"Hornbills" stamp set on FDCs from Malaysia

Série "Calaos" sur FDCs de Malaisie

Le 10 novembre 2024, le ministère malaisien des ressources naturelles et de la durabilité environnementale a célébré la première journée nationale du calao, soulignant son engagement à préserver cette espèce d'oiseau et le patrimoine aviaire unique du pays plus généralement.
Cette journée vise aussi à soutenir la politique nationale malaisienne sur la diversité biologique, ayant pour objectif de faire du pays une nation "vivant en harmonie avec la nature d'ici 2050".
Parmi les 61 espèces de calaos (famille des bucérotidés) vivant sur Terre (en Afrique subsaharienne et en Asie du Sud-Est), 10 ont été recensées en Malaisie, sur la péninsule malaise et sur l'île de Bornéo, dans les états de Sarawak et Sabah, toutes ayant un statut "Vulnérable" ou "En danger" d'après l'UICN.
Ce 10 novembre 2024, la poste malaisienne a mis en circulation une jolie série (3 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet) illustrant 4 de ces espèces de calaos ("Burung Enggang" en malais) vivant dans le pays.
On November 10, 2024, the Malaysian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability celebrated the first National Hornbill Day, highlighting its commitment to preserving this bird species and the country's unique avian heritage more generally.
This day also aims to support Malaysia's National Biodiversity Policy, which aims to make the country a nation "living in harmony with nature by 2050".
Among the 61 species of hornbills (family Bucerotidae) living on Earth (in sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia), 10 have been recorded in Malaysia, Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo, in the states of Sarawak and Sabah, all of which have a "Vulnerable" or "Endangered" status according to the IUCN.
On November 10, 2024, the Malaysian Post put into circulation a nice series (3 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet) illustrating four of these species of hornbills ("Burung Enggang" in Malay) living in the country.

Le bloc-feuillet (5 RM), avec sa découpe spéciale à gauche, est consacré au calao rhinocéros (Buceros rhinoceros), un des très grands calaos, aux larges ailes (envergure d'environ 1,5 mètres) et au gigantesque bec courbé orangé surmonté d'un casque volumineux parfois appelé corne.
Le calao rhinocéros habite surtout la canopée des forêts tropicales denses dans les îles de Sumatra, Java et Bornéo ainsi qu'en Malaisie et dans le sud de la Thaïlande.
Le calao rhinocéros est l'oiseau national de l'état de Sarawak et souvent considéré comme l'oiseau national de la Malaisie.
Parmi les Dayak de l'île de Bornéo, les Ibans de l'état de Sarawak réalisent des sculptures en bois du calao rhinocéros appelées "kenyalang" et utilisées lors de leurs principales cérémonies sacrées. 
Une autre espèce de calao, le calao coiffé (Berenicornis comatus), est représenté sur l'illustration de l'enveloppe.

The souvenir sheet (5 RM), with its special cut on the left, is dedicated to the Rhinoceros hornbill (Buceros rhinoceros), one of the very large hornbills, with broad wings (wingspan of about 1.5 meters) and a gigantic curved orange beak topped with a voluminous casque sometimes called a horn.
The Rhinoceros hornbill mainly inhabits the canopy of dense tropical forests in the islands of Sumatra, Java and Borneo as well as in Malaysia and southern Thailand.
The Rhinoceros hornbill is the national bird of the state of Sarawak and often considered the national bird of Malaysia.
Among the Dayak of the island of Borneo, the Ibans of the state of Sarawak make wooden sculptures of the rhinoceros hornbill called "kenyalang" and used during their main sacred ceremonies.
Another species of hornbill, the White-crowned hornbilll (Berenicornis comatus), is depicted on the envelope illustration.

Un calao à casque ondulé (Rhyticeros undulatus) est représenté sur le 1er timbre (50 sen) de cette série ci-dessus. Il s'agit d'un mâle ici, avec sa tête blanche et son cou jaune. Cette espèce est présente dans le nord-est de l'Inde et en Asie du Sud-Est.
Le timbre suivant (60 sen) montre un calao bicorne (Buceros bicornis), vivant en Malaisie uniquement dans le nord de la péninsule malaise. Le braconnage, la chasse et la destruction de son habitat sont les principaux facteurs qui menacent cette espèce.
Le dernier timbre (90 sen) est consacré au calao à casque rond (Rhinoplax vigil), probablement l'espèce de calao la plus rare en Malaisie, vivant dans la péninsule et sur l'île de Bornéo.
Cette espèce est en danger critique d'extinction car elle est chassé pour son casque, une protubérance dure sur son bec appelée "ivoire rouge", qui est sculptée dans des bijoux et des ornements prisés des collectionneurs chinois en particulier. 
A Wreathed hornbill (Rhyticeros undulatus) is depicted on the first stamp (50 sen) of this series above. This is a male here, with a white head and yellow neck. This species is found in northeastern India and Southeast Asia.
The next stamp (60 sen) shows a Great hornbill (Buceros bicornis), found in Malaysia only in the north of the Malay Peninsula. Poaching, hunting and habitat destruction are the main factors threatening this species.
The last stamp (90 sen) is dedicated to the Helmeted hornbill (Rhinoplax vigil), probably the rarest hornbill species in Malaysia, found in the peninsula and on the island of Borneo.
This species is critically endangered because it is hunted for its casque, a hard protuberance on its beak called "red ivory," which is carved into jewelry and ornaments prized by Chinese collectors in particular. 

