Scouting : new Czech pictorial cancellation devoted to A. B. Svojsík

Scoutisme : nouvelle flamme tchèque consacrée à A. B. Svojsík

On September 17, 2016, a new pictorial cancellation was put into circulation by the main post office of Prague 1 on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the birth of Antonín Benjamin Svojsík (1876-1938), regarded as the founder and organizer of Scouting in Czechoslovakia.
Inspired by the writings of Baden-Powell, Svojsík was the founder in 1911 of "Junák", the first scout movement in this country.
"Junák - český skaut" is today the largest organization of children and youth in Czech Republic (50,439 members in 2014).

A big thank you Slavek for this interesting cover above, postmarked with this special cancellation, including the insignia of the Association of Czech Scouts, also present at the top left on the stamp (21 CZK, design : Marko Čermák) issued on May 2, 2012 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the creation of this same scout movement in Czechoslovakia.
In Czechoslovakia, scouting was banned for the first time by the Nazis before resuming its activities in 1945 and again being banned in 1948 after the Communist putsch.
This movement was allowed again after the Velvet Revolution in 1989.
Finally, to note that a stamp showing a portrait of Antonín Benjamin Svojsík was issued in Czechoslovakia in 1991 (80 years of Scouting in the country).
