Série "Musée Peranakan" sur FDC de Singapour
La SingPost a déjà consacré de nombreux timbres à des objets de la culture Peranakan, en particulier une jolie série émise en 2008.
Le 20 septembre 2024, une nouvelle série (12 timbres : 6 x 1st Local, 6 x 85c) a été mise en circulation, illustrant différents objets faisant partie des collections du musée Peranakan.
Le musée Peranakan présente l'art interculturel des communautés Peranakan d'Asie du Sud-Est. Installé depuis 2008 dans l'ancienne école Tao Nan (façade de l'édifice représentée sur l'enveloppe Premier Jour), il abrite l'une des plus belles collections publiques d'objets Peranakan au monde.
Ce musée permet de découvrir le patrimoine culturel et artistique des
Peranakan (aussi appelés Baba-Nyonya ou chinois des Détroits), les
descendants des premiers immigrants chinois installés dans les colonies
britanniques des Détroits (Malacca, Penang et Singapour) aux 15ème et
16ème siècles.
Cette communauté a excellé en particulier
dans les domaines de la broderie, du travail de la perle et de la
porcelaine.
The SingPost has already dedicated many stamps in the past to objects from the Peranakan culture, including a beautiful set issued in 2008.
On September 20, 2024, a new set (12 stamps: 6 x 1st Local, 6 x 85c) was released, illustrating various objects from the Peranakan Museum collections.
The Peranakan Museum showcases the cross-cultural art of the Peranakan communities in Southeast Asia. Housed in the former Tao Nan School (the façade of the building is depicted on the First Day Cover) since 2008, it houses one of the finest public collections of Peranakan objects in the world.
The museum provides an insight into the cultural and artistic heritage of the Peranakan (also known as Baba-Nyonya or Straits Chinese), the descendants of the first Chinese immigrants to settle in the British Straits Colonies (Malacca, Penang and Singapore) in the 15th and 16th centuries.
This community excelled particularly in the fields of embroidery, beadwork and porcelain.

Le premier timbre à gauche représente un pot couvert (kamcheng) en porcelaine, datant de la fin du 19ème siècle. En général, il était utilisé pour stocker de l'eau potable, des soupes, des desserts et des cornichons pour des occasions spéciales.
Le timbre suivant montre un tiffin, un assemblage de gamelles formant une sorte de tour, avec le compartiment du bas contenant généralement le riz.
Un bol en porcelaine avec décorations montrant un qilin et un phénix, datant de 1870, est illustré sur le timbre suivant, avant une broche en forme d'étoile, connue en malais sous le nom de "kerosang bintang", avec un diamant central de taille européenne ancienne de teinte jaune pesant 31,20 carats. Autour du grand diamant, une bordure amovible de 16 diamants plus petits forme un halo, soulignant sa taille. 24 autres diamants sont sertis dans un feuillage composé de feuilles à trois pointes, conférant à la broche son aspect étoilé.
Un mouchoir et une pièce de tissu de coton teint rectangulaire "kain panjang", destinée à couvrir le bas du corps, sont représentés sur les 2 derniers timbres.

The first stamp on the left shows a porcelain covered pot (kamcheng), dating from the late 19th century. Typically, it was used to store drinking water, soups, desserts and pickles for special occasions.
The next stamp shows a tiffin carrier, a collection of bowls forming a sort of tower, with the lower compartment usually containing rice.
A porcelain bowl with decorations showing a qilin and a phoenix, dating from 1870, is shown on the next stamp, before a star-shaped brooch, known in Malay as "kerosang bintang", with a central old European cut diamond of yellow hue weighing 31.20 carats. Around the large diamond, a removable border of 16 smaller diamonds forms a halo, emphasizing its size. 24 other diamonds are set in a foliage composed of three-pointed leaves, giving the brooch its starry appearance.
A handkerchief and a rectangular piece of dyed cotton fabric "kain panjang", intended to cover the lower body, are depicted on the last two stamps.
