Quelle magnifique surprise lorsque j'ai découvert ce courrier dans ma boîte aux lettres !
Merci beaucoup Hannele pour cette lettre postée le 15 décembre 2008 de Jyväskylä :-))
Vous pouvez y voir le splendide bloc lenticulaire émis le 24 janvier 2008 par la poste finlandaise. Les 4 timbres de ce bloc rendent hommage à de grands skieurs finlandais, alpins et freestyle, contemporains. J'avais déjà évoqué cette émission incroyable dans un message précédent (avec un lien vers une animation bluffante de ce bloc).
Comme je le disais à l'époque, ces timbres sont originaux mais ne permettent pas aux cachets d'oblitération de s'appliquer correctement...

You can see the splendid lenticular sheet issued on January 24 2008 by the Finnish Post. The four stamps of this sheet pay tribute to great contemporary Finnish alpine and freestyle skiers. I had already evoked this incredible issue in a previous message (with a link to a crazy animation of this sheet).
As I wrote at the time, these stamps are very original but do not allow a correct cancellation...

Hannele a eu la bonne idée de choisir 2 autres timbres à gauche sur la même thématique des sports d'hiver !
Ces 2 timbres ont été émis se-tenant le 17 janvier 2001 pour annoncer les championnats du monde de ski nordique qui eurent lieu à Lahti du 15 au 25 février 2001. Ils comportent chacun une valeur faciale en markka, remplacée par l'euro depuis le 1er janvier 2002. A noter que la poste finlandaise n'a émis aucun timbre avec une double faciale (markka/euro) pendant cette période de transition...
Ces 2 timbres ont sans doute été extraits d'un bas de feuille car ils comportent une marge permettant d'identifier les sportifs : Janne Ahonen (saut à ski) en haut et Mika Myllylä (ski de fond) en bas. Ahonen a remporté 3 médailles lors de ces championnats et Myllylä est devenu tristement célèbre après avoir été exclu de ces mondiaux, avec 5 autres finlandais, pour dopage à l'HES !

These two se-tenant stamps were issued on January 17 2001 to announce the Nordic World Ski Championships which took place in Lahti from 15 to 25 February 2001. They each include a nominal value in Markka, replaced by the Euro currency since January 1st 2002. Note that the Finnish Post has not issued any stamp with a double value (Markka/Euro) during this transition period...
These two stamps may have been extracted from the bottom of a sheet because they have a tab allowing to identify these sportmen : Janne Ahonen (ski jumping) at the top and Mika Myllylä (cross country) at the bottom. Ahonen has won three medals at these championships and Myllylä became worldwide sadly famous after being excluded from these same championships, with five other Finnish, for taking doping HES !

Après des chevaux en 2005 et des chats en 2006, la poste finlandaise a émis le 5 septembre 2008 un nouveau carnet de 6 timbres autocollants représentant cette fois des races de chiens.
C'est ce carnet qui figure sur le FDC ci-dessus. Ces 3 carnets ont tous été conçus par Katriina Viljamaa-Rissanen.
Les 6 races représentées sont le Spitz finlandais, le colley, le boxer, le chien courant finlandais, le king charles spaniel et le jack russel terrier, qui figure également sur l'illustration de ce FDC.
La Finlande compte près de 600000 chiens, contre 8 millions en France...
After horses in 2005 and cats in 2006, the Finnish Post issued on September 5 2008, a new booklet of six self-adhesive stamps representing this time some dog breeds.
This is this booklet that is included on the FDC above. These three booklets were all designed by Katriina Viljamaa-Rissanen.
The six breeds represented are the Finnish Spitz, the rough collie, the boxer, the Finnish hound, the King Charles Spaniel and the Jack Russell terrier, which also appears on this FDC's illustration on the left.
Finland has about 600,000 dogs, and France 8 million...

Un autre joli FDC ci-dessus avec ce carnet de 6 timbres, émis le 9 mai 2008, reproduisant des oeuvres d'arts peintes par des artistes finlandais nés au 20ème siècle : Sam Vanni (1908-1992), Kimmo Kaivanto (né en 1932), Juhani Linnonvaara, Göran Augustson (né en 1936), Carolus Enckell (né en 1945) et Reino Hietanen (né en 1932).

Above the official FDC issued on November 6 2008 with the two beautiful Christmas stamps, already mentioned in a previous message.

Comme promis, Hannele m'a envoyé le FDC officiel avec le timbre hors-programme consacré à Martti Ahtisaari, Prix Nobel de la paix.
Ce FDC ci-dessus a été émis le 10 décembre 2008, jour de la cérémonie de remise du Prix Nobel à Oslo. Vous pouvez consulter mon message précédent pour avoir plus d'info concernant Martti Ahtisaari.
Pour l'anecdote, Martti Ahtisaari a donné son accord pour réaliser un timbre émis en automne 2009 pour la poste d'Aland, un archipel, territoire autonome finlandais, situé dans le golfe de Botnie.
Ce timbre fera partie de la série "Aland, mon pays" dont le principe est de représenter sur un timbre une vision d'Aland par une personnalité politique, culturelle, sportive...
Ainsi, les célébrités Bjorn Borg, Lill Lindfors, Mauno Koivisto ou Marcus Grönholm ont déjà participer à cette série originale.
Un bon coup de pub pour la poste d'Aland !
As promised, Hannele also sent me the official FDC dedicated to Martti Ahtisaari, 2008 Nobel Peace Prize.
The FDC above was issued on December 10 2008, the day of the ceremony of the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo. You can read my previous message for more details about Martti Ahtisaari.
For the anecdote, Martti Ahtisaari has agreed to design a stamp issued in next automn 2009 by the Post of Aland, an archipelago, autonomous territory of Finland, located in the Gulf of Bothnia.
This stamp will be part of the series "Aland, my country" whose principle is to represent a vision of Aland on a stamp by a political, cultural, sport personnality...
Thus, celebrities like Bjorn Borg, Lill Lindfors, Mauno Koivisto or Marcus Grönholm had already participate in this original series.
What a great advertising coup for Aland's Post Office !