"Jan Ungrád's 80th birthday" postmark on cover from Czech Republic

TAD "80ème anniversaire de Jan Ungrád" sur lettre de République tchèque

A l'occasion du 80ème anniversaire de la naissance de l'artiste, scénariste et réalisateur de films d'animation Jan Ungrád, la poste tchèque a mis en circulation, le 11 octobre 2024, un TAD spécial pour lui rendre hommage.
Ce TAD (conception : Jan Kavan), représentant un clap de cinéma et différents outils d'artistes (pinceau, crayon, souris d'ordinateur), a été appliqué par le bureau principal de Prague 1 sur la jolie lettre ci-dessous. Merci beaucoup Slavek !
Jan Ungrád a également conçu des TADs et timbres pour la poste tchèque, 16 timbres entre 2006 et 2021 et en particulier 2 timbres (gravés par Jaroslav Tvrdoň) émis le 20 octobre 2010 dans une série "Monuments techniques" consacrée à des ponts.
Slavek a eu la bonne idée d'utiliser ces 2 timbres (en 2 exemplaires chacun) sur cette lettre, représentant respectivement le pont Mariánský à Ústí nad Labem (10 CZK) et le pont de pierre de Písek (12 CZK). 
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the birth of the artist, screenwriter and director of animated films Jan Ungrád, the Czech Post has put into circulation, on October 11, 2024, a special postmark to pay tribute to him.
This postmark (design: Jan Kavan), representing a film clapperboard and various artists' tools (brush, pencil, computer mouse), was applied by the main post office of Prague 1 on the beautiful cover below. Thank you very much Slavek!
Jan Ungrád also designed postmarks and stamps for the Czech Post, 16 stamps between 2006 and 2021 and in particular two stamps (engraved by Jaroslav Tvrdoň) issued on October 20, 2010 in a series "Technical Monuments" dedicated to bridges.
Slavek had the good idea to use these two stamps (in two copies each) on this cover, representing respectively the Mariánský bridge in Ústí nad Labem (10 CZK) and the stone bridge in Písek (12 CZK).

Le pont de pierre de Písek (également connu sous le nom de "pont du Cerf") est le plus ancien pont de pierre encore debout en Bohême. Le pont, qui enjambe la rivière Otava, a une structure de 6,5 mètres de large, légèrement bombée vers le haut de la rivière, et se compose de six arches de 111 mètres de long. La date exacte de sa construction est inconnue, mais le style est gothique. Il a été mentionné pour la première fois par écrit en 1348 lorsque Charles IV ordonna aux conseillers municipaux d'utiliser les amendes collectées dans la ville pour l'entretien du pont. Le pont est orné de copies de sculptures originales, principalement baroques du 18ème siècle.
Le pont à haubans Mariánský à Ústí nad Labem, conçu par le célèbre cabinet d'architecture Roman Koucký, est l'un des projets les plus caractéristiques et les plus controversés construits en République tchèque après novembre 1989. Le pont de 70 m de haut a été construit entre 1993 et ​​1998 et est devenu le nouveau point culminant de la ville. La hauteur n'est pas la seule caractéristique qui attire l'attention : le système de câbles en acier qui suspend le pont de 170 m de long est tout aussi provocant. The Stone Bridge in Písek (also known as the "Stag Bridge") is the oldest stone bridge still standing in Bohemia. The bridge, which spans the Otava River, has a 6.5-metre-wide structure, slightly curved towards the top of the river, and consists of six 111-metre-long arches. The exact date of its construction is unknown, but the style is Gothic. It was first mentioned in writing in 1348 when Charles IV ordered the town councillors to use fines collected in the town for maintenance of the bridge. The bridge is decorated with copies of original sculptures, mainly from the 18th century (Baroque style).
The Mariánský cable-stayed bridge in Ústí nad Labem, designed by the renowned architecture studio Roman Koucký, is one of the most characteristic and controversial projects built in Czech Republic after November 1989. The 70 m high bridge was built between 1993 and 1998 and became the new highlight of the city. The height is not the only feature that attracts attention: the system of steel cables that suspends the 170 m long bridge is equally provocative. The architect designed the number of cables, the height and the shape of the pylon not only based on statics, but also on his artistic visions. For example, the height of the pylon was to counterbalance the Mary Rock on the other side of the river. 

"EMS Cooperative" joint stamp and "100 years of diplomatic relations with Poland" set on cover from Peru

Timbres "Coopérative EMS" et "100 ans de relations diplomatiques avec la Pologne" sur lettre du Pérou

La Coopérative EMS (Express Mail Service), un organe de l'Union postale universelle (UPU) créé en 1999 à Beijing, regroupe aujourd'hui plus de 180 opérateurs postaux dans le monde, qui ont accepté de travailler ensemble pour fournir le produit postal transfrontalier EMS le plus rapide.
Le 10 septembre 2019, plusieurs administrations postales ont mis en circulation un timbre commun (conçu par l'UPU) consacré au 20ème anniversaire (jour pour jour) de la création de cette Coopérative EMS.
Ce timbre commun représente une carte du monde avec le logo EMS dans la partie supérieure et la mention "Priorité à l'excellence 1999-2019 - Coopérative EMS de l'UPU" dans la langue du pays, précédée par le drapeau de l'UPU et celui du pays émetteur.
La version péruvienne de ce timbre commun (2,60 PEN, tirage : 5000), émis le 3 février 2020, figure en haut à gauche sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 20 décembre 2024 depuis la ville de Chimbote. Merci beaucoup César ! 
The EMS (Express Mail Service) Cooperative, an organ of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) created in 1999 in Beijing, consists of over 180 postal operators who have agreed to work together to provide the fastest EMS cross-border postal product. 
On September 10, 2019, several postal administrations issued a joint stamp (designed by the UPU) devoted to the 20th anniversary (to the day) of the creation of this EMS Cooperative. 
This joint stamp features a world map with the EMS logo at the top and the mention "Delivering Excellence 1999-2019 - UPU EMS Cooperative" in the language of the country, preceded by the UPU flag and the flag of the issuing country.
The Peruvian version of this joint stamp (2.60 PEN, print run: 5,000), issued on February 3, 2020, was used at the top left on the cover below sent on December 20, 2024 from the city of Chimbote. Thank you very much Cesar!

