Jour J pour l'ouverture des 30ème jeux olympiques d'été de Londres !
De nombreuses administrations postales ont déjà émis des timbres à ce sujet. C'est le cas de la poste slovaque avec cette intéressante série de 2 timbres se-tenant, émise le 28 juin 2012, figurant sur la lettre ci-dessous postée le 2 juillet 2012 de Trnava.

Ces 2 timbres (0,90€ chacun, tirage : 200000) ont été émis dans une même feuille de 50 timbres (25 paires).
Pour être plus précis, ces 2 timbres évoquent respectivement les jeux olympiques et les jeux paralympiques de Londres (organisés du 29 août au 9 septembre).

Many postal administrations have already issued stamps about this topic. This is the case of the Slovak Post with this interesting set of two se-tenant stamps, issued on June 28, 2012, appearing on the cover below mailed on July 2, 2012 from Trnava.

These two stamps (€ 0.90 each, print run : 200,000) have been issued in a single sheet of 50 stamps (25 pairs).
To be more precise, these two stamps evoke respectively the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games in London (organized from August 29th to September 9th).
Comme sur le timbre émis par la poste française, aucune mention de ces jeux olympiques de Londres (ni anneaux, ni logo) sur le timbre ci-dessus à gauche ! Même pas une évocation de la capitale britannique (comme Big Ben sur le timbre français)...
Comme la poste française, la poste slovaque n'a semble-t-il pas souhaité payer des droits au CIO (proportionnels au nombre de timbres émis) pour être autorisée à faire figurer l'emblème olympique sur ce timbre.
Ce timbre évoque les jeux olympiques antiques avec cette allégorie de la victoire (déesse ailée Niké dans la mythologie grecque) et une tête de guerrier inspirée des célèbres Bronzes de Riace (5ème siècle avant JC) conservées au musée national de Reggio di Calabre (Italie).
L'équipe olympique slovaque sera composée de 46 athlètes aux jeux de Londres, engagés dans 11 sports avec à nouveau de grandes chances de médailles en canoë-kayak (slalom). Depuis sa 1ère participation aux jeux d'Atlanta en 1996, la Slovaquie a en effet remporté toutes ses médailles d'or (7) dans cette discipline !
L'emblème du comité paralympique slovaque figure par contre bien sur l'autre timbre à droite avec une intéressante mise en parallèle d'un athlète en fauteuil avec la grande roue ("The London Eye") de Londres.
As for the stamp issued by the French Post, not any mention of these Olympic Games in London (rings or logo) on the stamp above to the left ! Not even a mention of the British capital (like Big Ben on the French stamp)...
As for the French Post, the Slovak Post has apparently not wished to pay fees to the IOC (proportional to the number of stamps issued) to be allowed to include the Olympic emblem on that stamp.
This stamp evokes the ancient Olympic Games with this allegory of Victory (with the winged goddess Nike in the Greek mythology) and a warrior's head inspired by the famous Riace Bronzes (5th century BC) kept at the National Museum of Reggio di Calabria, Italy.
The Slovakian Olympic team will consist of 46 athletes at these Games in London, engaged in 11 sports with again a great chance of medals in canoeing (slalom). Since its first participation in the Atlanta Games in 1996, Slovakia has indeed won all its gold medals (7) in this sport !
On the other side, the emblem of the Paralympic Committee of Slovakia is well featured on the other stamp to the right with an interesting parallel connection of an athlete in a wheelchair with the Ferris wheel ("The London Eye") of London.
