30 years of the boycott of the 1984 Olympics...

In response to the U.S. boycott of the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 and fearing for its safety, the USSR decided to boycott the games organized in Los Angeles in 1984.
Fifteen countries of the Communist bloc, including Czechoslovakia, did the same, not allowing a golden generation to win for sure many olympic medals...
Among these most famous Czechoslovak athletes, Jarmila Kratochvílová, champion of 400 meters and 800 meters (she still holds today the world record beaten in 1983), the discus thrower Imrich Bugár or the shot putter Helena Fibingerová.
These three athletes have all been world champion at the 1st IAAF World Championships held in Helsinki, one year before these games in Los Angeles...

On May 12, 2014, the Czech Olympic Committee organized in Prague a gathering of these "sacrificed" athletes following the boycott of the games in Los Angeles, 30 years earlier.
On this occasion, a special pictural cancellation was issued by the post office N° 6 of Prague, including the portrait of Jarmila Kratochvílová as well as the mentions "Los Angeles 1984-2014" and "30 let od perzekuce na generaci" that could be translated as "30 years of a persecuted generation" even if the term "persecuted" seems to be exaggerated...
It is that cancellation which was applied to this interesting letter above. Thank you very much Slavek :-)
Slavek used the stamp (20 Kč) issued on June 20, 2012 by the Czech Post on the occasion of the Olympic Games in London.
I had mentioned this stamp at the time on this blog, issued in an interesting souvenir sheet (3 stamps + 2 different labels), combining a bronze statue of the 5th century BC with a more contemporary's allegory of a javelin thrower as well as the official logo of these games in London.