Le logo officiel de ce 100ème anniversaire est reproduit sur ces 2 timbres illustrant des sites inscrits par l'UNESCO sur la liste du Patrimoine Mondial :  le célèbre sanctuaire historique de Machu Picchu, construit par les Incas au 15ème siècle, à 2430 m d'altitude, dans un site montagneux des Andes d'une extraordinaire beauté, et la cathédrale et le château royal du Wawel, château des rois de Pologne construit entre le 11ème et le 17ème siècle sur la colline du Wawel, à Cracovie, ancienne capitale de la Pologne.
The two se-tenant stamps (2.60 PEN, print run: 5,000, design: Marco Antonio Quispe Yalli), issued on December 14, 2023, commemorate the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Peru and Poland.
The official logo of this 100th anniversary is reproduced on these two stamps illustrating sites inscribed by UNESCO on the World Heritage list: the famous historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu, built by the Incas in the 15th century, at an altitude of 2,430 m, in a mountainous site of the Andes of extraordinary beauty, and the cathedral and the royal castle of Wawel, castle of the kings of Poland built between the 11th and 17th centuries on Wawel Hill, in Krakow, former capital of Poland.

"80th anniversary of the liberation of Strasbourg" personalized stamp on cover from France

En mars 1941 à Koufra dans le désert libyen, lors d'une bataille contre les troupes italiennes, le général Leclerc prête serment avec ses hommes : "Jurez de ne déposer les armes que lorsque nos couleurs, nos belles couleurs, flotteront sur la cathédrale de Strasbourg".
Ce serment intervient alors que l'Allemagne Nazie exerce une domination totale sur l'Europe...
Le 23 novembre 1944, à 7h15, le général Leclerc (âgé alors de 42 ans) donne l'assaut avec sa 2ème Division Blindée sur la capitale alsacienne.
Cette libération fulgurante restera comme l'un des exploits les plus remarquables, et politiquement l'un des plus importants, de la campagne d'Alsace et de la campagne de France.
In March 1941 in Kufra, in the Libyan desert, during a battle against Italian troops, General Leclerc took the oath with his men : "Swear not to disarm until our colors, our beautiful colors, fly over the Strasbourg Cathedral". 
This oath was proclaimed while Nazi Germany had a total domination over Europe... 
On November 23, 1944, at 7.15 am, General Leclerc (then aged 42) storms with his 2nd Armored Division on the Alsatian capital. 
This rapid liberation will remain as one of the most remarkable feats, and politically one of the most important, of the Alsace campaign and the France campaign during this WWII.

A l'occasion du 80ème anniversaire de la libération de Strasbourg, l'Association Philatélique "UNION 1877" de Strasbourg organisait le 23 novembre 2024 un bureau temporaire avec TAD illustré, dans le bureau postal de Strasbourg Cathédrale.
Ce TAD a été appliqué sur la jolie lettre ci-dessus, affranchie avec le timbre personnalisé (tarif "Lettre Verte 20g", prix de vente : 2€ à l'unité, tirage inconnu) mis en circulation à cette occasion. Merci beaucoup Olivier !
Une alsacienne en costume traditionnel célèbre cette libération sur le TAD et le timbre, représentant également la cathédrale avec le drapeau français hissé à son sommet et le général Leclerc à bord d'un véhicule militaire.
Malheureusement, une double oblitération inutile a été appliquée sur cette lettre le 25 novembre 2024, lors de son transit par la PIC (Plateforme Industrielle du Courrier) de Pagny-lès-Goin (37580A)... 
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Strasbourg, the Philatelic Association "UNION 1877" of Strasbourg organized on November 23, 2024 a temporary post office with illustrated cancellation, in the post office of Strasbourg Cathedral.
This postmark was applied to the pretty cover above, franked with the personalized stamp ("Green Letter 20g" rate, sale price: €2.00 per unit, unknown print run) put into circulation on this occasion. Thank you very much Olivier!
An Alsatian woman in traditional costume celebrates this liberation on the cancellation and the stamp, also representing the cathedral with the French flag hoisted at its summit and General Leclerc aboard a military vehicle.
Unfortunately, a useless mechanical cancellation was applied to this envelope on November 25, 2024, during its transit through the PIC (Industrial Mail Platform) of Pagny-lès-Goin (37580A)...

"150 years of the UPU 1874-2024" stamp on cover from Luxembourg

En 2024, l'Union Postale Universelle (UPU) célèbrait son 150ème anniversaire. Le 9 octobre 1874, 22 pays (dont le Luxembourg) se sont réunis pour signer le Traité de Berne, créant ainsi l'Union générale des postes, qui deviendra ensuite l'Union Postale Universelle (à partir de 1878).
150 ans plus tard, l'UPU unit à présent les réseaux postaux de 192 pays membres. Elle a ainsi concrétisé la vision de ses fondateurs, qui consistait à établir un territoire postal unique pour servir toutes les populations, où qu'elles se trouvent.
Avec le thème de ce 150ème anniversaire, "150 ans d'engagement pour la communication et le développement des peuples à travers le monde", l'UPU célèbre cette réalisation et renforce son engagement à servir les populations pour les années et siècles à venir.
Tout au long de cette année 2024, l'UPU a organisé une série d'événements et des campagnes visant à rendre hommage à la richesse de son passé, à la pertinence de son présent et aux promesses de son avenir, en utilisant en particulier le hashtag #UPU150 sur les réseaux sociaux.
In 2024, the Universal Postal Union (UPU) celebrated its 150th anniversary. On October 9, 1874, 22 countries (including Luxembourg) gathered to sign the Treaty of Bern, creating the General Postal Union, which would later become known as the Universal Postal Union (from 1878).
150 years later, the UPU now unites the postal networks of 192 member countries, having realized its founders' vision of establishing a single postal territory to serve people everywhere.
The UPU's theme for its 150th year, "150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations", recognizes this accomplishment, and reinforces its commitment to serve peoples for the decades and centuries to come.
Throughout 2024, the UPU organized a series of events and campaigns in celebration of its rich past, dedicated present and promising future, in particular using the hashtag #UPU150 on social media.

