Depuis 2013, la poste cubaine émet chaque année des timbres à l'occasion du championnat national de philatélie ("Campeonato Nacional de Filatelia"), consacrés pour la plupart à des personnalités connues dans le monde.
Le 22 octobre 2013, une série (6 timbres + 1 bloc-feuillet) a été émise pour annoncer la 11ème édition de ce championnat organisé dans la Bibliothèque nationale José Martí à La Havane, du 15 au 22 novembre 2013.
Cette édition coïncidait avec le 112ème anniversaire de la création de cette institution culturelle.
Les personnalités à l'honneur sur cette série étaient : l'écrivain uruguayen Mario Benedetti, le danseur et chorégraphe espagnol Antonio Gades, l'actrice mexicaine María Félix, l'explorateur et naturaliste allemand Alexander von Humboldt, le chanteur et pianiste de jazz américain Nat King Cole et le pilote automobile argentin Juan Manuel Fangio.
Since 2013, the Cuban Post is issuing stamps every year for the National Philatelic Championship ("Campeonato Nacional de Filatelia"), most of which being devoted to famous personalities around the world.

Le bloc-feuillet (1 peso) de cette série était consacré à l'écrivain américain Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961), célèbre pour avoir séjourné à Cuba entre 1930 et 1960 et y avoir laissé une marquante empreinte littéraire.
Fort du succès du "Vieil Homme et la Mer", il reçoit en 1954 le Prix Nobel de la littérature qu'il dédie au peuple cubain.
Parmi ses activités préférées à Cuba, la pêche à l'espadon, ce que le timbre de ce bloc-feuillet nous rappelle, à côté du portrait d'Hemingway.
Merci beaucoup Raudel pour cette jolie lettre envoyée en recommandé (non oblitérée malheureusement) depuis la ville portuaire de Matanzas (nord-ouest de l'île), affranchie avec ce bloc-feuillet en 2 exemplaires !
The souvenir sheet (1 peso) of this series was dedicated to the American writer Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961), famous for having stayed in Cuba between 1930 and 1960 and who left a remarkable literary imprint.
With the success of "The Old Man and the Sea", he received in 1954 the Nobel Prize for literature that he dedicated to the Cuban people.
Among his favorite activities in Cuba, swordfish fishing, what the stamp of this souvenir sheet reminds us, next to the portrait of Hemingway.
