Le 10 septembre 2019, les administrations postales de l'état de la Cité du Vatican et de l'état d'Israël ont mis en circulation un intéressant bloc-feuillet consacré au 25ème anniversaire de l'établissement de relations diplomatiques entre les 2 pays.
Le 30 décembre 1993, Israël et le Saint-Siège ont en effet signé à Jérusalem l'accord fondamental établissant des relations diplomatiques complètes entre les 2 pays, entré officiellement en vigueur en 1994.
Ce lien unique entre le seul état juif et l'église catholique universelle combine des éléments politiques et spirituels et ce bloc-feuillet commun représente l'église Saint-Pierre et la synagogue de Capharnaüm, symbolisant les relations et l'interaction uniques entre le judaïsme et le christianisme.

On September 10, 2019, the postal administrations of the state of the Vatican City and the state of Israel put into circulation an interesting souvenir sheet dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
On December 30, 1993, Israel and the Holy See indeed signed in Jerusalem the fundamental agreement establishing full diplomatic relations between the two countries, which officially entered into force in 1994.
This unique link between the only Jewish state and the universal Catholic Church combines political and spiritual elements and this joint souvenir sheet represents the St. Peter's Church and the Synagogue of Capernaum, symbolizing the unique relationships and interaction between Judaism and Christianity.
This souvenir sheet was used on this letter sent on the first day of issue from the Vatican City. Thank you very much Salvatore!
Ce bloc-feuillet (1,15€, tirage : 60000), imprimé en France par Cartor Security Printing, comporte un timbre de forme ronde représentant une vue aérienne de la Maison de Saint Pierre (de forme octogonale), les marges incluant une vue plus large de ce site archéologique de Capharnaüm, situé sur la rive nord du lac de Tibériade (nord-est d'Israël, entre le plateau du Golan et la Galilée), avec les ruines d'une synagogue monumentale au 1er plan (datant de l'époque byzantine) et la basilique Saint-Pierre, construite sur une église byzantine du 4ème siècle, elle-même construite sur les restes archéologiques présumés de cette Maison de Saint Pierre (domus ecclesiae) datant du début du christianisme.
Les drapeaux des 2 pays sont également présents en bas à gauche sur ce bloc-feuillet.
A l'occasion des visites en Terre Sainte des papes Benoît XVI et François, des timbres communs entre le Vatican et Israël avaient déjà été émis respectivement en 2010 et 2015.
This souvenir sheet (€ 1.15, print run: 60,000), printed in France by Cartor Security Printing, includes a round-shaped stamp depicting an aerial view of the House of Peter (having an octagonal shape), the margins including a wider view of this archaeological site of Capernaum, located on the north shore of the Sea of Galilee (northeast of Israel, between the Golan Heights and the Galilee), with the ruins of a monumental synagogue in the foreground (dating from the Byzantine era) and St. Peter's Basilica, built on a 4th century Byzantine church, itself built on the presumed archaeological remains of this House of Peter (domus ecclesiae) dating from the beginning of Christianity.
The flags of the two countries are also present at the bottom left on this souvenir sheet.
On the occasion of the visits to the Holy Land of Popes Benedict XVI and Francis, joint stamps between the Vatican City and Israel had already been issued in 2010 and 2015 respectively.