The UPU, a specialized agency of the United Nations (since 1947) headquartered in Bern, Switzerland, is the second oldest international organization after the International Telecommunications Union, and constitutes the main forum for cooperation between global postal sector players.
On October 10, 2024, the Luxembourg Post put into circulation a stamp dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the UPU.
This stamp ("World 50g" rate - currently €1.75, print run: 50,000), printed by Bpost (Belgium) in a sheetlet of 10 stamps, was used on the cover above sent on October 26, 2024 from the capital, Luxembourg. Thank you very much Jens!

"25 years of the Venice Foundation for Research on Peace" joint stamp with Vatican, on FDC from Italy

Timbre "25 ans de la Fondation Venise pour la recherche sur la Paix", commun avec le Vatican, sur FDC d'Italie

La Fondation Venise pour la Recherche sur la Paix est un centre de recherche, créé en 1999, dédié à l'étude des éléments qui, à partir du contexte socio-politique, favorisent les processus de paix ainsi que la défense et la promotion des droits de l'individu et des peuples. 
A l'occasion du 25ème anniversaire de la création de cette Fondation ("Fondazione Venezia per la Ricerca sulla Pace" en italien), les administrations postales d'Italie et de la Cité du Vatican ont mis en circulation, le 14 novembre 2024, un timbre commun.
La version italienne de ce timbre (tarif "B" 20g domestique - 1,25€, tirage : 250000), imprimé en feuille de 50 timbres, a été utilisée en 2 exemplaires sur la lettre ci-dessous avec TAD Premier Jour de Rome reproduisant le logo de cette Fondation. 
The Venice Foundation for Research on Peace is a research center, created in 1999, dedicated to the study of the elements that, from the socio-political context, favor peace processes as well as the defense and promotion of the rights of the individual and peoples.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the creation of this Foundation ("Fondazione Venezia per la Ricerca sulla Pace" in Italian), the postal administrations of Italy and Vatican City put into circulation, on November 14, 2024, a joint stamp.
The Italian version of this stamp ("B" 20g domestic rate - €1.25, print run: 250,000), printed in a sheet of 50 stamps, was used in two copies on the cover below with First Day cancellation from Rome reproducing the logo of this Foundation.

Ce logo, également présent sur le timbre, représente le profil d'une colombe et rappelle en même temps la forme de la proue de la gondole vénitienne avec ce qu'on appelle la "proue en fer", composée de sept dents qui symbolisent le chapeau du Doge et les quartiers en lesquels la ville de Venise est divisée. 
Dans le fond, le timbre reproduit une ancienne carte appelée "Pianta prospettica della città di Venezia e delle lagune", publiée dans un volume de 1534 de Benedetto Bordone intitulé "Isolario", qui est conservé à la bibliothèque du Musée Correr de Venise.
La priorité que l'Église reconnaît à la recherche de la paix est évidente dans les efforts déployés pour promouvoir le dialogue, pour former les consciences, et elle est perceptible dans les appels constants du Pape François à mettre fin à tous les conflits qui dévastent la Terre.
This logo, also present on the stamp, represents the profile of a dove and at the same time recalls the shape of the prow of the Venetian gondola with the so-called "iron prow", composed of seven teeth that symbolize the Doge's hat and the districts into which the city of Venice is divided.
In the background, the stamp reproduces an ancient map, "Pianta prospettica della città di Venezia e delle lagune", that appeared in a 1534 book by Benedetto Bordone entitled "Isolario", currently stored in the Biblioteca del Museo Correr in Venice.
The Church's recognition of the priority of research on peace is evident in her efforts to promote dialogue and the formation of consciences, and in Pope Francis' continuous appeals for an end to the wars that are devastating the World.

En 2024, l'Union Postale Universelle (UPU) célébrait son 150ème anniversaire. Le 9 octobre 1874, 22 pays se sont réunis pour signer le Traité de Berne, créant ainsi l'Union générale des postes, qui deviendra ensuite l'Union Postale Universelle (à partir de 1878).

"Italian Red Cross 160th anniversary" joint stamp with Italy, San Marino and SMOM, on cover from Vatican

Timbre "160 ans de la Croix-Rouge italienne", commun avec l'Italie, Saint-Marin et l'OSMM, sur lettre du Vatican

