Comme chaque année, le programme philatélique de la poste tchèque se termine par une splendide série intitulée "Oeuvres d'art sur des timbres" !
Le 27 novembre 2013, 3 nouveaux timbres gravés ont ainsi été émis, dont deux (25 Kč et 35 Kč) ont été utilisés sur cette très belle lettre ci-dessous envoyée en recommandé le 1er jour d'émission de Prague. Merci beaucoup Bret :-)
Bret a également utilisé un timbre (10 Kč), avec sa vignette attenante représentant le logo de la poste tchèque, émis le 3 septembre 2008, reproduisant une illustration de Josef Paleček pour un livre pour enfants de Jaroslav Seifert (Prix Nobel de littérature en 1984).
As it's the case every year, the philatelic program of the Czech Post ends with a beautiful series entitled "Works of art on postage stamps" !
On November 27, 2013, three new engraved stamps have been issued, including two (25 Kč and 35 Kč) used on this beautiful cover below sent by registered mail from Prague on the first day of issue. Thank you very much Bret :-)
Bret also used a stamp (10 Kč), with its attached coupon depicting the logo of the Czech Post, issued on September 3, 2008, reproducing an illustration by Josef Paleček for a children's book of Jaroslav Seifert (Nobel Prize for Literature in 1984).
J'ai déjà évoqué sur ce blog l'autre timbre (10 Kč) en haut à droite, faisant partie d'un magnifique bloc-feuillet de 4 timbres, émis le 1er septembre 2010, consacré à la réserve de la biosphère de la basse vallée de la Morava, située dans le sud-est du pays, la 2ème plus grande zone de ce type en Europe.
Ce timbre, représentant un papillon machaon (Papilio machaon), un tichodrome échelette (Tichodroma muraria) et un oeil du Christ (Aster amellus), avait été élu le plus timbre émis par la poste tchèque en 2010 !
I've already mentioned on this blog the other stamp (10 Kč) in the top right, being part of a beautiful souvenir sheet of 4 stamps, issued on September 1, 2010, devoted to the Biosphere Reserve of the Lower valley of the Morava, located in the southeast of the country, the second largest area of its kind in Europe.
That stamp, depicting a swallowtail butterfly (Papilio machaon), a wallcreeper (Tichodroma muraria) and an Aster amellus, was awarded "the most beautiful stamp" issued by the Czech Post in 2010 !
Mais revenons à cette série "Arts" avec le 1er timbre (35 Kč) figurant sur le FDC officiel ci-dessus, reproduisant une oeuvre du peintre et graveur tchèque Max Švabinský (1873-1962) intitulée "Portrait rond" (1897, galerie nationale de Prague).
Le TAD Premier Jour (sa signature) a été émis dans la ville de Kroměříž, la ville natale de Švabinský, un des artistes les plus importants du 20ème siècle en Tchécoslovaquie.
Avec d'autres artistes comme Jan Preisler, Antonín Slavíček ou Miloš Jiránek, il a participé à la diffusion de l'art moderne tchécoslovaque en Europe.
Švabinský, dont un autoportrait (1905) figure sur ce FDC à gauche, a également conçu des timbres (dont un portrait du peintre Mucha en 1960) et des billets de banque tchécoslovaques...
But let's speak now about this "Art" series with the first stamp (35 Kč) on the official FDC above, reproducing a work by Czech painter and engraver Max Švabinský (1873-1962) entitled "Round Portrait" (1897, National Gallery of Prague).
The FDC cancellation (Švabinský's signature) was released in Kroměříž, the hometown of Švábinský, one of the most important artists of the 20th century in Czechoslovakia.
With some other artists such as Jan Preisler, Antonín Slavíček or Miloš Jiránek, he participated in the dissemination of Czechoslovak modern art in Europe.
Švabinský, whose self-portrait (1905) is reproduced on the left on this FDC, has also designed several Czechoslovak postage stamps (including a portrait of the painter Mucha in 1960) and banknotes...
Concernant ce même timbre (gravure : Václav Fajt), Bret m'a également envoyé ce feuillet commémoratif numéroté ci-dessus, avec un autre TAD spécial émis le 1er jour d'émission à Kroměříž.
Ce cachet, mentionnant les 140 ans de sa naissance, représente un portrait de Max Švabinský et un oiseau sans doute en référence à ses modèles qu'il situe souvent dans des paysages idéaux et paradisiaques, les entourant de la flore et de la faune exotiques...
A noter qu'une autre oeuvre de Švabinský, "Poor Countryside" (1900), avait déjà été reproduite dans la série "Arts" émise en 2003.
About that same stamp (engraving : Václav Fajt), Bret has also sent me this numbered commemorative sheet above, with another special postmark issued on the first day in Kroměříž.
This postmark, indicating the 140 years of his birth, depicts a portrait of Max Švabinský and a bird probably referring to his models he was often painting in ideal and idyllic landscapes, surrounding by exotic flora and fauna...
To note that another painting by Švábinský, "Poor Countryside" (1900) had already been reproduced in the "Art" series issued in 2003.
L'autre timbre (25 Kč, gravure : Martin Srb), sur le FDC de Prague ci-dessus, est consacré à l'architecte et graveur italien Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778), dit Le Piranèse, à travers une oeuvre intitulée "Une vue d'églises romaines" (1762, galerie nationale de Prague).
Le Piranèse est célèbre pour ses nombreuses planches gravées représentant des paysages antiques romains et en particulier les 3 éditions des "Carceri d'Invenzione" ("Prisons imaginaires"), débutées en 1745.
The other stamp (25 Kč, engraving by Martin Srb), on the FDC of Prague above, is devoted to the Italian architect and engraver Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778), through a work entitled "A view of Roman churches" (1762, National Gallery in Prague).
Piranesi is famous for his many engravings depicting ancient Roman landscapes and in particular the three editions of the "Carceri d'Invenzione" ("Imaginary Prisons"), started in 1745.
