La première mention écrite concernant la ville tchèque de Nový Jičín date de 1313 lorsque Jean de Luxembourg, roi de Bohême, accorda à la ville le privilège de percevoir des péages, étant située au carrefour de plusieurs routes commerciales.
La ville aurait été fondée entre 1267 et 1278 par un autre roi de Bohême, Přemysl Otakar II, à cause de la forme carrée de sa place centrale et du quadrillage régulier des rues.
La poste tchèque a émis, le 4 septembre 2013, un joli timbre (20 CZK), créé par Eva Hašková et gravé par Jaroslav Tvrdoň, consacré au 700ème anniversaire de Nový Jičín, située dans l'est du pays (région de Moravie-Silésie).
The first written mention of the Czech town of Nový Jičín dates from 1313 when John of Luxembourg, King of Bohemia, granted the town the privilege of collecting tolls, being then located at the crossroads of several trade routes.
The city would have been founded between 1267 and 1278 by another king of Bohemia, Přemysl Otakar II, due to the square-shaped town square and the regular grid of streets.
The Czech Post has issued on September 4, 2013, a nice stamp (20 CZK), designed by Eva Hašková and engraved by Jaroslav Tvrdoň, devoted to the 700th anniversary of Nový Jičín, located in eastern country (Moravian-Silesian Region).
J'ai reçu le FDC officiel ci-dessus concernant ce timbre, avec TAD Premier Jour de Nový Jičín représentant une partie du blason de la ville, une main tenant une demi-flèche. Merci beaucoup Bret :-)
Ce timbre montre une partie de la Grand Place de cette ville, une des plus belles du pays, avec ses maisons anciennes dont une (façade blanche et jaune) avec ses balcons à chaque étage qui abritait autrefois le bureau de poste. La maison bleue attenante, dite "Maison de l'Ange Blanc", avec sa façade richement décorée, a servi de pharmacie à partir des années 1700.
On peut également voir sur ce timbre le clocher de l'église de l'Assomption de la Vierge Marie alors que la sculpture de la fontaine située sur cette même place, un couple de fermiers dansant, est représentée sur la gravure de cette enveloppe à gauche.
A noter que ce couple porte un costume traditionnel allemand, la ville ayant fait partie de la région allemande des Sudètes jusqu'à la fin de la 2ème guerre mondiale...
I've received the official FDC above about this stamp, with a FDC cancellation from Nový Jičín depicting a part of the coat of arms of the city, a hand holding a half-arrow. Thank you very much Bret :-)
This stamp shows a part of the central square of this city, one of the most beautiful in the country, with its old houses, including one (white and yellow facade) with balconies on each floor, that housed the post office in the past. The attached blue house, called "House of White Angel", with its richly decorated façade, served as a Pharmacy from the 1700s.
You can also see on this stamp the bell tower of the church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary while the sculpture of the fountain located on the same square, a farm couple dancing, is shown on the engraving of this FDC to the left.
To note that this couple is dressed with in a typical German costume, the city having been part of the German Sudetenland until the end of the 2nd World War...
