We find these same monuments on the FDC cancellations from Paris and Chalon-sur-Saône above and below, also designed by Sarah Bougault who dedicated some of these covers !
Birthplace of Joseph Nicephore Niepce (1765-1833), the inventor of photography, Chalon-sur-Saône has a famous museum dedicated to the history of photography.
As shown on the foreground on that stamp, Chalon-sur-Saône also has a river port at the confluence of the Saône river and the Canal du Centre but is also the economic capital of a renowned vineyard.
Finally, to note that another city of Saône-et-Loire, Mâcon, will be also once again featured on a stamp at the end of this month of May...
