Timbres "Anniversaire de mariage (noces de diamant) du sultan" sur FDC de Brunei Darussalam
Le 29 juillet 1965, Hassanal Bolkiah (né en 1946), alors prince héritier de Brunei Darussalam, épousait Saleha binti Mohamed Alam bin Abdul Rahaman (née en 1946).
La cérémonie du mariage religieux (*Akad Nikah*) s'est déroulée à la mosquée Omar Ali Saifuddien, suivie d'une réception le soir même à Istana Darul Hana, la résidence officielle du sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien III, père du sultan actuel Hassanal Bolkiah, entre 1951 et 1986.
Trois jours de festivités ont suivi, comprenant des banquets à Istana Darul Hana et à Istana Edinburgh.
A noter que le père de Saleha, Pengiran Anak Mohammad Alam, et la mère du sultan, la reine Damit, étaient frère et sœur, Saleha et Hassanal Bolkiah étaient donc cousins germains.
La reine Saleha et le sultan Hassanal Bolkiah ont eu deux fils, dont le prince héritier Al-Muhtadee Billah (né en 1974) et quatre filles.
Le couple vit aujourd'hui à Istana Nurul Iman, la résidence officielle du sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, achevée en 1984.

The religious wedding ceremony (*Akad Nikah*) took place at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, followed by a reception that same evening at Istana Darul Hana—the official residence of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien III (father of the current Sultan, Hassanal Bolkiah) from 1951 to 1986.
Three days of festivities followed, including banquets at Istana Darul Hana and Istana Edinburgh.
It is worth noting that Saleha's father, Pengiran Anak Mohammad Alam, and the Sultan's mother, Queen Damit, were siblings; thus, Saleha and Hassanal Bolkiah were first cousins.
Queen Saleha and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah have had two sons—including Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah (born in 1974)—and four daughters.
The couple now resides at Istana Nurul Iman, the official residence of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, which was completed in 1984.
Le 26 janvier 2026, la poste de Brunei Darussalam a mis en circulation un timbre (0,60 BND) consacré à cet anniversaire de mariage (60 ans - noces de diamant) entre le sultan Hassanal Bolkiah et Saleha, reine consort.
Ce timbre, représentant un portrait actuel du couple, imprimé en feuille de 20 timbres (incluant ds parties avec encre dorée), a été utilisé en 2 exemplaires sur le FDC officiel ci-dessus. Merci beaucoup Andy !
A noter qu'un bloc-feuillet avec une forte valeur faciale (60 BND) a également été mis en circulation.
Le sultan Hassanal Bolkiah a par la suite également épousé Mariam Abdul Aziz en 1981 et Azrinaz
Mazhar Hakim en 2005. Il a eu quatre enfants de son deuxième mariage et
deux enfants de son troisième. Ces deux mariages s'étant soldés par un
divorce, Saleha demeure la seule épouse avec laquelle il est toujours
marié.
D'autres timbres vont probablement être émis en 2026 pour célébrer le 80ème anniversaire du sultan et de son épouse, Saleha.
On January 26, 2026, Brunei Darussalam Post put into circulation a stamp (BND 0.60) commemorating the wedding anniversary (60 years - diamond jubilee) of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Queen Consort Saleha.
This stamp, featuring a recent portrait of the couple and printed in sheet of 20 (including elements in gold ink), was used in a pair on the official First Day Cover above. Many thanks, Andy!
It is worth noting that a souvenir sheet with a high nominal value (BND 60) was also released.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah subsequently married Mariam Abdul Aziz in 1981 and Azrinaz Mazhar Hakim in 2005. He had four children from his second marriage and two from his third. As both of these marriages ended in divorce, Saleha remains the only wife to whom he is currently married.
Further stamps will likely be issued in 2026 to celebrate the 80th birthdays of the Sultan and his wife, Saleha.