Le 15 juin 2024, les administrations postales d'Italie, Saint-Marin, Cité du Vatican et Ordre Souverain Militaire de Malte (OSMM) ont mis en circulation un timbre commun consacré au 160ème anniversaire de la fondation de la Croix-Rouge italienne, qui eu lieu à Milan le 15 juin 1864.
Ce timbre a été imprimé dans un feuillet composé de 4 timbres, avec marge illustrant les torches allumées lors de la procession annuelle aux flambeaux entre Solferino et Castiglione delle Stiviere, les lieux de la bataille du même nom en 1859 et du sauvetage improvisé ultérieur par la population au cours duquel Henri Dunant a été inspiré pour créer un mouvement humanitaire qui prendra le nom de "Croix-Rouge".
Le timbre a été conçu à partir d'une photographie de Danilo Traverso montrant les volontaires de la Croix-Rouge italienne engagés dans le sauvetage des victimes lors de l'effondrement dramatique du Ponte Morandi survenu à Gênes le 14 août 2018.
On June 15, 2024, the postal administrations of Italy, San Marino, Vatican City and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM) put into circulation a joint stamp dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the founding of the Italian Red Cross, which took place in Milan on June 15, 1864.
This stamp was printed in a sheetlet composed of 4 stamps, with a margin illustrating the torches lit during the annual torchlight procession between Solferino and Castiglione delle Stiviere, the sites of the battle of the same name in 1859 and the subsequent improvised rescue by the population during which Henri Dunant was inspired to create a humanitarian movement that would take the name of "Red Cross".
The stamp was designed from a photograph by Danilo Traverso showing the volunteers of the Italian Red Cross engaged in the rescue of victims during the dramatic collapse of the Ponte Morandi in Genoa on August 14, 2018.

Suite à cet événement tragique, le Président de la République italienne a décerné en 2024 la Médaille d'Or du Mérite Civil au drapeau de la Croix-Rouge italienne en Ligurie.
La version vaticane de ce timbre (1,25€, tirage : 220000), imprimé en France par Cartor, a été utilisée sur la lettre ci-dessus envoyée le 12 novembre 2024. Merci beaucoup Salvatore !

Following this tragic event, the President of the Italian Republic awarded in 2024 the Gold Medal of Civil Merit to the flag of the Italian Red Cross in Liguria.

This stamp was designed by David Dovlatyan based on the official logo of this 150th anniversary created by the UPU (by Sonja Denovski) and includes the associated slogan and the flag of Armenia, a member of the UPU since September 14, 1992.
The other stamp above (70 AMD), issued on February 6, 2019, is part of the 13th definitive series, depicting different seals of the Kingdom of Ararat (8th century BC). This stamp shows a 3 cm high chalcedony seal, discovered in the village of Noratus (Gegharkunik region). The cylindrical side is engraved with an image of a sacred tree of life and a winged creature.  

G7 Summit and 30th anniversary of the Maastricht Treaty stamps on cover from Italy

Sommet du G7 et 30 ans du traité de Maastricht sur lettre d'Italie

Après le Japon en 2023 et avant le Canada en 2025 (et la France en 2026), l'Italie assurait en 2024 la présidence tournante du G7 (Groupe des sept), un groupe de discussion et de partenariat économique créé en 1975, qui réunit chaque année les chefs d'état et de gouvernement des 7 pays parmi les plus industrialisés au monde (France, États-Unis, Canada, Japon, Royaume-Uni, Italie, Allemagne).
Ces pays représentent 10% de la population mondiale et environ 46% du produit international brut (PIB) mondial. L'Union européenne y est également représentée alors que la Chine qui occupe le 2ème rang et de l'Inde qui occupe le 5ème rang n'en font pas partie.
Le 50ème sommet du G7 concernant les chefs d'état et de gouvernement avait lieu dans les Pouilles, dans le resort de Borgo Egnazia, du 13 au 15 juin 2024, et à cette occasion, la poste italienne a mis en circulation, le 11 juin 2024, un timbre spécial, incluant la mention "G7 Italia 2024" et le logo de la présidence italienne (un olivier stylisé).
Ce timbre autocollant (tarif "B zone 3" correspondant à un envoi jusqu'à 20g vers les pays d'Océanie - 3,20€ actuellement, tirage : 250020) a été utilisé à droite sur la lettre ci-dessous envoyée le 7 novembre 2024 depuis Rome. 
After Japan in 2023 and before Canada in 2025 (and France in 2026), Italy held the rotating presidency of the G7 (Group of Seven) in 2024, a discussion and economic partnership group created in 1975, which brings together each year the heads of state and government of the 7 most industrialized countries in the world (France, United States, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany).
These countries represent 10% of the world's population and approximately 46% of the world's gross international product. The European Union is also represented, while China, which ranks 2nd, and India, which ranks 5th, are not part of it.
The 50th G7 Summit of Heads of State and Government took place in Puglia, in the Borgo Egnazia resort, from 13 to 15 June 2024, and on this occasion, the Italian Post put into circulation, on June 11, 2024, a special stamp, including the mention "G7 Italia 2024" and the logo of the Italian Presidency (a stylized olive tree).
This self-adhesive stamp (rate "B zone 3" corresponding to a shipment up to 20g to the countries of Oceania - currently €3.20, print run: 250,020) was used on the right on the cover below sent on November 7, 2024 from Rome.

