Timbre Mercosul 2013 au Brésil

Mercosul 2013 stamp from Brazil

The member countries of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur in Spanish, Mercosul in Portuguese), an economic and political community among several South American countries, have made a habit of issuing every year (since when exactly ?) some stamps having a common theme.
The year 2013 is devoted to integrative networks and some stamps are expected in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela (a member since 2012).
To note that Paraguay was temporarily suspended from Mercosur in 2012 following the impeachment of President Lugo...

Marcelo (thank you very much !) was kind enough to send me on June 27, 2013, the cover above from Sao Paulo. This letter is franked with the stamp "Mercosul" issued by the Brazilian Post with its FDC postmark of May 17, 2013 in Brasilia.
To illustrate this theme of integrative networks, the designer of that stamp (print run : 300,000), Botteon, has featured his conception of the evolution of telecommunications, from the telegraph to the left (which helped to shorten the distances in the 19th century) to Internet access and sending messages from a wireless network with a smartphone to the right.
The central part of that stamp shows the outline of Latin America which symbolizes the integration of all its inhabitants through telecommunications, yesterday and today.
The official logo of Mercosur (constellation of the Southern Cross) is included at the bottom right on the stamp.
