La poste indienne a commémoré le 150ème anniversaire de la naissance de Rabindranath Tagore en lui consacrant une série de 2 timbres, également réunis dans un bloc-feuillet, émis le 7 mai 2011.
J'ai eu la chance de recevoir le joli FDC officiel de la poste indienne ci-dessous, avec oblitération "1er Jour" de la ville de Bhubaneswar. Merci beaucoup S.S. Rath :-)
Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) fut un poète, romancier, philosophe, dramaturge, musicien, acteur et peintre indien dont l'œuvre a profondément influencé la littérature et la musique du Bengale au début du 20ème siècle.
India Post has commemorated the 150th anniversary of the birth of Rabindranath Tagore by devoting him a set of two stamps, also issued in a souvenir sheet, released on May 7, 2011.

Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) was an Indian poet, novelist, philosopher, playwright, musician, actor and painter whose work has profoundly influenced the literature and music of Bengal in the early 20th century.
Mais Tagore est surtout connu dans le monde entier pour avoir été le 1er auteur non européen à obtenir le Prix Nobel de littérature en 1913 (pour son oeuvre "Gitanjali" en particulier).Il a farouchement lutté pour l'indépendance de l'Inde, contre la partition du Bengale, en soutenant le mouvement initié par Gandhi. Beaucoup de ses romans reflètent la complexité de la vie intellectuelle et politique du Bengale comme "La maison et le monde", "Gora" ou "Quatre chapitres", écrit en 1934 lors d'un voyage à Ceylan.
Tagore oeuvra également tout au long de sa vie pour approfondir les échanges culturels entre l'Inde et l'Occident.
Pour l'anecdote, 2 chants de son canon "rabindrasangeet" sont devenus respectivement les hymnes nationaux de l'Inde et du Bangladesh !
D'autres administrations postales ont prévu aussi des émissions de timbres en 2011 consacrés à Tagore : Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Uruguay, Royaume-Uni...
But Tagore is best known around the world for having been was the first non-European writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913 (for his work "Gitanjali" in particular).
He fiercely fought for the independence of India, against the partition of Bengal, by supporting the movement initiated by Gandhi. Many of his novels reflect the complexity of the intellectual and political life of Bengal like "The Home and the World", "Gora" or "Four Chapters" written in 1934 during a trip to Ceylon.
Tagore was also active throughout his life to further cultural exchanges between India and the West.
For the anecdote, two songs from his canon "rabindrasangeet" became respectively the national anthems of India and Bangladesh !
Other postal administrations have also scheduled issues of stamps devoted to Tagore in 2011 : Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Uruguay, United Kingdom...
