Série "Coupe du monde 2014" à Chypre du nord

"FIFA World Cup 2014" stamp set from Northern Cyprus

France has just been eliminated from the 2014 FIFA World Cup but that does not prevent me to speak about this competition through stamps !
I was indeed lucky to receive the official FDC below regarding the series (2 stamps) issued on February 17, 2014 by the postal administration of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, dedicated to this World Cup in Brazil. Thank you very much Ertugrul :-)
To note the FDC postmark (depicting this World Cup's logo) from Lefkoşa, the northern part of Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus since the island is divided in two parts (the Republic of Cyprus being located in the south of the island) following the intervention of the Turkish army in 1974.
As a reminder, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is recognized only by Turkey and its postal administration is neither a member of the UPU nor the organization PostEurop...

These two stamps (print run : 40.000 each), designed by Görel Korol Sönmezer, include another emblem of this World Cup (including a parrot head) as well as the official ball "Brazuca" specially created by Adidas.
Each stamp also features an action game and some landmarks of the two main cities hosting matches during this competition : a bridge in Rio de Janeiro and the São Paulo Metropolitan Cathedral (Neo-Gothic style).
To note that the logo of the post of Northern Cyprus (top left on this envelope) includes the date of January 6, 1964 corresponding to the beginnings of postal services in this part of the island, following then armed clashes between the two Greek and Turk communities...
It's worth also noting that all the mails sent from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus transit through the Turkish city of Mersin before being routed internationally.