Ce sommet a constitué l'occasion pour les dirigeants du G7 d'afficher leur détermination à défendre l'ordre international fondé sur l'état de droit et de renforcer leurs relations avec les pays en développement. 
Tout au long de l'année 2024, d'autres réunions ministérielles ont été organisées en Italie dans le cadre du G7, en particulier, et pour la première fois, du 14 au 16 octobre 2024 (dans les villes italiennes d'Assise et de Solfagnano), une réunion exclusivement consacrée aux thèmes de l'inclusion et du handicap.
C'est ce qu'évoque le timbre ci-dessus au centre (tarif domestique "B 50g" - 2,75€ pour un envoi jusqu'à 50g, tirage : 250020), émis le 14 octobre 2024. 
Cette réunion a été marquée par l'adoption de la Charte de Solfagnano, un document novateur qui contient les engagements des pays du G7 à faire progresser la mise en œuvre de la Convention des Nations unies relative aux droits des personnes handicapées.
Le 3ème timbre ci-dessus à gauche (tarif "B zone 1" correspondant à un envoi jusqu'à 20g vers les pays d'Europe et du bassin méditerranéen - 1,30€ actuellement, tirage : 250020), émis le 1er novembre 2023 et conçu par Gaetano Ieluzzo, célèbre le 30ème anniversaire de l'entrée en vigueur du Traité de Maastricht, officiellement le traité sur l'Union européenne (l'UE était composée de 12 pays à l'époque), l'un des traités fondateurs de l'Union européenne.
Ce traité structure l'Union européenne autour de trois piliers : les Communautés européennes, la politique étrangère et de sécurité commune, et la coopération policière et judiciaire en matière pénale. Il institue également une citoyenneté européenne, renforce les pouvoirs du Parlement européen et institue l'Union économique et monétaire.
This summit was an opportunity for G7 leaders to demonstrate their determination to defend the international order based on the rule of law and to strengthen their relations with developing countries.
Throughout 2024, other ministerial meetings were organized in Italy within the framework of the G7, in particular, and for the first time, from 14 to 16 October 2024 (in the Italian cities of Assisi and Solfagnano), a meeting exclusively dedicated to the themes of inclusion and disability.
This is what the stamp above in the center evokes (domestic "B 50g" rate - €2.75 for a shipment up to 50g, print run: 250,020), issued on October 14, 2024.
This meeting was marked by the adoption of the Solfagnano Charter, a groundbreaking document that contains commitments for the G7 countries to advance the realisation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The 3rd stamp above on the left ("B zone 1" rate corresponding to a shipment of up to 20g to countries in Europe and the Mediterranean basin - currently €1.30, print run: 250,020), issued on November 1, 2023 and designed by Gaetano Ieluzzo, celebrates the 30th anniversary of the entry into force of the Maastricht Treaty, officially the Treaty on European Union (12 member countries at the time), one of the founding treaties of the European Union.
This treaty structures the European Union around three pillars: the European Communities, the common foreign and security policy, and police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters. It also establishes European citizenship, strengthens the powers of the European Parliament and establishes Economic and Monetary Union.  

"60 years of diplomatic relations" joint stamp set with China, on FDC from France

Série "60 ans de relations diplomatiques", commune avec la Chine, sur FDC de France

Le 27 janvier 1964, les gouvernements de la République française et de la République populaire de Chine décidaient d'établir officiellement des relations diplomatiques. La France du Général de Gaulle était ainsi le premier grand pays occidental à reconnaître officiellement la République populaire de Chine de Mao Zedong.
60 ans après, en 2024, les deux pays ont célébré l'anniversaire de ces relations diplomatiques franco-chinoises en organisant, tant en France qu'en Chine, de très nombreuses manifestations dans différents domaines (coopération scientifique, santé, environnement, art de vivre, création artistique, tourisme, économie...).
Les administrations postales des 2 pays ont également décidé de mettre en circulation, le 18 octobre 2024, 2 timbres commun à l'occasion de cet anniversaire.
La version française de cette jolie série commune a été utilisée sur la lettre ci-dessous avec TAD Premier Jour (conception : Sandrine Chimbaud) de Paris.
A noter qu'une série commune France-Chine avait déjà été émise en 2014 pour commémorer les 50 ans de ces relations diplomatiques.
On January 27, 1964, the governments of the French Republic and the People's Republic of China decided to officially establish diplomatic relations. General de Gaulle's France was thus the first major Western country to officially recognize Mao Zedong's People's Republic of China.
60 years later, in 2024, the two countries celebrated the anniversary of these Franco-Chinese diplomatic relations by organizing, both in France and China, numerous events in different fields (scientific cooperation, health, environment, art of living, artistic creation, tourism, economy, etc.).
The postal administrations of the two countries also decided to put into circulation, on October 18, 2024, two joint stamps on the occasion of this anniversary.
The French version of this lovely joint set was used on the cover below with First Day cancellation (design: Sandrine Chimbaud) from Paris.
To note that a joint France-China series had already been issued in 2014 to commemorate 50 years of these diplomatic relations.

The official logo of this 60th anniversary is present on these two stamps (print run: 423,000), each printed in a sheetlet of 15 stamps, illustrating two spectacular sites classified as UNESCO World Heritage sites: Mount Taishan (€1.29, design: Wang Yuliang), the first of the five sacred mountains of China and Mont-Saint-Michel (€1.96, design: Sandrine Chimbaud), one of the most famous sanctuaries in France. 
The sacred Mount Taishan was the object of an imperial cult for nearly 2,000 years, and the artistic masterpieces found there are in perfect harmony with the natural landscape. It has always been a source of inspiration for Chinese artists and scholars and symbolizes ancient Chinese civilizations and beliefs.
Perched on a rocky islet in the midst of vast sandbanks exposed to powerful tides between Normandy and Brittany stand the Mont-Saint-Michel, the "Wonder of the West", a Gothic-style Benedictine abbey dedicated to the archangel St Michael, and the village that grew up in the shadow of its great walls. Built between the 11th and 16th centuries, the abbey is a technical and artistic tour de force, having had to adapt to the problems posed by this unique natural site.

"Red Book - Insects and Spiders" stamps and souvenir sheet on FDCs from Moldova

Timbres et bloc-feuillet "Livre Rouge - Insectes et araignées" sur FDCs de Moldavie

Depuis 1997, la poste moldave a régulièrement mis en circulation des timbres illustrant des espèces animales ou végétales menacées et inscrites dans le Livre Rouge de la République de Moldavie ("Cartea Roșie a Republicii Moldova").
Ce Livre Rouge répertorie en particulier 208 espèces de plantes et de champignons, 219 espèces d'animaux (incluant 80 insectes environ), sélectionnées sur trois critères de la Liste rouge de l'UICN : vulnérable, en danger, en danger critique d'extinction.
Le 30 octobre 2024, la poste moldave a mis en circulation une nouvelle série (4 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet, conception : Vladimir Melnic) sur ce même thème, consacrée cette fois à des espèces menacées d'insectes et araignées.

