"Painter Eugen Zotow" joint s/s with Liechtenstein, on cover from Ukraine

Bloc-feuillet "Eugen Zotow" commun avec le Liechtenstein, sur lettre d'Ukraine

Le 6 septembre 2021, les administrations postales de la principauté du Liechtenstein et de l'Ukraine ont émis une intéressante série commune de 2 timbres, sous forme d'un bloc-feuillet, consacrée au 140ème anniversaire de la naissance du peintre, dessinateur et graphiste Eugen Zotow (1881-1953), né à Kharkiv dans l'actuelle Ukraine (faisant partie de l'Empire russe à l'époque).
Sauf erreur de ma part, je crois qu'il s'agit d'une première entre ces 2 pays.
Eugen Zotow est le nom que prit Iwan Mjassojedow lorsqu'il s'installa avec sa femme au Liechtenstein à partir de 1938. Il avait auparavant quitter la Russie en 1919 après la révolution, transitant par la Crimée, l'Allemagne, la Lettonie ou la Belgique.
Eugen Zotow resta au Liechtenstein jusqu'au printemps 1953 lorsqu'il émigra en Argentine où il décéda quelques mois plus tard. 
On September 6, 2021, the postal administrations of the Principality of Liechtenstein and Ukraine issued an interesting joint series of 2 stamps, in a souvenir sheet, dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of the painter, designer and graphic artist Eugen Zotow (1881-1953), born in Kharkiv in present-day Ukraine (part of the Russian Empire at the time).
Unless I'm mistaken, I believe this is a first joint issue between these 2 countries.
Eugen Zotow is the name that Ivan Myasoyedov took when he settled with his wife in Liechtenstein from 1938. He had previously left Russia after the Revolution in 1919, working in Crimea, Germany, Latvia or Belgium.
Eugen Zotow staid in Liechtenstein until the spring of 1953 when he emigrated to Argentina where he died a few months later.

 

En principauté, il fut l'un des premiers artistes indépendants du pays où sa sympathie, son originalité et son talent de portraitiste fut apprécié par la population et la famille princière.
Zotow a conçu plusieurs séries de timbres pour le Liechtenstein à cette époque (château de Vaduz, villes du pays) et la poste du Liechtenstein avait émis en 1996 une série de 3 timbres reproduisant des œuvres de Zotow peintes lors de son séjour en principauté.
Eugen Zotow était déjà à l'honneur sur une série commune (2 timbres) entre le Liechtenstein et la Russie en 2013.
La version ukrainienne de ce bloc-feuillet (tirage : 20000), conçu par la poste du Liechtenstein (Christine Böhmwalder) figure sur la lettre ci-dessus envoyée le 21 septembre 2021 depuis la ville de Lviv. Merci beaucoup Roman !
Ces 2 timbres (tarif permanent "Z" pour l'envoi d'une carte postale dans le monde) reproduisent les œuvres intitulées "Vue sur le château de Vaduz" (collection de la fondation Prof. Eugen Zotow-Ivan Miassojedoff à Vaduz) et "Autoportrait" (vers 1910, musée d'art de Poltava).
La marge inférieure de ce bloc-feuillet est intéressante car elle comporte les signatures du peintre, avec ses 2 noms différents. 

In the Principality, he was one of the first independent artists in the country where his sympathy, eccentricity and talent as a portraitist was appreciated by the people and the Princely family.
Zotow designed several sets of stamps for Liechtenstein at that time (Vaduz Castle, country's cities) and the Post of Liechtenstein had issued in 1996 a series of three stamps reproducing Zotow's works painted during his stay in the Principality.

Eugen Zotow was already in the spotlight in a joint series (2 stamps) between Liechtenstein and Russia in 2013.

The Ukrainian version of this souvenir sheet (print run: 20,000), designed by Liechtenstein Post (Christine Böhmwalder) is present on the above letter sent on September 21, 2021 from the city of Lviv. Thank you very much Roman!

These 2 stamps (permanent rate "Z" for sending a postcard worldwide) reproduce the works entitled "View of Vaduz Castle" (collection of Prof. Eugen Zotow-Ivan Miassojedoff-Stiftung, Vaduz) and "Self-portrait" (around 1910, Poltava Art Museum).

The lower margin of this souvenir sheet is interesting because it contains the painter's signatures, with his two different names.
