La Coopérative EMS (Express Mail Service), un organe de l'Union postale universelle (UPU) créé en 1999 à Beijing, regroupe aujourd'hui plus de 180 opérateurs postaux dans le monde, qui ont accepté de travailler ensemble pour fournir le produit postal transfrontalier EMS le plus rapide.
Le 10 septembre 2019, plusieurs administrations postales ont mis en circulation un timbre commun (conçu par l'UPU) consacré au 20ème anniversaire (jour pour jour) de la création de cette Coopérative EMS.
Sauf erreur de ma part, les 23 pays concernés par cette émission commune : Chili, Côte d’Ivoire, Chypre, Jordanie, Kazakhstan, Liban, Maldives, Malte, Mexique, Mongolie, Paraguay, Pérou, Philippines, Arabie Saoudite, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Syrie, Togo, Trinité et Tobago, Tunisie, Turquie, Émirats Arabes Unis, Wallis et Futuna.
The EMS (Express Mail Service) Cooperative, an organ of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) created in 1999 in Beijing, consists of over 180 postal operators who have agreed to work together to provide the fastest EMS cross-border postal product.
On September 10, 2019, several postal administrations issued a joint stamp (designed by the UPU) devoted to the 20th anniversary (to the day) of the creation of this EMS Cooperative.
Unless I am mistaken, the 23 countries involved in this joint issue: Chile, Côte d'Ivoire, Cyprus, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Maldives, Malta, Mexico, Mongolia, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Syria, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Wallis and Futuna.
Ce timbre commun représente une carte du monde avec le logo EMS dans la partie supérieure et la mention "Priorité à l'excellence 1999-2019 - Coopérative EMS de l'UPU" dans la langue du pays (ou en anglais), précédée par le drapeau de l'UPU et celui du pays émetteur.
La version srilankaise de ce timbre (45 Rs), avec mentions en anglais, figure en 2 exemplaires sur la lettre ci-dessus envoyée en recommandé en janvier 2020 (date non lisible) depuis Piliyandala. Merci beaucoup Gayanth !
Le timbre à 35 Rs fait partie d'une série (4 timbres) émise le 23 mars 2018, consacrée à des abris pour voyageurs construits souvent en bord de route, appelés "ambalam", situé dans le village de Panavitiya (nord-est de Colombo), près d'une rizière, ici. Cet abri aurait été construit au 18ème siècle et comporte quelques sculptures sur bois témoignant du savoir-faire des sculpteurs cinghalais.
Le timbre à 100 Rs fait partie d'une série (3 timbres) émise le 24 mai 2018, consacrée à des animaux sauvages, un coq de Lafayette (Gallus lafayettii) ici, une espèce endémique, oiseau national du Sri Lanka.
Le dernier timbre (50 Rs) fait partie d'une série courante (12 timbres) émise le 7 octobre 2016, consacrée à des fleurs du pays, l'espèce Impatiens henslowiana ici, considérée comme "vulnérable".
This joint stamp features a world map with the EMS logo at the top and the mention "Delivering Excellence 1999-2019 - UPU EMS Cooperative" in the language of the country (or in English), preceded by the UPU flag and the flag of the issuing country.
The Sri Lankan version of this stamp (45 Rs), with mentions in English, was used in 2 copies on the cover above sent by registered mail in January 2020 (date not readable) from Piliyandala. Thank you very much Gayanth!
The 35 Rs stamp is part of a series (4 stamps) issued on March 23, 2018, dedicated to shelters for travelers often built on the edge of roads, called "ambalam", located in the village of Panavitiya (northeast of Colombo), near a paddy field, here. This shelter would have been built in the 18th century and includes some wood carvings testifying to the skills of Sinhalese sculptors.
The 100 Rs stamp is part of a series (3 stamps) issued on May 24, 2018, dedicated to wild animals, a Sri Lankan junglefowl (Gallus lafayettii) here, an endemic species, national bird of Sri Lanka.
The last stamp (50 Rs) is part of a definitive series (12 stamps) issued on October 7, 2016, dedicated to flowers of the country, the species Impatiens henslowiana here, considered as "vulnerable".
