 2009, in Cameroon and Angola, with a view of the Saint Anthony of Lisbon's Parish in Luanda here. This stamp was issued in a sheetlet of four stamps with illustrated margins like the one above, showing a part of the crowd during a Mass in Cameroon.
To note that these two stamps above were printed in France, in La Loupe by Cartor Security Printing and in Périgueux by Phil@poste.
