400 years of the Bible of Kralice in Czech Rep.

Merci beaucoup Bret :-)
At the initiative of the Czech Brethren ("Unitas Fratrum"), a branch of Protestantism from the Hussite Church, the first complete Czech translation of the Bible (from the original biblical languages : Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek) was printed in the city of Kralice in Moravia.
The first edition, which contained six volumes, was published between 1579 and 1593 but it is the third translation, dating from 1613, that is the most widely known today.
400 years later, the Czech Post issued a stamp (17 CZK) on October 16, 2013 devoted to this Bible of Kralice.
I was lucky to receive the official FDC below, with a postmark from Kralice (depicting the emblem of the Czech Brethren), regarding that stamp. Thank you very much Bret :-)

That stamp, designed by Josef Dudek and partly engraved by Jaroslav Tvrdoň, features a half naked (why ?) girl in the appearance of an angel holding the title page of this Bible of Kralice, with the bookbinding press to the right.
At that time, the Czech Brethren were a prohibited religious organization and their print shop was moved to several secret locations before being installed in the fortress of Kralice in 1578.
The translation of this Bible, an heritage of the Czech Brethren (as mentioned under the engraving above on the left) was particularly initiated by Bishop Jan Blahoslav.
Bret also used a second stamp above to the left (8 CZK), issued on September 8, 2004, devoted to Žižka's Oak Tree, a 500 to 600 years old historic tree...

Thank you also to Bret for this First Day sheet above regarding that same stamp !
