87ème congrès de la FFAP - Institut de France

Since 2006 (79th Congress), the French Post used to issue a stamp with an attached lebel on the occasion of the Congress of the FFAP (French Federation of Philatelic Associations).
This Congress is taking place in Paris every two years and the stamp issued on this occasion evokes each time an iconic landmark of the French capital : Opéra Garnier (2006), Grand Palais (2008), Conciergerie (2010) and Musée d'Orsay (2012).
On the occasion of the 87th Congress of the FFAP organized this year during the last Stamp exhibition "Planète Timbres" in Paris, the French Post has issued on June 23, 2014, a new stamp devoted this time to the Institut de France ("French Institute").
It is that stamp and its label ("Pont des Arts") which appears on the first day cover below from Paris of June 21, 2014. Thank you very much Joël :-)

That stamp (€ 0.61, print run : 1.500.000) and its label were created and engraved by Claude Andréotto while the FDC cancellation was designed by Claude Perchat.
Cardinal Mazarin is behind the creation of this Institute (a college and an academy at the time) built between 1662 and 1688 by the architect Le Vau, opposite the Louvre across the Seine river.
With its famous dome and its ocher curved façade, it is one of the finest buildings in Paris, an example of the classic style of the time.
This French learned society groups today five academies : the French Academy, the Academy of Humanities, the Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences and the Academy of Fine Arts.
The attached label features the "Pont des Arts" and a part of the Louvre Museum located in front of the Institut de France. Inaugurated in 1804, this footbridge was then the first metal bridge built in Paris.
The current bridge was rebuilt between 1981 and 1984, with seven arches instead of the original 9 ones. It is now a symbol for lovers around the world who have taken to attaching padlocks...
