"Eugen Bâzgu - 70th birth anniversary" prepaid envelope from Moldova

Enveloppe pré-timbrée "70 ans de la naissance d'Eugen Bâzgu" de Moldavie 

À travers la mise en circulation de cette enveloppe pré-timbrée dédiée à l'architecte, restaurateur et muséographe Eugen Bâzgu (1955-2016), le 29 octobre 2025, la poste moldave et le Musée national d'ethnographie et d'histoire naturelle rendent hommage à sa contribution à la sensibilisation du public à la nécessité de préserver le patrimoine culturel bâti sur le territoire de la République de Moldavie.
Eugen Bâzgu est l'un des rares architectes de la République de Moldavie à avoir consacré sa vie à la protection du patrimoine architectural national. L'inauguration du Musée du village de Chișinău en 1995, principal moyen de préserver l'architecture traditionnelle, fut l'un de ses objectifs majeurs. 
Né le 29 octobre 1955 à Căușeni, il a fait ses études à la Faculté d'Architecture de l'Université Technique de Moldavie.
Parmi ses nombreux projets de restauration figurent la forteresse de Soroca, l'église de l'Assomption de la Vierge Marie à Căușeni, la maison-musée Grigore Vieru à Pererâta, le monastère troglodytique d'Horodiște (Țipova) et le complexe muséal Manuc Bey à Hâncești.
Eugen Bâzgu a réalisé plus de 100 projets d'églises en Moldavie et en Ukraine, s'inscrivant dans la tradition de l'architecture religieuse moldave. Il a œuvré activement dans les domaines de la recherche en architecture populaire, architecture religieuse, ethnologie, muséographie et protection des monuments.  
Through the introduction of this prepaid envelope dedicated to the architect, restorer, and museum curator Eugen Bâzgu (1955-2016), on October 29, 2025, the Post of Moldova and the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History pay tribute to his contribution to raising public awareness of the need to preserve the built cultural heritage of the Republic of Moldova.
Eugen Bâzgu is one of the few architects in the Republic of Moldova who dedicated his life to protecting the national architectural heritage. The inauguration of the Chișinău Village Museum in 1995, a key means of preserving traditional architecture, was one of his major achievements.
Born on October 29, 1955, in Căușeni, he studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Moldova. Among his many restoration projects are the Soroca Fortress, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Căușeni, the Grigore Vieru House-Museum in Pererâta, the Horodiște (Țipova) Cave Monastery, and the Manuc Bey Museum Complex in Hâncești.
Eugen Bâzgu completed over 100 church projects in Moldova and Ukraine, working within the tradition of Moldovan religious architecture. He was actively involved in research on folk architecture, religious architecture, ethnology, museography, and monument preservation.  

Auteur de trois ouvrages, de plus de 50 études scientifiques et de 130 articles journalistiques, il a contribué de manière significative à l'identification, à la documentation et à la diffusion du patrimoine immobilier et immatériel de la République de Moldavie.  
Pendant plusieurs années, il a travaillé au ministère de la Culture. Il a été secrétaire du Conseil national des monuments historiques entre 2001 et 2013. Ses qualités professionnelles ont été reconnues par de nombreuses distinctions et récompenses, dont le prix "Ştefan Ciobanu" du ministère de la Culture pour la conservation du patrimoine culturel, décerné pour la restauration de l'église en bois du village de Palanca, à Călăraşi en 2011.

Mise en circulation à l'occasion du 70ème anniversaire de la naissance d'Eugen Bâzgu, cette enveloppe montre un portrait récent de l'architecte ainsi que l'église en bois de l'Assomption de la Vierge Marie (construite en 1642) transférée en 2009 de Hirişeni (Telenești) vers le Musée du village de Chișinău afin d'être restaurée et sauvée des intempéries. 
Cette église est le plus ancien monument ecclésiastique de Moldavie, ainsi que la plus grande église en bois du pays, avec une hauteur de 27 mètres.
Nicolae a utilisé un autre timbre (6,90 MDL) faisant partie de la 5ème série courante (émise le 16 juillet 1994) représentant les armoiries de la République de Moldavie. 
Author of three books, over 50 scientific studies, and 130 journalistic articles, he has made significant contributions to the identification, documentation, and dissemination of the tangible and intangible heritage of the Republic of Moldova.
For several years, he worked at the Ministry of Culture. He served as secretary of the National Council for Historical Monuments from 2001 to 2013. His professional qualities have been recognized by numerous distinctions and awards, including the "Ştefan Ciobanu" Prize from the Ministry of Culture for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, awarded for the restoration of the wooden church in the village of Palanca, Călăraşi, in 2011.

Issued to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Eugen Bâzgu's birth, this envelope features a recent portrait of the architect and the wooden Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (built in 1642). The church was moved in 2009 from Hirișeni (Telenești) to the Chișinău Village Museum for restoration and protection from the elements.
This church is the oldest ecclesiastical monument in Moldova and the largest wooden church in the country, standing 27 meters tall. 
Nicolae used another stamp (6.90 MDL) from the 5th definitive series (issued on July 16, 1994) depicting the coat of arms of the Republic of Moldova.
