Nouveaux FDC du Brésil !

New FDC from Brazil !

Thank you very much Marcelo for these three new FDC from Brazil that allow me again to discover new facets of your country :-)
The first one below is about the stamp issued on July 17, 2010 devoted to the "English" city of Paranapiacaba located in the municipality of Santo André (State of São Paulo). I like the original shape of the FDC cancellation !
This little town was founded in 1860 to house employees of the British train company that built the São Paulo Railway, a line linking the port of Santos to Jundiaí, inside the land.

This scenic town has preserved English style wooden houses, some carefully planned streets and an old clock tower (featured on the stamp), reminding Big Ben, that at that time controlled the pace of activities of workers...
These unique architecture and heritage in Brazil has brought to Paranapiacaba the title of National Heritage and a nomination for UNESCO World Heritage site is in progress... The city is surrounded by the exuberance of the Atlantic forest of the Serra do Mar, hence arguably the dominant green color on this stamp :-)

Let's stay in the field of railway and transport in general with the other stamp above, issued on July 28, 2010, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the creation of the Brazilian Ministry of Transport, an important institution in the country's economic development.
By decree of July 28, 1860, the Brazilian emperor Dom Pedro II (the current name of the São Paulo Philatelic Agency, written on the postmark above dated August 16, 2010 !), created the Secretariat of state for agriculture, trade and public works which later became the Ministry of Transport. The same day, the Brazilian Post has also issued a stamp celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Ministry of Agriculture...
Irineu Evangelista de Sousa, Baron and Viscount of Mauá, businessman, banker and politician, was charged at the time of building the first railroad and was a great supporter of the country's industrialization. His portrait is featured on this stamp, as Patron of transports...

I already mentioned on this blog the round stamp issued on June 11, 2010 devoted to the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Marcelo was kind enough to send me the FDC above corresponding to this issue. I've just received this letter this week while it was posted on June 28, 2010 in São Paulo !!
Almost three months to reach France... The blue print with the letters "M-E" (meaning "Mal Encaminhada"), the equivalent of the "FD" print in France, determines that this letter had a routing problem inside Brazil... Unfortunately, no other cancellation was applied on the back of this letter which would indicate in which Brazilian city it has passed through mistakenly...
As a reminder, the German flag is featured with upside-down colors on this stamp !
