PHILAKOREA 1984 - Bloc spécial

PHILAKOREA 1984 - Special m/s

On October 22, 1984, the Korean Post has issued three commemorative stamps dedicated to the International Philatelic Exhibition PHILAKOREA' 84, held in Seoul from October 22 to 31, 1984.
The 70 won stamp, entitled "PHILAKOREA' 84 in the world", was issued in sheets of 20 stamps as well as in a souvenir sheet of four stamps.
It is that sheet that appears on the nice letter below mailed on February 8, 2012 from Nambusan. Thank you very much Ji-Ho :-)
This stamp, designed by Lee Hea-ok, shows a lens including different flags of the world, over a stamp with the logo of this exhibition.

To note that the year 1984 marked the 100th anniversary of the creation of a modern postal administration in the country and the 100 years of the issue of the first Korean stamp.
Ji-Ho has also used two definitive stamps, including one (1000 won), issued on November 17, 2009, featuring a celadon incense burner ("Cheongjasajayugaehyangno") dating from the 12th century, with its lion-shaped lid (National Museum of Korea).
The other stamp (500 won), issued on July 11, 2003, depicts a white porcelain bottle with underglaze iron-painted rope design, a very rare specimen produced in the late 16th century during the Joseon Dynasty (National Museum of Korea).
