1st edition of the World Indigenous Games in Brazil

1ère édition des jeux mondiaux des peuples indigènes au Brésil

Après 12 éditions de jeux indigènes au niveau national (organisés depuis 1999), une compétition sportive concernant des athlètes indigènes du Brésil, cet évènement s'internationalise puisqu'aura lieu, du 23 octobre au 1er novembre 2015 à Palmas (capitale de l'état du Tocantins), la 1ère édition des jeux mondiaux des peuples indigènes ("Jogos Mundiais dos Povos Indígenas").
Ces jeux, la plus grande manifestation sportive et culturelle concernant des populations indigènes organisée sur le continent américain, seront coorganisés par le comité inter-tribal (CIT) et le ministère brésilien des sports.
After 12 editions of national indigenous games (held since 1999), a sports competition for indigenous athletes from Brazil, this event goes international as will take place, from 23 October to 1 November 2015 in Palmas (the capital of the State of Tocantins), the first edition of the World Games of Indigenous Peoples ("Jogos Mundiais dos Povos Indígenas").
These games, the largest sport and cultural event organized for indigenous peoples in the Americas, will be co-organized by the Inter-Tribal Committee (CIT) and the Brazilian Ministry of Sports.

Avec son slogan "En 2015, nous sommes tous indigènes", cette compétition réunira près de 2000 athlètes indigènes venant de 30 pays, principalement du continent américain mais aussi d'Australie, du Japon, de Norvège, de Russie, de Chine ou des Philippines.
Le 16 avril 2015, la poste brésilienne a émis un joli timbre consacré à ces 1ers jeux mondiaux des peuples indigènes.

Ce timbre reproduit le logo de ces jeux (conçu par Carlos Terena, membre du comité inter-tribal), une bande composée de 3 couleurs entrelacées symbolisant les 3 familles de langues des peuples autochtones du Brésil : Tupi, Macro-Jê et Aruak.
Ces 3 couleurs rappellent les forêts, l'artisanat et la Terre-Mère, chère à ces populations.
With its slogan "In 2015, we are all indigenous", this competition will bring together nearly 2,000 indigenous athletes coming from 30 countries, mainly located on the American continent but also from Australia, Japan, Norway, Russia, China or the Philippines.
On April 16, 2015, the Brazilian Post has issued a nice stamp dedicated to these first World Games of Indigenous Peoples.
Thank you very much Marcelo for this FDC above (with the two different FDC postmarks from Palmas and Brasilia) regarding that stamp (in two copies), sent on May 25, 2015 from Sao Paulo :-)
That stamp depicts the logo of these games (designed by Carlos Terena, a member of the Inter-Tribal Committee), a band composed of three interwined colors symbolizing the three language-based families of Brazilian indigenous peoples : Tupi, Macro-Jê and Aruak.
These three colors recall the forests, crafts and Mother Earth, so important for these populations.
