"Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games" stamp on FDC from Estonia

Timbre "Jeux olympiques de Milano Cortina 2026" sur FDC d'Estonie 

La poste estonienne a émis son premier timbre consacré à des jeux olympiques en 1994 et a mis en circulation, le 23 janvier 2026, son 14ème timbre "olympique", consacré en particulier aux 25èmes jeux olympiques d'hiver, organisés du 6 au 22 février 2026 à Milan et Cortina d'Ampezzo en Italie. 
L'Estonie participe en tant qu'état indépendant aux jeux olympiques d'hiver depuis 1928 (Saint-Moritz) et la poste estonienne avait émis des timbres consacrés à ces jeux d'hiver pour chaque édition depuis 1994 (Lillehammer). L'Estonie avait également participé à ces jeux d'hiver en 1936 puis à partir de 1992, les athlètes estoniens représentant l'URSS entre 1956 et 1988. 
Ce nouveau timbre (3,90€, tirage : 30000), conçu par Kadri Võsumäe et imprimé en feuille de 25 timbres, figure sur le FDC officiel ci-dessous, avec TAD de la capitale, Tallinn. 
The Estonian Post issued its first Olympic-themed stamp in 1994 and, on January 23, 2026, released its 14th "Olympic" stamp, dedicated specifically to the 25th Winter Olympic Games held from February 6 to 22, 2026, in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.
Estonia has participated in the Winter Olympics as an independent state since 1928 (St. Moritz), and the Estonian Post has issued stamps for every edition of the Winter Games since 1994 (Lillehammer). Estonia also participated in the Winter Games in 1936 and from 1992 onwards, with Estonian athletes representing the USSR between 1956 and 1988.
This new stamp (€3.90; print run: 30,000), designed by Kadri Võsumäe and printed in sheet of 25, appears on the official First Day Cover below, with special postmark from the capital, Tallinn.  

Ce timbre, incluant l'emblème de l'équipe olympique estonienne (une flamme aux couleurs du drapeau estonien), représente certains des 11 sports dans lesquels les 31 athlètes estoniens (la plus grande délégation de son histoire) étaient engagés à Milano Cortina : patinage artistique, curling par équipe (mixte) et ski alpin.
Lors de ces jeux, l'Estonie a remporté une seule médaille, en argent, grâce au jeune Henry Sildaru (né en 2006) en ski acrobatique (halfpipe).
A noter que sa sœur, Kelly Sildaru (née en 2002), avait déjà remporté une médaille de bronze lors des jeux de Beijing en 2022, en ski acrobatique également (ski slopestyle).
Depuis 1992, l'Estonie a remporté un total de 9 médailles (4 en or) dont 7 en ski de fond. 
This stamp, featuring the Estonian Olympic team emblem (a flame in the colors of the Estonian flag), depicts some of the 11 sports in which the 31 Estonian athletes—the country's largest-ever delegation—competed at Milano Cortina: figure skating, mixed team curling, and alpine skiing.
At these Games, Estonia won a single medal—a silver—thanks to young Henry Sildaru (born in 2006) in freestyle skiing (halfpipe).
It is worth noting that his sister, Kelly Sildaru (born in 2002), had previously won a bronze medal at the 2022 Beijing Games, also in freestyle skiing (slopestyle).
Since 1992, Estonia has won a total of 9 medals (4 gold), 7 of which were in cross-country skiing.
