En 2008, le gouvernement taïwanais a débuté l'électrification de la ligne de chemin de fer "Hua-tung" reliant les 2 villes situées sur la côte est de l'île, Hualien et Taitung (161 km).
Cette électrification devait permettre d'augmenter l'efficacité du transport des passagers et du frêt et d'accélérer le développement économique de l'est de Taïwan.
Ce projet a été achevé en 2014 et la poste taïwanaise (Chunghwa Post) a émis, le 28 juin 2014 (année 103 sur l'île), un bloc-feuillet spécial évoquant certaines portions de cette ligne Hua-tung.

In 2008, the Taiwanese government started the electrification of the Hua-tung railway line connecting the two cities located on the eastern coast of the island, Hualien and Taitung (161 km).
This electrification had to increase the transportation efficiency of passengers and freight and to accelerate the economic development in Eastern Taiwan.
This project was completed in 2014 and the Taiwanese Post (Chunghwa Post) issued on June 28, 2014 (the year 103 on the island), a special souvenir sheet evoking some portions of this Hua-tung railway line.

Le timbre à 5 NT$ montre une rame du Puyama Express, exploité par la Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA), stationnée en gare de Hualien.
Ce même train (vitesse maxi : 150 km/h), en service à Taïwan depuis février 2013, est également représenté sur le timbre à 25 NT$, sortant du tunnel de Shanli.
Le 3ème timbre (12 NT$) représente un autre train, le Taroko Express (en service depuis février 2007), roulant sur une portion du pont Kecheng.
La marge supérieure de ce bloc montre le Puyuma Express sur la portion surélevée de chemin de fer à Yuemei, avec les magnifiques paysages de montagne de la East Rift Valley dans le fond.
The NT $ 5 stamp shows the train Puyama Express, operated by the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA), stationed in Hualien train station.
That same train (top speed : 150 km/h), in operation in Taiwan since February 2013, is also featured on the NT $ 25 stamp, leaving the Shanli tunnel.
The third stamp (NT $ 12) depicts another train, the Taroko Express (in operation since February 2007), on a section of the Kecheng bridge.
The upper margin of this souvenir sheet shows the Puyuma Express on the elevated section of the railway in Yuemei, with the beautiful mountainous scenery of the East Rift Valley in the background.
