20 years of the Channel Tunnel in France

On May 5, 1994, the French Post and the Royal Mail issued a joint series consisting of four stamps on the occasion of the inauguration of one of the largest structures built in the 20th century, the Channel Tunnel.
Inaugurated on May 6, 1994 by the French President François Mitterrand and Queen Elizabeth II, this tunnel (51 km long with 38 km of underwater section) somehow put an end to the British insularity in bringing this country closer from major cities of Lille, Paris, Brussels or Amsterdam.
20 years later, the French Post is the only one to issue a special stamp dedicated to this tunnel under the name "fixed link under the English Channel" ("lien fixe sous la Manche")...

It is that stamp (€ 0.66, print run : 1,200,000), designed by Stéphane Humbert-Basset and engraved by Pierre Albuisson, that appears on the first day cover from Paris (dated May 6, 2014) above. Thank you very much Joël :-)
That stamp, designed from a photograph of the tunnel operator Eurotunnel, is rather ugly in my opinion...
It shows the entrance to the tunnel in Coquelles (French side) with the English Channel and cliffs in the background (shuttles and Eurostar TGV are emerging in Folkestone, UK).
Stéphane Humbert-Basset, who also designed the FDC postmark, was kind enough to write a dedication to my name on this envelope at the top left !
To note that this tunnel, built 100 meters under sea level, is still today the longest underwater tunnel in the world.
