On March 31, 2017, the Czech Post put into circulation a new pictorial cancellation dedicated to Martina Sáblíková (born in 1987) to celebrate her 17th World Speed Skating Championship title.
Martina Sáblíková indeed won the gold medal in the 5,000-meter event at the World Championships held in Gangneung (South Korea) on 9-12 February 2017 (she also won a silver medal in the 3,000-meter event).
Among her 17 gold medals won between 2007 and 2017, Martina Sáblíková has been titled 9 times in the 5,000-meter event.
This pictorial cancellation, put into circulation by the main post office 1 of Prague, has been applied to this nice letter. Thank you very much Slavek!

A portrait of Martina Sáblíková is featured on this pictorial cancellation as well as the mention of her 17th World Champion title in 5,000 meters in Kangnung, the Czech name for this city of Gangneung which will host the ice sports events (short-track, curling, Ice hockey, speed skating and figure skating) at the upcoming Pyeongchang Olympic Games in 2018.
Slavek franked his letter with two stamps devoted to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. The 18 CZK stamp, issued on February 10, 2010 to announce these games, is featuring an athlete in a speed skating event.
The other stamp (10 CZK) was issued on March 24, 2010 especially after these Vancouver Olympic Games to celebrate Martina Sáblíková's two gold medals in speed skating (3,000 and 5,000 meters events).
Martina Sáblíková was also crowned Olympic champion in 5,000 meters in 2014 in Sochi but not any special stamp was issued that year...
