La République Populaire de Chine a fortement soutenu la cause des arabes et palestiniens (dans les années 1950 et 1960 en particulier) après l'indépendance de l'État d'Israël.
Quelques jours seulement après la plupart des pays arabes et/ou africains, la Chine fut également un des premiers pays dans le monde à reconnaitre l'État de Palestine (le 20 novembre 1988). Pour rappel ou information, certains pays comme la France ou le Royaume-Uni n'ont toujours pas reconnu l'indépendance de la Palestine...
Tout cela explique peut-être pourquoi la poste palestinienne fut une des rares administrations postales (en dehors de la Chine, Hong Kong, Macao et quelques îles des Antilles...) à émettre un timbre à l'occasion de la rétrocession de Hong Kong à la Chine en 1997...
The People's Republic of China has strongly supported the cause of Arabs and Palestinians (especially in the 1950s and 1960s) after the independence of the State of Israel.
A few days after most Arab and/or African countries, China was also one of the first countries in the world to recognize the State of Palestine (on November 20, 1988).
As a reminder or information, some countries such as France or the United Kingdom still have not recognized the independence of Palestine...
All this may explain why the Palestinian Post was one of the few postal administrations (excepting China, Hong Kong, Macau and some islands of the West Indies...) to issue a stamp on the occasion of the return of Hong Kong to China in 1997...
Il s'agit plus précisément d'un bloc-feuillet composé d'un timbre à 225 fils qui a été mis en circulation le 1er juillet 1997.
Ce bloc-feuillet (imprimé en Allemagne par Bundesdruckerei GmbH Berlin), ainsi qu'un timbre isolé, a été utilisé pour affranchir la jolie lettre ci-dessus envoyée le 17 octobre 2017 depuis le bureau de poste situé dans la rue Omar El Mokhtar, la principale artère de la ville de Gaza. Merci beaucoup Muhammad !
Ce bloc-feuillet est plutôt réussi avec ce timbre représentant une jonque traditionnelle et cette vue emblématique (depuis Victoria Peak) des nombreux gratte-ciels de Hong Kong.
Pour rappel, une déclaration sino-britannique a été conjointement signée le 19 décembre 1984, fixant la rétrocession du territoire de Hong Kong à la Chine au 1er juillet 1997, après 155 ans de présence britannique.
It is more specifically a souvenir sheet consisting of a 225 Fils stamp which was put into circulation on July 1, 1997.
This souvenir sheet (printed in Germany by Bundesdruckerei GmbH Berlin), as well as an isolated stamp, was used to frank the nice cover above sent on October 17, 2017 from the post office located in Omar El Mokhtar street, the main street of the city of Gaza. Thank you very much Muhammad!
This souvenir sheet is quite successful with that stamp depicting a traditional junk and this iconic view (since Victoria Peak) of the many skyscrapers of Hong Kong.
As a reminder, a Sino-British joint declaration was signed on December 19, 1984 fixing the handover of the territory of Hong Kong to China on July 1, 1997, after 155 years of British presence...