Since 1997, the Post of Moldova has regularly put into circulation stamps illustrating endangered animal or plant species and listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Moldova ("Cartea Roșie a Republicii Moldova").
This Red Book lists in particular 208 species of plants and fungi, 219 species of animals (including about 80 insects), selected on three criteria from the IUCN Red List: vulnerable, endangered, critically endangered.
On October 30, 2024, the Post of Moldova put into circulation a new series (4 stamps + 1 souvenir sheet, design: Vladimir Melnic) on the same theme, this time dedicated to endangered species of insects and spiders.

La magicienne dentelée (Saga pedo - 5 L) est une sauterelle à large répartition mondiale, considérée comme l'un des plus grands insectes d'Europe. Son régime alimentaire exclusivement carnivore et sa reproduction parthénogénétique en font un orthoptère exceptionnel. 
Sur la période 2005-2010, cette espèce, ainsi que l'autre espèce de sauterelle Onconotus servillei (5,10 L), ont été uniquement répertoriées en Moldavie sur 2 sites : le village de Slobozia-Dushca et la réserve naturelle de "Bugeac" (sud du pays).
Les 2 derniers timbres (8,50 L et 13,50 L) représentent des espèces de coléoptères, respectivement un grand calosome (Calosoma sycophanta) et un scarabée rhinocéros européen (Oryctes nasicornis), deux espèces particulièrement rares et menacées en Moldavie, observées en particulier dans la réserve scientifique de "Plaiul Fagului".

The spiked magician (Saga pedo - 5 L) is a grasshopper with a wide global distribution, considered one of the largest insects in Europe. Its exclusively carnivorous diet and its parthenogenetic reproduction make it an exceptional orthopteran.
Over the period 2005-2010, this species, as well as the other species of grasshopper Onconotus servillei (5.10 L), were only recorded in Moldova on two sites: the village of Slobozia-Dushca and the "Bugeac" nature reserve (south of the country).
The last two stamps (8.50 L and 13.50 L) represent species of beetles, respectively a forest caterpillar hunter (Calosoma sycophanta) and a European rhinoceros beetle (Oryctes nasicornis), two particularly rare and endangered species in Moldova, observed in particular in the "Plaiul Fagului" scientific reserve.

The above souvenir sheet (14 L, print run: 40,000) illustrates a species of spider, the wasp spider (Argiope bruennichi), characterized by its yellow and black streaks on the body.
It is one of the spider species practicing systematic sexual cannibalism with more or less success and polyandry. After mating, the female quickly lays 200 to 300 eggs in a white cocoon camouflaged in brown, composed of silks of different biochemical structures, like the one shown in the margin of the souvenir sheet on the right.
The wasp spider is an orbital spider, that is to say that it weaves a spiral orb web to trap its prey.

Un grand merci Maxim pour ces 2 intéressantes lettres de Suisse, affranchies avec un timbre (1,90 CHF) faisant partie de la série de Noël (4 timbres autocollants, conception : Sandra De Coppi) émise le 7 novembre 2024 !
Cette série (chacun des 4 timbres - sapin de Noël, boule de Noël, étoile, cristal de neige - a été imprimé en carnet de 10 timbres) fait penser à de petites fenêtres du calendrier de l'Avent.
En regardant bien, on y voit le motif dans le motif: des paysages hivernaux idylliques qui invitent à la contemplation, à travers des symboles typiques de Noël, comme cette décoration en forme d'étoile ici.

Looking through them reveals a design within the design: idyllic winter landscapes that invite you to pause for a moment, through typical Christmas symbols, such as this star-shaped decoration here.

Every year during the (pre) Christmas period, the Bern-Bethlehem post sets up a special post office, installed in a Christmas chalet, where letters can be postmarked with a specific postmark on site.
It is this special postmark, representing a Christmas tree this year, which was applied on December 6 or 7, 2024 on the cover above.
Bethlehem, a city in the West Bank, birthplace of Jesus of Nazareth according to the Bible, is the name of this district located in the west of the Swiss capital.
To note that decorative stickers appear in the margins of these four booklets, like this car and this star on the envelope above.

The official logo designed by the UPU for this 150th anniversary is reproduced at the top left on the stamp, featuring a postal messenger on horseback with, in the background, a view of Montevideo (we see in particular the Metropolitan Cathedral inaugurated in 1804) as it appears on a document dating from 1857, preserved in the Photographic Center of Montevideo (created in 2002).
Also note the mention "Union Postale Universelle" on the stamp, recalling that French is the official language of the UPU, English being a working language since 1994.
Uruguay has been a member of the UPU since July 1, 1880.  

"30 years of diplomatic relations with Bulgaria" stamp on FDC from SMOM

Le 11 novembre 1994, l'Ordre Souverain Militaire de Malte (OSMM) et la République de Bulgarie ont officiellement établi des relations diplomatiques. Depuis l'ouverture d'une l'ambassade à Sofia en 2005, toutes les activités de l'Ordre de Malte dans le pays sont menées par l'ambassade.
Au fil des ans, l'ambassade a été très active dans les dons et les projets caritatifs sur tout le territoire bulgare à travers plus de 500 activités dans 100 endroits.
Ces activités comprennent l'équipement hospitalier à partir du premier appareil spécifique pour les enfants atteints de paralysie cérébrale "Nirvana" et un appareil à ultrasons spécifique pour l'hôpital pulmonaire. L'ambassade a également fourni des ambulances, des défibrillateurs, des appareils à rayons X, des lits, des matelas et différents meubles. Il y a également eu des dons importants d'ordinateurs et d'appareils électroniques aux écoles et aux centres de réfugiés. 
On November 11, 1994, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM) and the Republic of Bulgaria officially established diplomatic relations. Since the opening of an embassy in Sofia in 2005, all activities of the Order of Malta in the country have been carried out through the embassy.
Over the years, the embassy has been very active in donations and charitable projects throughout Bulgaria through more than 500 activities in 100 locations.
Activities include hospital equipment starting from the first specific device for children affected by cerebral paralysis "Nirvana" and a specific ultrasound device for pulmonary hospital. The embassy has provided also ambulances, defibrillators, X-ray devices, beds, mattresses and different pieces of furniture. There have been also significant donations of computers and electronic devices to schools and refugee's centres.

