Série "Amitié bouddhiste-chrétienne" sur lettre de Thaïlande
Le 21 septembre 2021, la poste thaïlandaise a mis en circulation une série (2 timbres) intitulée "Amitié bouddhiste-chrétienne"
afin de mettre en avant le dialogue inter-religieux et les rencontres
entre les représentants du catholicisme et du bouddhisme.
Ces 2
timbres (5 baht chacun, conception : Udon Niyomtham) ont été imprimés
se-tenant dans un même feuillet composé de 4 timbres et sont consacrés
aux visites apostoliques des papes Jean-Paul II et François dans le
pays, respectivement en 1984 et 2019.
Merci beaucoup Thanakorn pour cette jolie lettre envoyée le 1er jour d'émission (2021 correspondant à l'année 2564 dans le calendrier
bouddhiste) depuis Maha Sarakham (nord-est du pays), affranchie avec ces 2 timbres !
Le
10 mai 1984, Jean-Paul II fut en effet le premier pape à effectuer une
visite en Thaïlande où seulement 0,58% de la population est catholique.
En plus de rencontres officielles avec le roi Rama IX et des membres du
gouvernement, le pape rencontra le patriarche suprême de Thaïlande, le
chef de l'ordre des moines bouddhistes dans le pays.
On September 21, 2021, the Thai Post released a series (2 stamps) entitled "Buddhist-Christian Fellowship" in order to highlight the inter-religious dialogue and meetings between representatives of Catholicism and Buddhism.
These
two stamps (5 Baht each, design: Udon Niyomtham) were printed se-tenant
in the same minisheet composed of 4 stamps and are dedicated to the
apostolic visits of Popes John Paul II and Francis in the country,
respectively in 1984 and 2019.
Thank you very much Thanakorn for this nice letter sent on the first day of issue (2021 corresponding to the year 2564 in the Buddhist calendar) from Maha Sarakham (northeast of the country), franked with these 2 stamps!
On
May 10, 1984, John Paul II was indeed the first pope to visit Thailand
where only 0.58% of the population is Catholic. In addition to official
meetings with King Rama IX and members of the government, the Pope met
with the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, the head of the order of
Buddhist monks in the country.
Le timbre à gauche a été conçu à partir d'une photographie de
cette rencontre, avec le pape Jean-Paul II à droite et Somdet Phra
Ariyavongsagatayana, qu fut patriarche suprême entre 1973 et 1988. Cette
rencontre eu lieu dans le temple bouddhiste Wat Ratchabophit à Bangkok,
construit en 1869 sous le règne du roi Rama V.
Ce même lieu a
accueilli le pape François lors de sa rencontre avec le patriarche
suprême (depuis 2017) Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatanana IX le 21 novembre
2019 (timbre ci-dessus à droite).
La visite en Thaïlande du pape
François coïncidait avec le 350ème anniversaire de la fondation de la
"Mission de Siam" par le pape Clément IX pour superviser l'œuvre
missionnaire catholique dans le pays.
A noter sur cette enveloppe
l'utilisation de timbres courants "Pavillon traditionnel" et "Roi Rama X", émis en 2017 et 2018, (24 baht au total) pour
atteindre le tarif en vigueur d'un envoi vers la France par voie
aérienne, jusqu'à 20g (34 baht).
The stamp on the left was
designed from a photograph of this meeting, with Pope John Paul II on
the right and Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana, who was Supreme Patriarch
between 1973 and 1988. This meeting took place in the Buddhist temple
Wat Ratchabophit in Bangkok, built in 1869 during the reign of King Rama
V.
This same
place hosted Pope Francis during his meeting with Supreme Patriarch
(since 2017) Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatanana IX on November 21, 2019
(stamp above to the right).
Pope
Francis' visit to Thailand coincided with the the 350th anniversary of
the founding of the "Mission de Siam" by Pope Clement IX to oversee
Catholic missionary work in the country.
To note on this envelope the use of "Traditional Pavilion" and "King Rama X" definitive stamps, issued in 2017 and 2018, (24 baht in total) to reach the current rate for an airmail shipment to France, up to 20g (34 baht).
