100 ans d'Alfa Romeo en Italie

Alfa Romeo's Centenary in Italy

The Italian Post commemorates this year in its annual "Made in Italy" series, the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the car brand Alfa Romeo.
Two stamps were issued on March 20, 2010, separated by a central tab including the logo of the brand and the centenary's logo (stamps available in sheets of 4 rows).
I was lucky to receive the following letter, mailed from Rome on April 27, 2010, including this very interesting series.
Thank you very much Jean-Pierre :-)

Note the nice cancellation, already mentioned on this blog, issued by the Rome's Philatelic Agency, featuring one of the landmarks of the eternal city, the Castel Sant'Angelo.

This Italian manufacturer was founded in 1910 in Milan under the name ALFA ("Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili"). In 1915, a Neapolitan engineer Nicola Romeo took a large stake in the company Alfa which then changes its name to Alfa Romeo.
The series of stamps above is evoking a journey from the past to the present of the brand with on the left, the first car produced in 1910, the ALFA 24 HP Torpedo designed by Giuseppe Merosi, and the latest car on the right, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta unveiled in March 2010 at the Motor Show in Geneva. This model, replacing the Alfa 147 is inspired by the first Giulietta model built in the 1950's in a purely Italian style.
Alfa Romeo is part of the Turin's Fiat Group since 1986, which probably explains why the preview sale of this series took place both in Milan (headquarters) and Turin.