L'Ordre de Malte en Bulgarie a aussi organisé différentes activités caritatives, notamment la distribution de nourriture chaude aux sans-abri, aux réfugiés et aux personnes dans le besoin en hiver. Les bénévoles ont participé aux campagnes de secours après les grandes inondations de 2014 à Varna et Mizia. En 2013, l'ambassade a lancé le projet "Creative holiday" qui vise à aider les enfants défavorisés à socialiser et à grandir grâce à la créativité, à l'amitié et au plaisir pendant leurs vacances d'été. En 2022, le projet a touché plus de 260 enfants. Le projet "Make a Wish" a été également lancé pour aider les enfants défavorisés. 
Le 11 novembre 2024, l'administration postal de l'OSMM à Rome a mis en circulation un timbre (3,15€, tirage : 5000), imprimé (en France par Cartor) en feuillet de 9 timbres, consacré au 30ème anniversaire de l'établissement de relations diplomatiques avec la Bulgarie, présent sur le FDC officiel ci-dessus.
Ce timbre représente le drapeau des activités de l'Ordre de Malte, avec sa croix octogonale caractéristique, et le drapeau de la République de Bulgarie, avec, en arrière-plan, les contours géographiques de la Bulgarie, avec la capitale Sofia. Les armoiries de la Bulgarie et de l'Ordre de Malte sont illustrées sur le TAD Premier Jour.

Paradoxically, the Principality of Andorra is not a member of the UPU, its postal system having been managed by the postal administrations of Spain and France since the UPU Congress in 1929 and the opening of the first French post offices in 1931 (the first Spanish offices having been operational since 1928).

C'est cette atmosphère qui est illustrée sur le timbre spécial de la Deutsche Post, mis en circulation le 2 novembre 2024, intitulé "Noël pour les enfants / Boulangerie de Noël" ("Weihnachten für Kinder / Weihnachtsbäckerei").
Ce timbre (0,85€), conçu par Jan-Niklas Kröger à partir d'une illustration de Julia Ginsbach (née en 1967), l'autrice des albums "Tafiti" en particulier, incluant un code matriciel et imprimé en feuillet de 10 timbres, figure sur la lettre ci-dessous avec TAD Premier Jour bleu de Berlin. What would Christmas be without the wonderful smell of freshly baked cookies, a cosy living room and the annual Christmas carols?
Children in particular are full of anticipation during Advent: with shining eyes, they write their wish lists to Santa Claus or the Baby Jesus, decorate the Christmas tree and count down the days until the party.
This atmosphere is illustrated on the Deutsche Post special stamp, put into circulation on November 2, 2024, entitled "Christmas for Children / Christmas Bakery" ("Weihnachten für Kinder / Weihnachtsbäckerei").
This stamp (€0.85), designed by Jan-Niklas Kröger based on an illustration by Julia Ginsbach (born in 1967), the author of the "Tafiti" albums in particular, including a matrix code and printed in a sheetlet of 10 stamps, was used on the cover below with blue First Day cancellation from Berlin. Le motif du timbre montre une illustration atmosphérique du chant de Noël "La Boulangerie de Noël" (1987) du musicien et compositeur Rolf Zuckowski (né en 1947). Ce chant parle des goûts que l'on retrouve dans une boulangerie de Noël, tout en ajoutant les risques de créer un désordre lors du mélange des ingrédients...
Avec ce timbre, une coopération très spéciale avec Ravensburger (entreprise allemande spécialisée dans la fabrication et la distribution de jeux, jouets, livres et puzzles,) a été réalisée pour l'Avent de cette année.
Sa particularité : avec un stylo tiptoi® de Ravensburger, ce timbre de Noël peut sonner pour la première fois ! Lorsque les enfants tapotent les images et les textes du timbre avec le stylo tiptoi®, des sons, des paroles et des chansons se font entendre - le courrier de Noël de cette année devient ainsi une véritable expérience sonore.
Jens a complété l'affranchissement avec 2 timbres faisant partie de la série courante intitulée "Welt der Briefe" ("Un monde de lettres", conception : Bettina Walter), initiée en décembre 2021, représentant respectivement un paon dont la roue est constituée de lettres (0,15€, émis le 1er août 2024) et un hippocampe avec un message dans une bouteille (0,10€, émis le 2 novembre 2022).
The stamp motif shows an atmospheric illustration of the Christmas carol "The Christmas Bakery" (1987) by the musician and composer Rolf Zuckowski (born 1947). This carol talks about the tastes found in a Christmas bakery, while adding the risks of creating a mess when mixing the ingredients...

Jens completed the postage with two stamps from the definitive series entitled "Welt der Briefe" ("A world of letters", design: Bettina Walter), initiated in December 2021, depicting respectively a peacock with a feather's train made of letters (€0.15, issued on August 1, 2024) and a seahorse with a message inside a bottle (€0.10, issued on November 2, 2022).
