Hors Inde, il semble qu'une centaine d'administrations postales ont émis ou vont mettre en circulation cette année des timbres consacrés au 150ème anniversaire de la naissance de Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (1869-1948), un record !
Le 27 septembre 2019, la poste slovène a également mis en circulation un timbre (0,70 €, tirage : 40000) conçu par Robert Žvokelj, représentant un des célèbres portraits du Mahatma Gandhi esquissant un sourire, avec les couleurs du drapeau indien (safran, blanc, vert et bleu pour le chakra d'Ashoka).
Ce timbre figure à droite sur cette jolie lettre envoyée le 8 octobre 2019 depuis Ljubljana, la capitale. Merci beaucoup Petra !
Le Mahatma Gandhi, né en 1869 à Pordanbar (état du Gujarat), surnommé le "Père de la Nation" en Inde, fut un des pionniers du mouvement d'indépendance du pays, prônant la désobéissance, la non-violence et le concept du "swaraj" (autodétermination).

On Septemberv27, 2019, the Slovenian Post also issued a stamp (€ 0.70, print run: 40,000) designed by Robert Žvokelj, representing one of the famous portraits of Mahatma Gandhi sketching a smile, with the colors of the Indian flag (saffron, white, green and blue for the Ashoka chakra).
This stamp was used on the right on this nice letter sent on October 8, 2019 from Ljubljana, the capital. Thank you very much Petra!

Le 30 janvier 1948, en chemin vers une réunion de prière, Gandhi est assassiné à New Delhi par un hindou nationaliste.
L'autre timbre (tarif permanent "D" pour un envoi ordinaire international 1ère classe - 1,31€ actuellement, tirage : 40000) est le timbre Euromed Postal émis cette année, le 8 juillet 2019, par la poste slovène, consacré au thème des costumes de la Méditerranée.
Conçu par Edi Berk, ce timbre reproduit des aquarelles datant des années 1930 (exposées dans le musée ethnographique slovène à Ljubljana) par le peintre slovène Saša Šantel (1883–1945).
Les costumes à l'honneur ici sont typiques des "mandrieri", désignant des membres de la communauté slovène d'agriculteurs et d'éleveurs vivant dans les environs de la ville de Trieste, lorsqu'elle était encore rattachée à l'empire austro-hongrois.
L'homme est représenté en costume de Barcola (Barkovlje en slovène) tandis que la femme porte le costume traditionnel de Servola (Škedenj en slovène).
On January 30, 1948, on the way to a prayer meeting, Gandhi was assassinated in New Delhi by a nationalist Hindu.
The other stamp (permanent rate "D" for a 1st class international ordinary letter - currently € 1.31, print run: 40,000) is the Euromed Postal stamp issued this year, on July 8, 2019, by the Slovenian Post, devoted to the theme of the Costumes of the Mediterranean.
Designed by Edi Berk, this stamp reproduces watercolors dating from the 1930s (exhibited in the Slovene Ethnographic Museum in Ljubljana) by the Slovenian painter Saša Šantel (1883-1945).
The costumes in the spotlight here are typical of the "mandrieri", designating members of the Slovene farming and herding community living in the environs of the city of Trieste, when it was still part of the Austro-Hungarian empire.
The man is shown in the costume of Barcola (Barkovlje in Slovene), while the woman wears the costume of Servola (Škedenj in Slovene).
